what backstory did u not get from the trailer.....obviously some creature, or whole species of creature is extremely sensitive to sound and hunts by it, hence why they have to walk on sand when they are outside to not make a crackling sound from the leaves, as well as playing board games with soft pieces. and its obviously been going on for so long that they were able to teach their kids sign-language so they have adapted. plus the kids did make sound on accident so its not like they are perfect. and what this allows is for an extreme amount of focus on the scene itself because there will be nothing to distract u, until some sound occurs that should make u extremely anxious and on edge cause u know the creatures will be coming right after it.
well the kids look around what 8 or 9? so most likely they already had the kids before all this. they want you to infer this plus the focus isnt on the beginning but more on the adaptation. to what it could be like if this did occur and how this family, as many others would have to, adapted. and the focus is more on the feeling and absence of sound and how that affects you as the audience and the scenes as a whole.this movie at least doesnt look like it will spoon-feed the audience. plus who knows maybe they made a book or something to explain to their kids what happened in a like bedtime story kind of way that will show up in a bedtime scene

hex warp why would the developers give a check to the "originators", for all we know they didn't even get the idea from them, and if they did why would they send money? Do you think everyone who makes zombie movies and shows give money to the original person who thought of it? Obviously not because that's a stupid thing to do. It's not the world we live in where everyone is selfish, it's the world we live in where people can expand or create anew of other peoples ideas.
QTpie lit AF it that concept was pushed through as a patent then they would have to pay the innovator. There was a huge legal battle in film between a guy Pearce film that luc besson directed and escape from new York. Intellectual property is just an invisible technology pulled from the aether. Sir, why would you not like to see the innovator get a royalty off their literary devices just like any guy who designs a brilliant underrigging for a bridge or a new way to inject fuel into a car. With this case I think both parties are entitled to develop because they are different but you shouldn't neglect the first source in my opinion becausevoftentimes that party has to wether so much hardship to first see the concept then carry it to the status quo.

My thoughts exactly. Which is a shame. I feel like Slenderman could be an amazing horror movie if done right. Like you've already got an interesting design and creature to work with. Why not keep to the popular forest setting and have a group of people trying to escape/get out of it. I'll admit I don't know much outside the first game and what said to be the source of the story but from what I do know that's what I would go with.
Did everyone watch a different, "Hereditary?" because if I have to read one more, "Hereditary was, wow, brilliant, oh my word I loved it, complete masterpiece," I'm going to lose my mind.

It was a camcorder style movie, was actually pretty good, seemed more like the game, parts scared the shit outta us, a lil low budget like unknown actors. But was still not to bad though

I don't know tbh, the trailer was terrible though. It just made it look like it was going to be a generic horror flick wit little to no innovation. They could totally have played it like a trailer for a thriller about a missing girl but kept the horror tone and score while working slenderman into the background of some shots. All the while having his signature digital and static interference slowly escalate in the trailer itself. Lots of people would have just dismissed it but a decent amount would have noticed and built hype for it.
The game isn't where it originated from.
They're trying too hard to scare people at this point. No real effort made in these movies, just cheap jumpscares and gross out horror (gore) from the looks of it.

this horror movie they are doing actually looks like it might just work. like its looks unique. the only other setting i can think of that reminds me of that is Chucky's Cult and or Nightmare on Elm Street. things that are slowly turning more insane every second. and can control people at anytime it wishes type scenario.

Not gonna lie, the only ones I wanna see from this are "New Mutants", "The Strangers: Prey at Night", and "Mom and Dad"; I previously wanted Insidious 4 but it's another prequel movie in the series and that means I'm not getting the resolution to Insidious 2's end scene, so I'm less inclined to care now.
Agrred, even though i think A quiet Place looks great too. I have seen Insidious 4 but I didn't see Insidious 2 yet so I can't tell you if it somehow explains something from the second film, but over all I would say it's an actually decent movie. Not the best, but good. The first half had to many jumpscares but it got better halfway through the movie and had some actually clever scares.

A Quiet Place could be a very interesting take on a zombie-esque/rage virus epidemic or something. They didn't give much away, but there's a lot of great stuff they could do with a premise similar to that.

So many godawful looking pieces of garbage here, but what hurts me the most is how badly the Slenderman movie was clearly done. They could have used such an amazingly creepy source material to make something amazing, but what they showed us here makes me feel like we will never get a Slender movie worthwhile of the source material after this one either barely breaks or falls under its production budget.

Brownstone2004 I was kind of sad at how many negative reviews of the movie I heard. So many of my friends said it was just a flat out bad movie with the only good parts being in the trailer.
