    FN SCAR-H was taken to Afghanistan by several SOF units, they began falling apart within 2 weeks and the units got rid of them within 3 weeks. Plastic cracked and fell off, magazines fell out randomly, barrel twist was off and it needed a lighter bullet, etc. Not what you want in a fight.

      @@AmmoLandTV I would say try SOCOM/Third Group After Action Reports for 2006-2008 time frame, if you can get access. You should also find there, reports on the M855A1 round detailing increased accuracy and lethality at range over M855. My understanding was when the M855A1 arrived the enemy typically would stand and taunt at 400m, within a few weeks that stopped with the M855A1.

    Sold! Picking it up next week.
    But I choose 308 for proven reliability, ammo availability/price, closer range power, and ammo compatibility with my 17s and other 308 rifles. Plus 308 have 2-3 times the barrel life compared to 6.5CM (Also sounds like more than one person have had problems w/ 6.5CM)

      Question, I'm thinking of getting this, but I'm curious about something. I know a 5.56 nato can fire a .223 but .223 should not fire a 5.56 round. What is the same/difference between 7.62x51 nato vs 308 win?? Is the same true for this round and rifle as it is with the AR?

    • @SuperSnallygaster
      @SuperSnallygaster Год назад +1

      @@mro-aviation Typically, you can shoot both. Most modern 7.62x51 chambered rifles can accommodate .308. Older ones may not. Nearly all .308 chambered rifles are OK to shoot 7.62. .308 generates slightly higher pressures than 7.62, and has some minor case dimension differences. Plenty of discussion on this topic elsewhere online. Best advice is to look at the specs or manual for that particular rifle to ensure it's GTG.

    I am assuming you didn't suffer any problems with popped primers when firing 6.5x48 mm Creedmoor ammunition? If you didn't, was this because FN America has now fixed the issue? Or was it just a case of people using low cost ammunition with soft primers?

    Those that shit on FN and HK for their prices are the same people that have 5 or 6 Ar's that are all slightly different from each other. Maybe stop buying guns you dont need and you can afford the nicer ones.

      Based on the general 6.5CM barrel life(2k-3k, 3.5k if you let it cool). I'm hoping FN is better and can go some more. But I could be totally wrong and the accuracy of the 6.5 SCAR can just go downhill in that 2-3.5k range.
      FYI, an FN 20s replacement barrel assembly will cost you at least $2k if you can find one.

    • @JohnZ556
      @JohnZ556 2 года назад

      If you have to have a 6.5CM and shoots mostly way beyond 500yds.
      I would say get a 22"-24" CF bbl 6.5CM bolt gun. 6.5CM really needs a longer barrel and the lighter recoil makes it nicer on an ultra-light bolt gun. That way you also get more fun time with 6.5CM.

    • @AmmoLandTV

      @@JohnZ556 one nice thing about FN using all 308 parts (other than the barrel) on this gun, is the ability to buy a different barrel assembly and swap calibers. Though the aftermarket ones I saw were north of $1,000.

      @@m4rvinmartian I don't know what to tell you, other than it looks like MAC got a lemon. I watched the whole video, and the only thing I did differently was run my gun almost exclusively in the standard gas regulator setting.
      From the footage, it looked like he might have had his on limited/suppressed, but that shouldn't cause any popped primers.
      Either way, I know Tim and I just asked him to either come to my range, or I'll come to his and we can see what the difference between the two guns is.
