I went in with “this is Wes Balls audition to direct the Zelda Movie” in mind and bro fucking nailed it in my mind
Like you said, Nintendo won't give carte blanche to Wes Ball; they will be involved very closely with pretty much all aspects of the movie. With this kind of supervision, even if the guys from Game of Thrones were working on this movie, they couldn't mess it up.
Maybe I'm setting the bar too high, but I hope this movie will be as spectacular as LOTR was 20 years ago.
It won't. If anything, it will be a solid live action video game adaptation. And instead of LOTR, at the very most, it will be sort of like a better version of Eragon.
Funny that considering what happened to the final seasons of Game of Thrones.
Why do dudes ever bring up LotR? Nothing has come close to LotR since then.
Yeah, you're setting the bar way too high. The best we can hope for is the greatest movie adaptation of a game series (so far.) Maybe something on-par with the original Harry Potter films, the first few Pirates of the Caribbean movies, or even the modern Planet of the Apes trilogy. And even then, that's still wishful thinking.
Since director Wes Ball has taken inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli films for his upcoming Legend of Zelda movie , my hope Link x Princess Zelda’s relationship is as romantic but vastly understated where it comes out of the ' subtle hints' Nintendo has in put in recent games such as Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild.
Ganondorf should play a Palpatine-type role with Zant/Ghirahim's style character that can be like his Maul or Dooku. Then somehow it builds to him taking over Hyrule.
Here is is what I wanted to see in a live action Legend of Zelda movie:
-History of Hyrule, the Goddess Hylia, Demon King Demise, three Goddesses(Din, Nayru, and Farore) and the Triforce
- Ganondorf as the main baddy with some more in depth into his character with better witting ( which I Absolutely agree with your statement.
- Link x Princess Zelda's relationship ( a build up where they started out as friends at first until their bond grows even further as they become lovers as they are willing to sacrifice and love for each other over the course of their cinematic journey)
- A young and unfamiliar cast for the role of Link and Zelda
- Link’s inner struggle between being a Hero of Hyrule and his own happiness.
- Link's own family like his uncle, grandmother, father and lil sister
- Zelda’s dilemma of her role of sealing Ganon/Ganondorf away while she wants to forge her own path (as we have seen in Breath of the Wild); caught in between being what’s expected from society versus being who she wants to be.
- Zelda being given a strong women’s role (as seen thrown San, Sheeta, and other Studio Ghibli heroines) as well as being a companion to Link
- An original story ( not a copy of Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, or Tears of the Kingdom) that is well structured with it's own set of characters, a new version of Hyrule, and a epic action- fantasy with a dash of gritty realism that is build by confident writers.
Please God no romance between them.
Considering how much music plays a big part with The Legend of Zelda series (so many of them give Link an instrument of some sort) makes me think there should be some musical element to it. Granted I don't want it to be a musical but have music play a big part of the movie
Great review, guys! Saw the movie last night and I couldn't stop thinking about the Zelda movie at some moments during the film! Also agree that the visual aspect was really good, so those Koroks, Moblins, and monsters Link will be fighting are going to be amazing to see on screen. IMO, as long as the casting is on point, along a great selection for the soundtrack and story (either new or from an existing game), this will definitely be a hit!
Derek Connolly writing is also something I'm worried about. He wrote the Jurassic World trilogy and he's screenwriting the Zelda movie. Also Sony is known for studio interference, usually for the worse. It's concerning
We’re gonna have to judge it when the trailer comes out… if it does turn out to be BAD, then it SUCKS.
After Kingdom of the planet of the apes The Legend of Zelda film should be in good hands but as long as Sony doesn't Spiderman 3 or Amazing Spiderman 2 it meaning firce changes then it should be fine and do well
I'm sure Nintendo will prevent Sony from inserting some bs
I don't think Sony is going to butt in like that since this is a Nintendo property and we all know how protective they are if their IPs
This is Nintendo. They are super strict with their IPs, for better or for worse.
Should I watch The Planet of the Apes even without being The fan of that Movie Serie?
@@SaltyToad00Then do you know what will happen if the movie somehow flops?
I hope they keep it simple and make it a Hero's Journey Trilogy, loosely based on Ocarina of Time's premise...
First film (Courage): Starts with young Link, finding out the Deku tree dies. He goes on his Quest to get the Triforce for Zelda, who doesn't trust her father's new ally Ganondorf, and enlist the help of the Zoras and Gorons, it ends with him pulling the Master Sword, and Ganondorf invading the sacred realm.
Second Film (Wisdom): Starts with Adult Link waking up in the Chamber of Sages. Rauru and Sheik tell him they need to find allies to overthrow Ganondorf. He goes back to recruit the sages he met as a kid and bring them with him. It ends with Link, Sheik and the newly recruited sages getting attacked by Ganondorf and his people in Kakariko Village and the village gets burned down... Sheik is revealed to be Zelda and kidnapped by Ganondorf and Link is left for dead.
Third film (Power): Link wakes up, and meets with Impa, she reveals what she knows about Ganondorf and the Gerudo, Link travels to the desert, meets Nabooru and convince her to join them by destroying the witches. All the sages and their respective people storm Ganon's Castle, Link confronts Ganondorf, who takes the Triforce pieces from him and Zelda, uses them to transform into Ganon, and Link, Zelda and the sages seal him away in the Sacred Realm with the Power of friendship.
Oooh, a trilogy would be cool! ^^
If it's a trilogy, it should be like for Spider-Verse. The first should be a complete arc, while the next two would be a second arc. So, I imagine OoT being a first film, with the aftermath and MM as a second film (while foreshadowing a third film), with a new, epic conclusion film.
I think LAIKA (makers of Coraline & Kubo) could make the EarthBound films. EARTHBOUND IN CLAYMATION, that would be cool!!
Technically Laika use 3D printed items as opposed to claymation
Avi Arad is my biggest concern only because he is picky with Spider Man after all, Avi Arad is the reason Venom was forced into Spider Man 3
I know Avi Arad has done a lot of questionable things in the past in regards to movies and TV shows, but he has managed to produce very successful projects like the 90s Spider-Man cartoon. Arad was also the one who suggested making The Spot the main villain in Across the Spider-Verse
yall made me feel better about everything- now im excited!
It would be a unique change if Link didn't talk in the movie. Imagine a really dramatic scene of anyone overreacting during the all-is-lost chapter, but he responds with a grunt and some gestures to which the former responds, "good talk" in some unexpected spin
Wes Ball already heavily implied that Link will likely talk in the movie. He admitted such in a few recent interviews, and in his reddit AMA.
@@alexs29 In that case, the first few words out of Link's mouth NEED to be something IMPACTFUL. Whatever he says first is going to be memed to hell and back regardless, but I really want it to be something powerful and/or inspiring... and not just a reprise of the old "Excuuuuuuse me, Princess" line for the sake of nostalgia pandering.
Of course he'll talk, it's a movie! He's even going to be funny and cheerful 😅
@@davadh I have seen an entire show where the main character didn't talk. So it's definitely possible for a mere film.
Link should talk. This is a movie, not a game. But they MUST be accurate to his character, so he isn't a goofball like many of us players.
Good video. I’m hyped!
I’ve decided not to watch the Zelda movie because I’m positive I wont enjoy it ….. but instead of being negative and talking shit I just hope it will introduce more people to Zelda in general, and make it even easier to find Zelda themed items in stores lol.
LETS GOOOOOOO KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES STUFF!!!!!!! THANKS GAMEXPLAIN!!!
I would’ve picked Jeremy Shada as Finn the Human’s basically Link… but he’s more known as a voice actor than a live action actor so I guess maybe Cody Christian could play Link.
Once again, I don't know why Nintendo didn't get Studio Ghibli to do a Zelda movie that shit would have been majestic
Studio Ghibli has never adapted a video game and I don't think they are interested in doing it, in fact, I've heard that Hayao Miyazaki hates video games (though I think he hates modern technology in general) not that he would've been interested in directing a Zelda movie. We also have to consider that, except for the movies made by Miyazaki, none of the rest of Studio Ghibli'a films have been that successful, save for a few exceptions like Arriety. Just because Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were Ghibli-inspired it doesn't mean that a Zelda adaption should be helmed by them
100% I want CGi characters because of its Zelda unless they found actors that are 1 to 1 in a way. But I'll wait to see if W B does a good job at it.
Hope that after the Zelda movie comes out that Nintendo makes a Star fox movie. I'm not a fan of the games but I feel like a couple of Star fox movies could expand the franchise
Saw this movie today.
It was alright.
I havnt watched the 🐒 movie myself but i heard it was a solid movie. Definitely not a bad movie. But nothing groundbreaking.
Wind Waker Ganon is my favorite Ganon. He just wants his kingdom back.😢
Honestly I have a lot of hope for the Zelda movie, even if it's live action I think it will be an amazing movie
I'm the opposite on Maze runner. I think they get better with each installment
Wow, I can't believe Cesar is going to play Link in the upcoming Zelda movie.
All the water effects was done by the same team as avatar the way of water. So yeah the cgi is fantastic
When people tell you not to worry, is when you should worry
I believe it when I see it
I’m still reaming skeptical because it is being produced by Sony who doesn’t have a good track record when it comes to movie with few exceptions and Avi Arad who is a very notorious film producer, also its being written by the same guy who wrote Jurassic World Dominion and Rise of Skywalker.
True, but he also wrote Kong:Skull Island and Detective Pikachu
For the Zelda movie it needs a story like skyward sword
DO OCARINA OF TIME BEST GAME
It's nice The Legend of Zelda movie is a live action movie after The Super Mario Bros AWESOME animation movie and I believe Zelda movie is in Good Hands Sony Picture Entertainment and Nintendo himself, it's interesting to see the Team Work of Nintendo and Sony making a movie together. These are actors what I hope to see in Zelda movie: Link: Tom Holland, Zelda: Anya Taylor-Joy and Ganondorf: Dwayne the Rock Johnson. And I hope the Movie got inspiration from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild where Zelda has a longer hairs, not a short hairs. There should be familiar enemies and characters like my favourite Zelda character Midna. Can't wait i'm so excited for the Upcoming The Legend of Zelda live action movie coming in next year 2025, love the Reason there is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Monkey on this video's funny thumbnail! 😂❤
Some of these, I assume are jokes. Link and Zelda need young actors that can fit the role. Ganondorf needs an established actor with a villainous presence on the screen, which I don't believe the Rock can do well (also, the Rock is bald, and Ganondorf has luscious locks, which is an automatic disqualifier).
Finally, someone is being positive about this movie.
This is gonna sound crazy, but if Ruto the zora princess is gonna be in the movie, I think she could be played by Awkwafina.
WHY would he suggest live action, anyway? What is his excuse to bring the world of Hyrule to life the masochistic way?
**Goku does the "nasty" with Deku and gets him pregnant with a baby inside his swollen warm tummy**
*Deku:* _"A-ahh, Goku-San, the baby is kicking my tummy..!~"_
*Goku:* _"Huh?? Maybe it'll come out just as strong as me, babe I'm hungry! Hehehe..!"_
What?
*Zamasu did nothing wrong.*
Lol how old are you guys that you don't know how to say orangutan?
Zelda movie will be cringe non canon 🗑 just like the Mario movie and future Mario games, since Martinet is gone.
The Zelda movie won't be canon because movie ADAPATIONS aren't supposted to be canon to the sorce material
Even if Martinet was still voicing Mario, the movies wouldn't be canon. Video game adaptations almost always take place in a different universe.
@@SaltyToad00 good
@@mariajimenafigueroa233 good 👍🏼
@@onlygoodgamesofficial Also, Mario games are now trash because Charles Martinet isen't the voice of Mario anymore? Wow, that's just childish to think a franchise is now bad all because of one voice. 🤦♀️
