"Snug 'er down to the spec that somebody probably knows" So funny. Sounds like me. "Probably shouldn't be doing this...just little love taps." "Put some more grease on it to make you feel better about it." "Spray the brake cleaner in there like somebody else is paying for it." So many classic one liners.
Hey man. Love all your videos. Hers the update. I put in this machine all balls racing cv axles. They are 8 ball Heavy duty and to my surprise no issues. So my issue was very cheap Caltric Cv axles that are just junk outta the box. Thanks for all your help. Happy riding!
I’m about to do this this after noon wish me luck. Thanks for backwood customs I have the knowledge to even attempt this. Just finished the job took an hour luckily the cv axle came out with a pry bar and couple taps. Thanks for the how to
Just randomly came over this video, my Can Am 6x6 450 had to get new rear CV axle and it's only few days until it's 1 year old machine.... Wonder if Polaris has better quality parts, thinking about swapping my Can Am for a Polaris next time
Just to add; I dont haul big loads nor do anything crazy with the machine. Just plowing snow and haul some logs on a log trailer. But I see more and more people having problems with Can Am Machines 😄
I was pretty die hard Yamaha, but Polaris seems to have it figured out. Between this ATV and my RZR, they have been though some stuff and nothing major or that wasn't completely self inflicted. Our wind rock off road park trips should be Polaris testing r&d department. They just keep taking it.
Is it possible that the binding and it feeling like it’s in the cv shafts that it could be the shaft that goes from side of case to front did that fetching? I got shafts coming this Friday from Wild Boar. 8 ball bearings too not 6. Paid good money. Hope it works. I’ll keep ya posted.
So I’m yanking outward on the CV like you were and several others I’ve seen. Just to get room to replace upper A-arm grommets. Same left side with no brake. Instead of the axle coming out of the diff, something popped loose inside the diff-end boot. So pulling now just stretches that boot, feels no longer attached to the axle it seems. Is my CV toast now? Need to replace the whole CV assembly too?
Yeah, that cv was junk, they shouldn't come apart unless they're already on the way out. The balls have some detention grooves and they get wore out, and come apart.
do you no how when it come off i need to no i have a wheeler same thing but axl came off boot that go into driveshaft so leet me no is you can make video for me thaks
I have a big question and hoping you will respond when you took that CV shaft out on the case there appears to be a bearing is that replaceable is it snapping held in and then need to be pressed out? Any information you have would be great thank you
Uh, the splines in the case should not be a simple replacement with snap rings , you can replace the female splines in the rear dif, but that's a pretty big job.
So I did new cv axles in read, bearings and bushing kits “the good ones” all the way around. New ball joints. All greased and here is my issue: still getting popping, chunk sound near shafts. Didn’t do this when I bought it. It’s 2015 570 SP. and when I lift up with Jack and hit throttle nothing. So it’s while under a load. I did see a guys video where belt fixed the issue cause it was very fast slipping and sticking causing chatter in rear diff. Any thoughts?
Btw. This video is exact same machine I have. However, no chatter with old shafts in it when I bought it. And I swear it’s not rear diff cause I would have noticed it upon buying.
@@RickTrask-lt2xv yeah, any time I've had clicking in the rear when you turn, it has been a cv axle going out. The rear end is always lock in dif lock, so both tires are trying to turn the same speed. When you turn it puts huge stress on the cv axles, when the cv axles are worn you will get the click and pops of the balls in there snapping in and out of the worn housing. If you lift up the rear end you will not have any clicks because there's no stress on the cv axles.
Thanks man. I just put new belt on. That changed nothing cv axles are new but cheap ones by Caltric. They sending me new. But yes. If I don’t start and roll the machine it’s has ran fine times both sides. Turn wheel and seems a lot more. I lifted tires off ground no load and no pop like sounds. Two questions: Is it possible to get cheap bad cv axles like this? I sear old ones didn’t do this. What brand do you recommend and how many bearings they have? I see I can get 8 bearings for $200 each. What’s your recommendation? Thanks for everything
2636500-070 front rack. BUT I found a different part number for it at one point, looked for 30 minutes and can't find it now, it was $180 for the complete front rack. 2020 450 utility on babbittsonline.com then search for it online.
Well I mean it's not by the Polaris book, they probably want you to take the tail lights out first. But 1h15min to do all 4 so it's really not that bad.
That job was fun!!… said no one ever 😂 I just did a boot replacement not the whole axle but I used this video to help me through. I appreciate it!
Glad I could help.

Gotta keep it interesting lol.
Great video man helped me a lot

No worries. Yeah I been burnt on new parts before too. I've heard good things on the all balls 8ball ones. Good luck out there.

its not that bad, just be careful when you have to pry out the shaft, its a real possibility to pry a hole in the case. then your in a pickle
Appreciate his humor. I bet he has some great dad jokes 😂
I really love dad jokes. By far my favorite humor.

I don't mess with changing just the boots. The boots are $30-40. A whole shaft is $60. If the boot is off, chances are the bearings are on the way out

Can you post the part numbers or links for the racks?
2636317-458 rear rack. Need the spacers and new bolts too.

This made me mad enough watching you do this to where I don’t want to do it

Looks to me like A Royal pain In the ass to do this job
Oh it's not bad at all, was 1hr20 minutes for all 4 axles with messing around with a camera. Was easier than doing a full fluid swap.
