He's not joking about that "city below"'in LA. I am a surveyor and have gone down there in those tunnels there's areas down there where you can drive a car. I wouldn't go alone and I wouldn't go at all unless it's to get paid. I ain't going down there for fun. there's nothing down there worth seeing. I'd rather go explore a cave out in the desert it's way less risky.

My God this man has a storytelling gift. Love how he delivers the stories with his hands & body movements. He's very poetic in his language. Fascinating tales especially about the Cecil Hotel, the underground tunnels & the experience of life on Skid Row. I agree w/ others who commented that he should have his own podcast or channel.

I found this channel from one of Johnny's videos and he is the reason why I kept coming back. He is an amazing story teller. He is old-school, respectful, has morals a lot of things that are missing with the newer generation.

The underground scene is extremely exclusive and from what I've heard, they've even killed people who spoke too much about what goes on down there and the different entrance ways. 😳
Johnny's been on Skid Row for more than a decade & the look of disgust mixed with confusion on his face while telling these stories lets you know just how bad it's gotten there... God help these people. 💜

I used to pass thru skid row as a kid back when my mom had a business in DTLA. I'm 36 now and I can tell you that before the pandemic, the homeless were just a bunch of mentally ill drug addicts. But the pandemic boosted their numbers exponentially and with the fentanyl going around things got wayyyyyyy worse. It's improved a lot but their #s are still much higher than it ever was pre-pandemic.
@@thelotus8285 you'd think that place would be back to normal after all these yrs. It should be against the law to see people openly using/selling drugs, stealing, fighting, suffering mentally/physically, etc. It looks absolutely depressing.
I watched this whole video laying on a hospital bed. It made this video much more personal than it already is for me. All I have to say I have so much respect for Johnny for being honest. My favorite recurring guest on soft white underbelly.
I wonder if Mark just turns the camera on then goes about his day with Johnny - coming back 12 hours later to let him know “wrap it up, it’s time to go home” 🤣

It really hit me when Johnny said that Skid Row took his girl away from him, Not in Death but her Soul. Johnny is a good guy, i enjoy hearing his honesty.

Johnny telling people to not even touch fentanyl if you find it because just touching has killed people. He has seen this. This advice may save lives. Thank you, Johnny. Take care of yourself. He watches and knows everything about the environment that he lives in and is able to give you a detailed, accurate description of exactly what is going on. One of the biggest lies we're told is the quality of our life is exclusively product of our own actions...that our success or failure is 100% in our control. But the fact is everyone's life is highly influenced by countless external factors which are completely uncontrollable.
Of course, we do have at least some agency to control our destiny. However, we do not have complete control like the world's life-coaches keep telling us we have.

This one was horrifying, troubling, sad, poetic, and one of his best.
For anyone who doesn’t believe the underground LA story listen I’ve been there myself & one of the entrances to this unspoken of world is in the basement of the Alexandria hotel, I worked security at the hotel in the 90’s when many movies were filmed there such as mighty Joe young, Replacment killers… At that time 1/2 of the building was completely abandoned but I had access to everywhere in the hotel & the basement underground entrance is something you have to see & feel for yourself, There’s a darkness & evil that’s tangible in that hotel & in that basement for sure!!!!
