Some great point made in this video. Answering most of my concerns with the battery power lights. Keep it up, I always listen to your advise, being new to this game! Will
If i had it my way, then I would have an ADJ fixture in an ADJ housing, but with a single cat5 ethernet cable that carries power and signal like in a DIY dmx rgb from Holiday Coro
With the uplights, when they are wireless, i get a lot of kids moving them around and stuff, but they never do that to the wired. Also all the money i spent on the battery ones, i could have gotten some more scanners or a better fog machine/
Theft of your DJ gear in general, not just battery powered lighting, is always a concern. A major factor where this comes to play is unfortunately the type of event and location/venue. Compare the risk when you perform at rock/hip hop concert with rowdy youths or a elegant wedding at a country club.
Great review man! I've personally been using wired up lights (Irradiant) for 2 years now and I love them. Of course I've gotten used to the cable management over this time, but I'll get the occasional client who just has to have wireless for one reason or another. Now I'm just looking for a solid brand of battery powered up lights that I can trust but aren't ridiculously priced.. Any recommendations?
Also, if you have 8 par 56 lights, each one is about 119$. So that's about 952$ Add the dmx board, 50$ 1002$. Add dmx cables, 10', about 10$ each. You need 9 to hook them up light to light, 1902$. That's a total of 1902$ for 8 par 56 lights. And par 64 lights are even more expensive (around 150$) If you used par 64 instead of par 56, the total price would be about 3000$. If you got 8 ezpar 64 lights (200$) each, that is only 1600$ and all you need are the ezpar lights. It doers use electricity to charge the easy par, but it uses just as much to power the other lights with the dmx cables and all that stuff. So basically, if you want to save a lot of mony, go with the wireless stuff. And even if you were to go with slim par 56s (which arnt as bright) it would still be about 400$ more then the ex par 64s. If you used 36s those arnt nearly as bringht as 64s, so I would go with the ezpar 64s no matter what. ALSO, the ezpars are RGBA (4 colors) VS. the regular slimpars which most are RGB (3 colors)
