Reading a lot of the Bible passages about God’s law helped me understand: It’s like going from one level to the next. Level 1 is needing to look at the written law (Ten Commandments) to determine if something is right or wrong. Level 2, God has written His law on your heart, so you don’t need to consult the written law, you KNOW if something is wrong. Romans 8:1-11 God’s moral law never changes, it’s just kept in a different way.
And the Holy Spirit can actually change our desires so we don’t want to follow our sinful tendencies anymore. I was so amazed when He did that for me in one area. I have a lot of growing to do, but now I know God can help me! Because of this I have hope I didn’t have before. My decision, my request in prayer, God’s power to set me free.
Oh and I’m not trying to keep God’s Law to be saved, because I’ve already failed and deserve death. I keep it because Jesus provided a way out, and He said “If you love Me, keep My commandments”. Well, I’m very grateful for what Jesus did and He has my loyalty, so what else would I do? Trying to put the cart before the horse is legalism, but getting rid of the cart all together is disobedience. The cart comes after the horse.

I can see a lot of backlash comments coming out of this statement. Taking money from El Chapo would be very controversial.

In my opinion, the church shouldn't accept donations from any drug dealer. it could compromise the church in the wrong way.

Good day Pastor... if I may. In my humble opinion... even tithe from drugs... let it stay in the devils hands. he has no audacity to give money to our loving God who owns everything any way. I hope I don't sound too arrogantly

So disappointed to hear your response from your own opinions rather than from the Word of God.
If I was hungry and my wayward child brought me roast pig to eat, I would lovingly thank the child for their concern for me and acknowledge their heart is in line with the 5th commandment in that respect, but explain (as they likely already know) that their offering is not in line with God's wishes and that while I appreciate their kindness I need to keep my life in accordance with God's way and trust that He will provide for me. So here. As for the church, God said in Isaiah 58 He doesn't want the fast that comes while one is oppressing their workers and the poor. And in Psalm 51 He says that the sacrifice that He wants is not burnt offerings but rather a broken and contrite heart.
As for what the wayward child should do with their ill-earned gain, Zaccheus said he would return what he had taken wrongfully multiple-fold, in accordance with the direction given in Leviticus. Further, accepting an offering from a grateful repentent is also different than accepting it from one still living in sin and often trying to justify that sin.
Taking the ill-gotten gain for ourselves or our church, while not an unpardonable sin, puts us in a biased position limiting our ability to speak the truth in the future, as well as putting the church in questionable territory more likely to be viewed with disrepute from the public. If you have guidance from the Bible or EGW to contradict my view, I'd be happy to be enlightened.
