    Excellent - just what I needed to know! (Not sure it can detect 'electrostatic' fields but that is just me being picky!)

    I expected this device to turn green or something - if things were "Safe" - but I guess just 'not making a sound' - is how we know, right?

    Does it randomly beep? Occasionally it will beep when touching seeming without a current. What does this mean?

      Is it detecting static? Like when you rub it on your arm? If in doubt bring it back in for our team to check that its operating as intended.

    It detects an electrostatic field, electromagnetic field, or an electric field?

    • @SydneyToolsTV

      by sensing a very small amount of current that is capacitively coupled from the live circuit to the tester and back to ground

    When you say AC does that mean these testers does that mean these testers do not work with DC current?

    • @jbrucek1
      @jbrucek1 Год назад

      That's right. It needs a varying magnetic field to work. DC doesn't do this.

    The second I push the button it lights up an makes noise without touching it to anything. I can hold the button a few seconds to turn noise off but light is still on with no change touching it into outlet or wires. . Can't figure out how to work it.

      It's intended for use between 90v and 1000v. So no for most wiring in the car.

    • @Anna-abc
      @Anna-abc 3 года назад +1

      Cars run on DC, this only works with AC that comes out of your wall sockets etc. So no, it would not work even if it was on the voltage range. There are different products for cars.
