You used proxy nades, so you're avoiding the impact damage entirely on that roll. If you used ANY other mag perk you'd be hitting twice with each shot and proccing deconstruct in 5 shots. Heavy GLs were meta back in the day during season of opulence and Shadowkeep.
im a fool. lessoned learned for sure. I just did a run with the augmented drum and sure enough, I hit for 1.3 mil damage. thanks for the shout. ill do some better research in the future
Deconstruct actually doesn't work with explosive damage at all afaik. It takes 3 shots to proc deconstruct with direct hits, with explosive damage only I didn't get an ammo refund even after 6 shots. With sticky grenades it procs every 2 shots.

I did some dmg testing too. Came to the conclusion that if the dmg phase is like 30 secs and you dont have a strong back up dps weapon you are better off using deconstruct. Basically the same base dmg but you have way more ammo Edit: Here are some numbers: Envious + BnS 1,728,338 Sticky Nades + Deconstruct 1,725,284 Explosive Ordnance + Deconstruct 1,419,903 BnS roll was used with min maxing Backup Mag and Mini Frags switching to Boss Spec and Spike Nades before DPS

You are right that Deconstruct does give ammo back only after it is below the 7 mag threshold, but it still activated even above the threshold. My observation currently is that Deconstruct brings down damage per hit. so even though you get free ammo, you don't do as much DPS. I think I'd still recommend Envious B&S over Deconstruct anything because of weapon rotations during a DPS phase, but a Cascade or Field Prep would work fine with Deconstruct.
@@tacosmcnooge The part that activates is the 40% more dmg against vehicles, no idea whats causing the minimal loss in dmg tho. I got both rolls and I'm torn. Setting up Envious + BnS correctly with mod swapping etc is annoying while decon is just blow your load. However BnS DPS is very very high, but Deconstruct ammo economy is incredible. Really dont know man

Deconstruct in general, is bad. It's not some sleeper perk some random RUclips video tells you it is, total damage is not equal to DPS, and in destiny, DPS is far more important than total damage.

Which is exactly why thunderlord got the reputation it has despite being really bad for damage and dps, and 5.5 on rhulk isnt a great deal
@@sydious_s_snake it was 5.5 no super and nothing else aside well. Just the gun and run with my team who are all good players especially efficient and run meta load outs for encounters. The average a player gets on rulk or nezerack in a raid is 2-3.5 mil. Only players who are out putting excessively break 5 mil barriers. This will include all damage buffs, a super and abilities/ rotations. Edge did it alone with nothing but the well to stay alive. When I damaged using bns it hardly met that cap due to ammo economy when deconstruct with stickies cascade allows you to keep pushing. You need specificity sticky deconstruct and cascade. Not envious etc. It will out DPS in those encounters and out last. It won’t win in initial DPS where stacking buffs is better. But those encounters are good time slots for it. Same thing in pantheon. I out damaged everyone with it especially when you include buffs and supers. Then you need to look at its sheer amo economy. Even in a short DPS phase where something like bns may matter more you encounter lack of ammo. Meaning you’d have to either hope to scavenge or specifically have someone make it for team. Not only did it keep up, I never ran out of amo. I would generally lose about 4 shots for every 16-18shot. So when everyone starts switching weapons to sustain damage, you’re still shooting heavy.

And again, total damage is far less important, with the only place it mattering being inside day 1's when ammo can be tight. Decon having no additional benefits besides pulling ammo from thin air makes it niche at best Watch a guy called Aegis, he goes over optimal damage rotations and optimal things to be running, edge transit being one of them in a recent video, the calculations on paper show it's worse than bait, and after using both rolls personally, it's worse in practice aswell

It keeps up with DPS and in any encounter that you end up having to damage 15 seconds like nezerack, rulk, golgiroth, war priest etc it out does BNS. Then you factor in the amo economy. The moment you switch to special because you ran out for BNS is the moment you get out damaged by deconstruct. The translation of bns extra damage it gives over its reserves while having to continuously prock it also mind you is only 9-10 shots extra that deconstruct needs to achieve which it does and can easily while continuing to still keep shooting. That’s why I said bns initially does out DPS it but those encounters I mentioned you will lose to deconstruct over the course of the damage phase due to sustained output. Sustainable output will surpass short burst. The one time this becomes irrelevant is when your team is all crack heads and each of you do an absurd amount of damage instantly to one phase. But the moment you switch to special in that damage phase is when you get out done. Pulling free near unlimited heavy amo is not neesh. Most boss encounters have the same time slot as nezerack or rulk. Those are arguably long damage phases, not short bursts.

Could you elaborate? As far as I understand, Deconstruct just requires the hit to activate. Also if you note in the video, Deconstruct procs on the left hand side. It doesn't go over the mag size, but once you hit your shots, it procs fine.
@@tacosmcnooge Proxy ammo blows up right before the target. this cause only 1 instance of damage instead of 2 being the impact and explosion of the other ammo types. for envious it’s really dumb and may be a bug? but for some reason while you have overflowed mags sticky grenades straight up doesn’t proc sometimes. like just randomly will shoot a regular nade and then as well you can’t proc the deconstruct buff with envious also maybe a bug
