- Jonathan Green takes to the road in a Mercedes SLK AMG, looking at its performance, practicality, and style. Its 3.2 litre V6 engine produces 347 BHP and averages 25.2 MPG- Furthermore, it does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 140 MPH.
Love this sporty car. Great enthusiast car, best MB ever built in modern era of big, heavy sportscars.
I still have one of these as a daily river. I'm not sure what the AMG really means, but it does have the little rear spoiler, the AMG wheels and a full house of 'toys' on the dashboard. The V6 three point two litre gives awesome power and the ESP does a great job of keeping me on the straight and narrow. I intend this to be my last car as, when I bought it, I'd already reached the age when I could afford to insure it !
In this case the AMG means a 3.2 litre supercharged engine giving about 350bhp (Merc have never made a 2lt V6) uprated and lowered suspension as well as bigger brakes. At the time of production this was the fastest car in the Merc line up. They are still very quick today even though they are 20 years old.
My initials are AMG so I feel it's my destiny to buy one. I'm 36 and looking to buy an early SLK as it's my favorite model in the Benz history. Now to choose 32 or 55...
You say you drive one, but you don't k ow what an amg is? Also who spells out three point two, not just 3.2?

AMG is a pretty decently sized supercharger plonked on top (320 was NA stock)
It is limited to 155 mph, tweaked, it can do 188 and 0 60 in 4.4 secs
the chrysler crossfire srtf6 has this engine and gearbox
But not built like a Mercedes!
