youtube that's funny
at a certain point the king has to just gather his staff and go "this is my daughter's current pet. don't kill it"
Or just give the damn thing a collar with a nametag. Maybe even a vest with the royal insignia on it.

It honestly was surprisingly youtube. It's just a shame that this video was so youtubin' short.

I love how despite his jokes about being a terrible father, Dan continuously puts his daughters first in basically every decision 🥹 he tries his best to treat them well and indulges them when they're causing trouble. It's really sweet
He's had experience with us. He just treats them better 😔😔😔
yeah like in the stream, even when the game forces him to marry off Lorsulia, he's still like "have they (Lorsulia and Ivo) met???" in order to keep his promise with Lorsulia. it's sweet :)

So fun fact about this game, Leading up to it's release the official discord was in full roleplay and alongside the devs and publishers and we acted out the game's first act including the poisoning and solving it through in discord clues. It was a wild time
That sounds like one helluva fun time omg, if you participated I hope you had a blast :0
Is the culprit Ivo?
We did! Glad you had a good time ❤
@@FxPlotion0021 played the full game myself. SPOILER: Ivo is the culprit, but it was an accident that he poisoned his father instead of Eryk, and Smudge was the reason

Now I finally know what the RT in RTGame truly stands for: *Royal Tyrant!*
If I had a nickel for every medieval Monarch game RT has played, I'd have three nickels!
Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened thrice.
Hello again. Still not very fond of you having to make us see this everywhere but I won't judge no more. But if i am honest this comment made me laugh quite a bit.
After watching both Callmekevin and RT play this game, I can safely say I am concerned for Ireland.
wait until Jack or Nogla or Terroriser plays it, and then we’re all doomed. Their chaos will spread far further then just Ireland
Ireland's had a bad time of it, generally.
Would you call the Spire a magic bean?
Ireland is RUclips, and the Spire is also RUclips
and RT was actually trying 😬
Christ, Ivo is such a RUclips. I can't believe the game doesn't let you call him out on his RUclipsry. He abuses your daughter, frames you for the murder of his own father, and doesn't even keep his side of things to help defend your kingdom. How can one guy have so many RUclips moments and NOT draw any suspicion?
Because he's the King.
You get to punish him
38:46 for those curious, HypnOS is a reference to Hypnospace Outlaw where you play as a online law enforcer browsing through internet to report crimes like harassment and copyright infringement. It's a great game and I do hope Dan gives it a try sometime if he hasn't already.
That moment made me double take
Hypnospace Outlaw was one of the most insane games I've ever played, such a surreal experience. For it's vibe alone I think it's in my top 5 games
Oh wow, I didn't realise they where referencing that, thank you for this information
I was not expecting a reference to that game here! Also check out subserial network if you like hypnospace
I had to double check who made this game because of that and of course it's the same people behind hypnospace outlaw
The family scenes are probably the best part of the game. Usually, games like these don't get too deep into the personal lives of the player-controlled monarch, but this one had you managing your family matters alongside the kingdom in pretty wholesome ways.
The one daughter wasn't even bad at taking care of her pets, it's just that the exact moment they left her sight some random person came along to murder the pet.
Like a dude just straight up ate her pet snail
Let us remember in history that Audrey didn't die, Etton died.
Did he actually rewind and do it?
@@dontmindme7684 no he didn’t. I think he made a poll but he didn’t rewind
@@anaperaza3900 What are you talking about? Poll? Rewind? Etton was accused and executed, nothing happened to the timeline :)
You know a game is going to be interesting when you're given a choice to execute someone in the first 3 minutes
Actually the game is pretty tame. Without spoilers, the nice option is always the good one
Might I introduce you to Fable 3?
I found it to be entirely frustrating, to be honest. Mainly because while the game starts off elevating your choices as a player, it's really Eryk's story and you're a passenger that can influence just how bad it gets. A lot of the story elements are a bit predictable too which adds to the frustration, knowing the twist that is coming and being powerless to do anything to stop it. Spoilers ahead
Before anyone thinks to defend the game based on the things that can be different, I am almost strictly speaking about events that ALWAYS happen regardless of your choices. Mostly in regards to Ivo, Lorsulia and Beyran. Ivo isn't a character, he's ridiculously well connected and in spite of being considered a fairly worthless heir, everyone always talks about how he commands the utmost loyalty of his army. He's a mess of contradictions and you are never given an option to deal with him early because surprise surprise, he's the main villain. In relation to this, you can't save Lorsulia from her fate. All because of a MISUNDERSTANDING with Beyran, the real arrow in the heart of this game's plot.
Long Live the Queen does this too, Dan played it a while back
On my first playthrough i actually somehow got the best ending, also this is something that happened to me for real, when the animal adopting daughter brought in a bear i told myself (i talk to myself when im alone) "it'd be funny as hell if that bear was called Wojtek because i recently learned about him" and im not kidding the next dialogue the girl named him Wojtek XD
Yeah it's a nice reference.
And you now have an even nicer story to reminisce about
All bear pets in games are called Wojtek. He’s innescapable
@@thraexgladiator he's a great bear though, so dont really mind that
How to sabotage a kingdom:
1. Find an Irishman
2. Put him in charge
3. Profit
Yes
Seeing that he paid the fortune teller, I'm not sure about the profit part 🥲
That's probably true. They clearly cling strongly to their less civilized roots: The Irish word for Prime Minister means "Chieftan".

I remember playing this game. It was an absolute nightmare trying to be a good father while not having my entire kingdom crumble to ash
I love how the game has NOTHING superantural in it, but you still think right up to the end that there is a possibility of it
90% sure there's mentions of dragons
Saw something like that in the streams
@@Zant582 There are mentions of dragons, hydras and other mythological beasts in our history as well, this does not make them true.
@@Zant582 Spoilers for the game (alebit a bit late): There is constant mention of magical stuff everywhere, being stated as if its obvious it exists. But nothing is. the smoke and "monsters" during the battle are wagons and normal smoke and fire works. There is nothing supernatural. But the game tricks you into thinking that there is.
Just like medieval times
@@stormshadow4533 ummm... Basilisk eggs exist, and then there's the ritual its apart of.
I know he uses "we" and "us" to drag chat into the narrative, but it works double this time bc it sounds like he's using the royal "We" to refer to himself
He really made it into a farming game. He got the rooster, a cat, a chicken, a hedgehog, a fox, etc and he was rolling in supplies.
@The_RTGame this is a scam if I've ever seen one.
I adore this game, I'm so glad RT got round to it! And a slight correction, it wasn't developed by the same people as Not Tonight (Brave at Night and Panic Barn respectively), but it was distributed by the same company, No More Robots!
If you like the concept of those games, making hard decisions and effecting the course of world, you might like Paper's Please, which is a classic. If you like the pixel art style, you might like Ministry of Broadcast, a really great platformer with dystopian themes abound.
Gonna have to look at Ministry of Broadcast...
Papers Please is a masterpiece, but if you don’t have a good memory, it can be D I F F I C U L T.
@@caraelizabeth7307 literally, i had to stop playing it because it was too stressful
Not Tonight is such a great game! Love the dark British humour
Literally from the beginning I knew the kings son ( I forgot thier names) was the bad guy. Who wouldn't kill his father to get the throne back in the day
Spoiler: he didn’t actually intend to kill his father. Pretty sure he actually liked his dad a lot, it’s just that Smudge climbed into the glasses at the wedding and made the poisoned drinks get switched around, resulting in Talys dying instead of Eryk.
RT, it's only been 50 minutes of video but I am already dearly attached to your daughters, especially the eldest one. Please do your best to save her from that youtube Ivo

I feel this is the sort of game where RT Is either amazing at this game by accident or the people who know this game are annoyed by his decisions
I read in a US history book that there were many people that could do well in politics but chose to run a business. Running a business will always be less stressful than running a country.
I really hope we get a part 2, I’m not sure why but this is one of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in a long time
Honestly the most proper course of action would have been to contact the king of Radovia and offer an alliance against Ivo. That way on the field of battle they could trap Ivo and pincer him.
Yeah, I've not seen the whole story, but I'm really confused by how Eryk is so okay with giving up his daughters to a lot of people, but apparently the king of Radovia is a no-go even though he previously promised one of them to him...
Not to mention that the guy is giving Eryk a lot of chances to negotiate.
I know that some people ARE just stubborn like that and there might be reasons I'm unaware of, but it's a bit annoying that the game SAYS you have choices but the actual choices seem very limited in scope.
@@mastermarkus5307 In the game, it quite clearly states that - even if he isn’t actually a barbaric warlord - everyone views the King of Radovia as such. Everyone else, even if they aren’t the nicest bunch, are way better to hand over your daughter to than someone you perceived as a Viking-like warlord.
@@thraexgladiator
Eh, I'd just... try to talk to him. He doesn't seem unreasonable from the letters at least.
@@mastermarkus5307 it is said beyran held eryk's wife at knifepoint when they promised the marriage, as well as the witch that was said to have cursed Eryk. It is somewhat easy to assume that Eryk doesn't think Beyran is an 'unreasonable' person after their last encounter
Imagine the king saying: "You know they used to call me the drift king back in college" as his kingdom is crumbling around him.
For the love of RUclips, pls do a part 2 i need to know how this whole thing will end.
(+1 i totally think Ivo killed his own father for the throne, how quickly he jumped to say he was the new king lmao)
Spoiler: Ivo didn’t mean to kill his father, but he did try to poison Eryk at the wedding but the drinks got switched around resulting in Talys dying instead. Still a huge scumbag, but at least he isn’t a familial murderer… or at least, isn’t one on purpose.
I absolutely believe it’s Ivo, and it’s a convenient way for him to claim a throne. He also rushed you into a trial so that you didn’t have time to gather evidence it was him.
I can already see RT as a father like "Can you read me a bedtime story, Drift King?"
"Let me tell you the story of how I became the Drift King"
Really hope there’s a part 2 of this, really liking this playthrough a lot so far. Long live the drift king
Warning; it gets sad, I had to stop playing it was so bad
Also, all the daughters are under 14. The middle one is not a teenager, she’s 10. The youngest is eight, i think
Edit for people replying; the medieval way of life was indeed primitive compared to what we’re used to today, but if you do your research it wasn’t all that bad. For example, they didn’t just throw human waste into the streets, they had outhouses for it and dung heap cleaners whose job it was to clean them.
History is one of my favorite topics but I’m not as well-versed in medieval times, most of what I’ve learned is from RUclips spots like the Horrible Histories channel and Absolute History.
Oh no
Welcome to the medieval times baby!
How much longer is this game? I already own it on steam due to a bundle I purchased a while back and would actually like to play it if it won't be an obscene time sink.
@@JRDeBo It's not very long, it just took me personally a while because the choices are HARD, and if you want the best ending you have to go online to get the instructions because the buildup to the good ending starts early after the wedding.
Makes sense since the life expectancy during those times were pretty low, so on average a 14/yo is already considered an adult.
daaamn I was not expecting something with such dense lore, can't wait for part 2
3 minutes in and RT's in debt to the bankers. This can't go poorly at all!
That king made some absolute RUclips decisions, but the daughter's pets had me cackling and slapping my thigh like a lunatic
24:44 "Does the rooster not work!?" Who would have thought that the "enchanted cock" who can "tell a lie from the truth" would be unreliable lmao 😭. I wanna watch the vod for this stream so bad
7:00 that is actually so accurate for medieval times, the odd thing for that time period is the daughter being allowed to question it actually. Not to say it should be that way, but that IS how it was. Daugthers had no "value" beyond being married off for political reasons... dark times
The same for pretty much all nobility.
Marriages were done for political reasons. Marrying to cement alliances, or secure access to resources. Even as part of peace treaties.
Nobles had a lot of thing better than the peasants. But they almost never had a choice of who they got to marry.
Sons could kick up a fuss about it more easilly. But it was bassically impossible to say no

Now I just finished my adventure, and I saw that RT had played this, and I just HAD to see how his story ended up. Can't wait for this video!
"... Does the rooster not work?!" is my favourite.
Yo this was actually really compelling though. I would love a part 2! I had a real youtube time!
Eldest daughter is abused, Youngest daughter has trauma from animals dying, but at at least sword daughter is fine. But I still have a feeling RT is going to youtube it up somehow.
Played this on stream and all throughout all I could think about was how fun it would for Dan to play this!
I’m like 99% sure these are the same guys who made “not tonight” that brexit game where Dan sold drugs
After the tactically masterminded battle, and his cunning magical wizardry, it was then that RT earned his well deserved title.

Also, yes you should reload and try to get your advisor back in my opinion, im in full support of this 🤣
So a bit of polsih context for a few moments.
16:41. That is indeed a witcher reference, one of the short stories to be exact. Not to spoiler anything I shalkl leave it at that.
34:15 The Lichaj, might have been a reference to the slavic monster known as Leszy. They are forest keepers, often depicted with moose or stag horns.
I am looking forward to part two.
The whole hedgehog and rooster thing could also be a reference to a really weird fairytale "Hans mein Igel". Hans, my hedgehog. Which maybe could then also have k spired the Witcher? Idk, but you should read the fairytale, it's absurd but really cool.
@@monamagican will look it up. Wouldn't be surprisd, Sapkowski took a lot of inspirations from various places.
Witcher BOOKS are basically a bunch of classic fairytales put in realistical medieval context.
Oh this is a game that encourages a gray area morality, perfect for RT
Spoiler warning!
My people during my playthrough:
"The king is so generous!"

"I'm going to skin Ivo alive, make him sow me a scarf out of it,then I'm going to hang him from the castle walls with it!"
