New to reloading and I felt this video was the most helpful of all my searching.
I appreciate the little extra details like how you manage the cases between steps and your inspection process. The part that worries me the most is trusting that the powder dispenser meters consistently and that I'm reading the scale properly.
You can get a digital scale that reads out to the hundredth of a grain. If you do the conversion, you can use a medical scale and get the thousandth of a grain.
@@theindooroutdoorsman, I've found that my powder measure is very consistent with ball powder, checking it against my RCBS mechanical scale. Even down to 4.7 grains for pistol cartridges.
You're a natural teacher man, I had to sub instantly. I just got this press last week and my dies etc for 9mm. I have used the lee handloaders and I reload shotgun shells, so I'm not completely green. But, I was pretty lost at first with the press though. Your video has me pumping out great 9mm ammo that runs as good as magtech or similar high quality range ammo! No more of the poly coated, aluminum cased crap for me! I haven't had much trouble and am overly cautious. I can appreciate you stressing checking the powder loads, double and triple checking, as well as checking the weight throughout the process. You made this easy! I bet my wife (doesn't even shoot guns, lol)could watch this vid and go pump out 50 rounds I could use! You don't use all the professional reloader jargon and have all these tools I don't have like most the reloading vids I've watched. Simple and to the point, but thorough and easy to watch. Great job on the vid and again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that I found THIS vid. This video got me reloading right away and thats important to me. Ill watch for more tips and tricks in the future! I'd love a subscribe back if you like watching stuff get blown up, casting bullets and jewelry, treasure hunting... anything worth filming I upload, lol! Thanks again and be safe! Happy shooting!

Thank you for not wasting our time with useless wording . very informative.
Never used the beam scale that came with my kit once. I bought a digital scale long before I actually bought my first press. I like the precise reading of a digital scale, rather than the "it looks like...." I also bought a weight check set to keep it calibrated though. I know that is more of a "want" than "need" purchase, but I am a real "gadget" nerd. lol. Great video, though!
@00 00 Good advice, but I am more of a "go to the range and plink" kind of guy, rather than a precision shooter or competition shooter, so the variation really is not that noticeable for me. Appreciate the new knowledge though! Cheers, Michael.
Easily the best reloading video on youtube
I learned to shoot when I was seven years old fifty one years ago. But I'm just now getting into reloading.
This is one of the most informative videos I've seen on the subject. I hope you keep it up.
I would increase the lighting and maybe get a clip on microphone.
Good stuff on your channel.
@ 14:53 that is Not a micrometer, that is a digital caliper. Just a heads up 👍
I always decap before tumbling, helps clean the primer pocket out more.
jerry miculek doest clean the primer pocket.
@@terrence7802 He also has ammo poured on him like water on a wildfire.
Thanks for the great video Kolton. Nice job with all the details.
So...worked up my load before I saw your video. I'm loading the exact same powder and bullets you did. Cool.
Great presentation. Thank you!
Very informative video... Would you be willing to create a list of the equipment you use and others that you would recommend?
I prefer ball powder over stick or flake. Accurate no.2 ball powder works great in my precision powder poured. So smooth to pour and fill and move on. Great video
Good video! Thinking about reloading and using the same set up as you have. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Ill be ur 💯 comment and i thank you! I needed this!
Nice video. Do you ever have to trim the cases? If so how do you do it?
Enjoy the video. That is a Challenger press? Thanks again.
Well done with precise steps. Thank you
What model did you buy? I’m looking for a kit that has literally everything you got. I’m really digging that primer loader setup.
Looks like a Lee Charger
I started with the lee breech lock challenger kit. Its a great kit and pretty much has everything you need to start reloading with the exception of components. But I just upgraded to the lee classic turret press. So I use both. I am in no real hurry when I reload. I just put on some tunes and reload until I don’t want to anymore. Like I mentioned I did go with the turret just to speed things up slightly but I am still able to do quality checks through the reloading process. Anyway good luck and hope this helps.
@@fudozanokamae2579 It’s the Lee breech lock challenger. Not charger 💀
It’s the Lee breech lock challenger. But your going to have to get quite a bit more stuff to start reloading that won’t come In the kit
@@sawyeralexander06 thank you for the clarification.
Used a RCBS single stage for 40yrs
Get yourself a pan for that scale it will make it easier and faster than removing the it every time . And with lee carbide dies they recommend you don’t clean your cases . That removes the need for lubing cases . You don’t need to on carbide dies .
you are using the same bench as me lol.
What i do is that i decap it, put the primer into the primer seat and pull the brass half way down to check the primer pocket is clean before i fully prime it.
Love this video! Is that Lee Crimp die at the end included in the die kit?
waterloo
Have you estimated the cost of reloading the 9mm cartridge assuming you already invested in the equipment? That is cost of powder, bullets, and primers, with and without cartridges cases.?
I am trying to determine if its cost effective to load your own.
Suggestion. Please talk slower on future videos. It was difficult to understand you at times because your words seem to run together . Overall good video. Thanks
It's very cost effective when there is none. Like now.
Right now is a good time to buy; I’ll pay for itself.
That was very informative.
Hey man I know this video is a few years old so idk if you still check comments, but figured I'd ask.
Ive been reloading exclusively rifle cartridges for a bit now, and I'm looking to get into loading 9mm. Do you ever trim your pistol brass? I've seen differing opinions online. I imagine pistol brass doesn't grow as much as rifle brass when resized. Also, should I worry about cleaning out or decrimping the primer pockets of 9mm brass? Also heard differing opinions on the topic. Great video! Very informative!
Great video information.. I see a powder scoop in your die set.. have you used it for loading your powder??
Great video! Thank you
Nice video. Thanks
Dang this takes forever. Over an hour for 50 rounds? I am either going to save up for a progressive press with a turret, or wait until I am truly desperate for ammo to get a single stage reloading press.
Great vid thanks buddy
Great video!
Great job on the video. I just purchase Lee Precision Breech Lock Challenger Kit (Red) Come with almost everything i need. I'm in the process buy what other things I'm missing. But I'm looking to reload 9mm. I have a couple questions. Would you mind doing the seating on the dies please. how you set them up the correct way and finding the right right seating for them.
Now here are my questions these are based on glock 17 9mm / xd 9mm
1. Right now I'm buying reloaded rounds that are 115 gran. But I don't know the powder what is the ideal powder and what is the best or good powder to use?
2. testing out ammo should I start with 10 rounds of certain gram then do other 10 with more gram?
I keep hearing doing to many rounds and your gun doesn't cycle I believe that's the term is bad for your gun.
has that ever happen to you that you made bullets that locked up your gun?
ONce again keep up the good work on the videos and I hope to see more video on how you setup the dies.
Thanks,
thanks for watching
1 I use titegroup but your best bet it to goto you local gun store and ask to see what pistol powder they have then consult your reloading Manuel
2 yes that is how i developed my load and the only thing that will damage the gun is loads that are over the max
I have not had that happen i would recommend the Lee FCD it does a amazing job of making sure every round that goes in your gun is not bulged.
As long as you stay within the bounds of the reloading manual and make sure every case has about the same amount of powder with the bullet seated to the same depth there should be very little that can go wrong.
Great Video!!!!
Good video !
I wish you would have linked the products!
Your a lot of equipments to share us how to use it thank you from team Kurt Salonzo
So the factory crimp die is something different than what comes in your 3 die kit?
That box looks like something I know. What is the projectile used in this video ? And what grain?
Great video thanks
I think I'm still trying to figure out what you do to set the dies.
@John Beige yeah thats what I did. Just re-read it and went slowly.
Are you saying grains of powder or grams of powder? Nice video, good job.
I'm new to this I loaded a 147 with 3.3 of w231 and it shot fine.
you should make links to where you got your stuff to make it easier forus
I have the lee loader kits for hand loading with a hammer .
Can those dies be used in those machines .
45 70 , 45 colt , 45 acp , 38 357 , 9mm .
How did you decide on 1.149 oal? Your own testing? Book? Website? I just started reloading and I'm using 115 Xtreme RN with a starting charge of 4.3 grains of Win. 231 and I keep seeing a oal of 1.1. But when I do 1.1, it visually looks like the bullet is seated so low. Trying to figure this all out since I'm a beginner and I want to keep my hands.
Where did u get the primer tool for the press
What about reloading the shells that aren't brass? I've seen nickel or a light color metal shell. Can these be reloaded?
Yes. Nickel is just a coating. Aluminum can be reloaded as well
The powder and primer you are using is " Hornady" and CCI primers , any specific number , type I should use ?
I noticed that your bullet does not have a cantullure. Can you still get a good taper crimp with no groove?
Does this come with the priming arm?
Hey I know this is old video ..can you post links for press and dies please ...I'm new to this and honestly clueless on what I need
So does the Lee Factory Crimp Die straighten out the glock buldge issue ?
Thank you.
Thank you!
Thank you sir
Thank you so much
Is there anyway you can put links to the different items in your setup?
Majority of his setup looks like it came as a kit. I have the samething. Check out Midway.com, leeprecision.com, precisionreloading.com, Amazon, or generally just google reloading presses or reloading press kits. I personally believe it’s alot cheaper to order the press as a kit rather than ordering everything separately because some of the smallest things can run you close to a $100 bucks or little more. When ordering the kit be sure to pay close attention to what comes in the kit get as much as possible with it.
You should prime the cartridge when size and deprime.
Did you or can you make a video how to set up your dies?
Any truth to the rumor that your not supposed to shoot reloads in A glock pistol. Thanks for responses.
When do you need to resize the bullet??
total cost of everything to make a 1000 9mm rounds? micrometer, press, powder, everything. worth it?
Well do you think it’s worth it now?
why did u not say which die u set up when puttin gthe powder in??
Hi what do you have you case overall length thank you
If you use a powder that fills you case more than 1/2 full, you cant get a double charge with out over filling the case.
@Rick Rickerson Lately I have been using 231.
Just curious if you push the handle forward like you do for priming, but the case is already has a primer, will it detonate?
Unless you are hitting it extremely sharply and hardly there is very minimal chance it will
Go green!
what about the expanding die??????????
Do you not cut and debur. No reloading videos talk about this
My God man your rough on my ears with the camera, but great video!
Rifle is actually easier then doing pistol.
Some lights would really help us see what you are doing
I hate cats I'm sneezing already and way great job....
It's funny you mentioned Glock first it's probably because the glock recommends you do not use reloads in their firearms
Hard to watch anything were someone says it's your boy. Lol
Always remove your primer seater when you have charged cases.
Nice name lol
