Excellent video! I love that you showed making it on a home sewing machine. Not everyone wants to or can invest in a Industrial strength sewing machine and might be to intimidated to try. Perfect pattern for the beautiful Cork fabric I purchased from you that sews up so nice.

Great video. The tips on making the strap connectors and straps are priceless. I would never have thought of doing that and I've been disappointed in the ones I've made. Question...I notice you clipped the curves on the lining when attaching the side panel, but you didn't on the vinyl. Do you need to clip on the vinyl? So glad you're making these videos. I have the same machine and just love it.

Sara, thanks, thinking of making bag for a gift. Think I will sew strap on at the same time as the rectangle strap in sewn to sides. Will post a photo on FB when finished. Should be up med Nov 2020.
I tried with fabric first and I definitely checked the 1 inch square. Perfect. The gusset did not work. Over 1” short. Why?
I’ve tried twice…the pattern for side gusset comes up at least an inch shorter than main body piece. I ended up adding some to the gusset to make it fit but curious if anyone else had this issue. I’ve printed at 100% and use the same printer for a dozen bag patterns, so I don’t think it’s my printer. The main pattern is 18.25” (half) and gusset pattern is 17.25” (half) what am I doing wrong??
I tried with fabric and had the same issue with the gusset being too short. Did you figure out why? Or did you just make it longer?

I love this bag, and I am going to give it a try. When you use a magnetic snap on this bag, will it affect the magnetic strip on cards that you may be carrying on cards such as check card, gift cards, or credit cards?
I've never had a problem in other bags with magnetic snaps.

My 3rd time making this bag .
1st in Leather , 2nd in denim and 3rd one made from a woollen scarf , using the tassels around the top of the bag ❤️❤️

OMG! Thank you SO MUCH for this! I ready to sew my first bag! Two questions: What material thread (polyester, cotton, etc) do you use and what kind of foam? I just bought Thermolam. Would that work???
Sara uses aurifil cotton thread in 40 weight, but you can use polyester too :) also she uses a sew in foam called soft and stable from byannie. The Thermolam will work except your bag will be a lot slouchier than it would be using the foam. Not a bad thing in a hobo bag, but if you want to bag to stand up by itself you'll want to use foam.

Hi Sara, Could I make this from marine vinyl? Is so, would it still need the foam interfacing? Also because you have a double thickness of foam when joining the sides, is this too thick for a normal sewing machine.
Hi Sara, I'm new to your channel and new to making bags and wanted to try your free bogo bag pattern. I have a few questions. I looked at your shop and was wondering if one sheet (not sure the amount you get) of the faux leather, would it be enough to make the bag? Also for beginners would you recommend working with this fabric? It's a bit costly and you don't get much. So if you mess up...😱 Thanks

I do not have the leather, however I am using cork fabric, however, I did see your video on using the Juki
machine. I see that machine in my future as my Viking does not like the heavy stacks I have been using.

I asked Sara what she used and she said that it might have been Aurifil #2326 or Aurifil #2312 but she couldn't quite remember. Also we don't carry that rose gold faux leather anymore. The one we have now is different to the one Sara used on this bag.

You can. I added an extra inch then cut. If you don't do that it'll come out really small😂ask me how I know🤷🏽🤦🏽🙄

Is there a way to make it a little larger?
Instead of printing the pattern piece at 100%, print it larger. Try 110% or 120%

Excellent video! I love that you have started doing these. I have a quick question about the cork. How important is it to use the foam behind the cork? I ask because I'm wondering if I chose not to use the foam, perhaps it would "slouch" a bit more for a different look? Or is the foam needed to give the cork more strength? Thanks!

PATRICIA QUILES the interfacing she uses is medium weight so I guess you can use any medium weight interfacing.

Hey, Sara! New to your channel. I subscribed after watching the first video this morning , and I've watched 4 videos of yours just so far. 🙈 I wanted to ask, what sewing machine do you use? I use a Singer 4423, I don't know if it'd successfully sew most of your projects.
She uses a Juki TL 2010Q machine. I couldn't sew her patterns on my Babylock machine so I purchased a Singer heavy duty 4452 machine and it works well on all those layers. Since my machine is similar to yours check to see if your machine says its "heavy duty" and if so yes you should be able to make her bags with no problems.

I just use the needles that come with the machine and I used polyester thread because it had the only color that matched the bag that I was making. Sara sells thread in her shop and I did purchase some but I haven't used them yet. I need to get more colors, right now I just have black, white, and gray.
