Big shout out to Raven, most people just let Miss Pat gloss over her trauma without explaining how she easily does that or why. Stopping her and having a discussion about it was great. First time watcher, but I’m definitely subscribing.
I do really appreciate the question. But I can’t get behind how Raven was seemingly shaming going no contact with abusive people in this generation though. Whether you go no contact (which going no contact & forgiveness is not mutually exclusive) or whether you forgive & keep contact. Either way, you are protecting yourself.
My niece is gay. She came and visited me and said “ aunt Jackie I got something to tell you”. Then she paused. And I thinking something was wrong said “ child spit it out”. She said “I’m gay!” I said Chile I thought something was really wrong I already knew that. She lit up in excitement and said “ For real why you didn’t tell me I was scared you would get mad!” I responded chile that doesn’t change how I love you and feel about you. It’s your choice. I was waiting on you to get comfortable and say it. I was not going to push you into anything you were not ready for. Then I hugged her. So many LGBQT+ ( forgive me if the letters are wrong) have so many people judging them. Listen It’s our job to love people and help them love themselves and their lives. I enjoyed the episode. I love that Mrs. Pat is able to tell stories, state a point, and bring laughter at the same time. You win when you are able to forgive and release the pain.
This is one of the best things I've heard a human being say, as people we tend to hold OURSELVES down and instead you encourage us and the people around to lift us up. You be blessed and have a wonderful day, because now I sure am.
@@ayem8709 sorry to hear that. Just know that it’s important that you be who you are and opinions change with time. I pray that things turn around for you and that you have the family you want and need even if not by blood.
THIS‼️‼️ i read this comment after the 2nd watch… and the heaviness she talked about i feel it.. i feel myself wanting to cry and let go but the tears won’t come out.!
I actually liked that she shared these stories including asking the abuser who fathered her first kids to apologize and the awful things he said. Cause it shows that though you may never get the acknowledgment or apology you should from someone that did awful things to you; you can still move forward, grow, and gain control of your story and life. This was a great episode, she talks about a lot of dark things and stories comedically-which may make people uncomfortable, but at the end of the day as she mentions: it gives people the opportunity to relate and also talk about these things when they otherwise may not have been able to.
10:52 “When you cry about cards that was handed to you, you don’t ever get to flip them over to see if you’ve won.” 🗣️🗣️A WORD!!!! I love Ms. Pat! I feel like she’s definitely the rose that grew from concrete. ❤
As someone who was molested 1000% you gotta let it go. Dont mean it didn’t happen or it was right. It means IM FREE and what you did to me doesn’t define nor control me!
Her mindset can cure depression! It’s the same mindset God chose me to have as well… and people look at me like I’m crazy when I share my traumas as I laugh… but I control my narrative! Love her for this!
E. Lynn Harris was a ground breaking author who we lost too soon. I have read all of his books and yes you cannot put them down. His memoir is unforgettable. I love Ms. Pat
She’s teaching them a valuable lesson about being real and truly letting go and not living in the Hurt… you can’t change the past, but you can move on and change your future and make life better for yourself and those who are coming behind you.
Forgiveness is for you, not the abuser. Using the term "playing victim" is very close to victim blaming. You can be a victim of abuse and a survivor of abuse. Just like you can express your angry and frustration for not properly being cared for, and still live a fulfilling life after harm. Point is, don't let the harm done to you keep you stuck in time. Ms. Pat sharing her story helps her do that. Hope others find ways to get their stories out.
@@FocalPointElisa there’s one thing to have been a victim, but if you hold onto that and look at your life NOW through the eyes of the PAST…that is “playing victim” now. At least for me.
Now THAT was a interview and a word.❗️💐 I throughly enjoyed this episode and live Ms. PAT. It truly touched me and made me look into forgiving someone who truly hurt me. And I hope this episode touched you Raven, in a way that allows you to open up a little and share some of your trauma and things you've experienced. So it to, can help someone who looks up or to you in way. Great job ladies ❤🙌🏾✨️😌🫶🏾🌹
Mrs. Pat told us it was white men that would continuously bring her on their show. So, white people probably knew her story before black folks were put on to her. She BEEN crossed over a long time ago.
Learning your family's story (Mother, grandmother; Father, grandfather...ect.), you'll understand in full the impact of generational trauma. Ms. Pat brings the light as she shares her story of generational trauma. I hope people are digesting the reality of her words with the "Haha".
This amount of self awareness, healing and forgiveness is astronomical! She wouldn’t have the life and the experiences she has had if she wasn’t able to tell her story in only the way she could! I absolutely love Mrs. Pat bc that’s her testimony!
What I love about the Ms. Pat show is the balance between heavy subjects and humor. The graveyard song, abortion, and "I hate her" episodes made me cry but then laugh at the same time. So, thank you for sharing Ms. Pat🧡💛💚❤️
I’m so happy you had Ms Pat on your show. I have so much respect for her and love her so much. Only Ms Pat can make me laugh and cry within minutes apart.
I see Ms. Pat being interviewed I click. Raven interviewing her was the icing on top! I know I’m gonna get a good laugh, some wisdom, & a good conversation🥰
What a fantastic quote "leaders dont compete". Ive just discovered your podcast . Ive been enjoying it. Raven seems like she'd be a really cool woman in person. She has an authenticity about her. I respect that. Shes not caught up in trying to be someone shes not or trying to look a certain way . Anyways, thanks for doing this pod ladies.
I confessed to my parents and my stepdad I was molested by family… my mother got deported soon after, I had to take care of my younger sibling untill they graduated highschool last year . It’s been a rough past 10 years. But I 1000% agree. You need to let it go. Or I wouldn’t be here
May life give you all the breaks and love you need going forward! What you did for your siblings while going through such horrific trauma took a great deal of resiliency, bravery, strength and love. Sending you some extra love and hugs! ✌️💛
Ms. Pat is a trip. What a fantastic quote "Leaders dont compete" . I just discovered this podcast. Ive been enjoying it. I just wish it was longer. I really like Raven she is a strong intelligent honest woman. I bet shes just as cool in person. She has an authenticity about her. She's above hollywood.. Shes not caught up in trying to look or act like someone she isnt. She has a genuine heart. I loved when she put a pause on the convo when Ms. Pat mentioned child molestation. Thats very serious and could be triggering to viewers. Anyways. Thanks for the pod ladies! Happy Holidays.
18:41 that’s what was happening in Richmond, Va and many states, I was in middle school in 2002 with kids being SA carrying there babies. My mother would take in all my friends and neighborhood kids that were pregnant, pregnant while homeless, or in domestic situations. It humbled me as a kid, in glad Mrs Pat survived it all
My ultimate fav episode it feels so good to breathe after hearing this woman talk. I don’t want anyone to think they can have power over me that’s all. 😢
Ms. Pat is quickly becoming one of my favorite people. I have watched all 4 seasons of her show and the last episode had me clutching my pearls. If no one knows what it means to watch a Dramedy, Ms. Pat show is a master class. I laugh and cry and learn and forgive. The way she carries herself and the stories help you heal.
Raven-Symoné & Miranda Hat’s off to you two, thank you for holding Ms. Pat within her trauma for those brief moments. Now I fully understand how she was able to release and move forward. I’ve watched many of Ms. Pat interviews she tells her stories but, there is always a section missing the “how to heal” part. You two have closed that gap for me. Ms. Pat, thank you for reassuring me that I am moving in the correct direction.
Ms Pat is an absolute Gem she’s so right about forgiveness you have to release it I know it’s hard but you can’t live holding on to baggage it weighs you & your body down that’s why Ms Pat looks so beautiful she’s free ❤❤❤❤
I did know Ms Pat before your show. Thank you. She is phenomenal 😂 our life stories often demonstrate the lack of social concern and laws to support women and girls
...WOW, I never watch the Ms. Pat show and did not care to much to watch it ,but this interview really changed the way I see her. How honest and forthright about these horrendous traumas still has me in awe,but it is inspiring to listen too. The baby daddy needs to go to jail for a long time. Period!
I love Mrs. Pat and how real and raw she is. It's rare to find someone that has been through what she has been through, has made a name for herself and is still true to who she is.
