It was obvious to me that their plan for DC after Steve Wilks was Belichick but when he turned them down and everyone else had been hired elsewhere was to take a flyer on Sorenson but bring in Staley to help. Staley basically failed upwards after the Chargers disaster when we hired him but don't be surprised if we are in the market for another DC whenever the season ends and they won't wait as long as they did. In regards to special teams, it literally got us into the NFC Championship against the Packers with that blocked punt. So if Kyle doesn't acknowledge that, there's an issue.
The 49ers have the most players with $100+ million contracts or near $100 million dollar contracts than any other team in the NFL and that doesn't include the $200 million Purdy is going to command, and every elite game Purdy plays this season, that price goes up. It's no way the 49ers will be able to pay all these players and a fire sale will have to happen.
It's time to hold players accountable for their luck of effort. No matter what play the coach calls if players fail to execute it, it means nothing. Stopping the run is all about cap assignments.

and this is starting to remind me of the 2020 season last time we lost a superbowl, everyone got hurt and we didnt even make playoffs. our depth is trash... because they overpaid too many players that we cant have any good depth. remember the DL back in the day when we have wave after wave of high quality players? we let those high quality players go and other teams signed those players for a bargain. then we wind up signing hargrave, that is actually less than the players we got rid of but costs 3-4x as much. i would much rather kept dj jones for a fraction of the cost of hargrave.
