Practicing and playing from sheet music is important! But it is just as important to detach yourself from the musical text and try to play freely. But how can you start with that? ❓
My idea of ​​free play is to deal with the pentatonic scale. Today we start with the pentatonic scale on b, which means we have the tones: b - c - d - f - g
You will notice that with these tones you only have to use fingerings 1 and 0. The exception is the d1 with the handle 1 - 3.
The best thing to do is get these tones in your ear and play them up and down the scale. In the next step you go beyond the middle octave and can now use a much larger tonal spectrum.
Now you can get started and invent and play free motifs. Important: Don't play too fast. The biggest problem with free play is too fast, wanting too much. Always play slowly, change your tones rhythmically, repeat individual motifs, etc. 👍
