  • Washington Commanders new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is a hard worker. Sam Fortier knows, because he once met him at 4am to see for himself. Fortier tells the story of the "offensive mad scientist," while also expressing his concerns about Dan Quinn's newest hire.

    I like that you're consistently bringing up the regression or stagnation of Kingsbury's offenses in the 2nd half of seasons. I really hope that makes Kingsbury's radar and that he acknowledges it and really looks to rectify it.

    They had Rick Spielman in as part of the selection committee and he's a proponent of " if there's a HOF on the board, you take him , no matter the position" Adam Peters is coming from a staff in SF where they were QB needy year 1 & the had the 2nd overall pick, but they swapped back A Pick so someone else could take the UNC QB then they went BPA. The Air Raid offense is the same offense Sam looked like a potential # 1 overall pick in, before he lost all the talent around him. An offense a lot cleaner and easier to read for a QB, without the muddy routes with guys ending up stacked on each other at the end bringing defenders to the party. Instead, there's plenty of RPOs to put defenses in conflict and help QBs out. We got direct quotes from players on the team in the Washington Post article on EB that said they didnt think Sam got a fair shot. EB's play calling was clearly detrimental to Sam and for the 1st half of the season, he could "overcome coaching" to Elevate and even carry the team at times, something you look for in an air raid. This could all add up to solving the WR problem Sam brings up by taking a potential future HOFer in Marvin Harrison Jr. Something that could probably still be accomplished after swapping back a spot with the Patriots and adding an extra top 40 pick with New England #34.
    That would let us give Sam a WR corps of MHJ, Terry, Jahan, & Dyami and 3 top 40 OL in a deep talented class to round out a complete massively upgraded Ol around Stromberg & Cosmi.

    We just fired a pass happy coach with a track record of winning only to hire an insomniac who runs a pass happy offense with a track record of losing.. Make it make sense.. 😅

      I was thinking the exact same thing, I don't think people realize EB wasn't the issue alone he catered the offense to Sam he couldn't execute

      @@Overthinker_1710man watchu just said let’s me know you have no idea what you’re talking about. EB did not cater the offense to Sam. He did the quite opposite. He dropped back Sam, a 1st year starter I might add, 50 times a fucking game. He did not involve the run game whatsoever, it was damn near non existent and when he did run the ball it was gun runs. Gun runs in 3rd/4th and short situations. No SCREENS, NO PLAYACTION, NO CONTINUITY, and most importantly not getting your WR1, a top 15 receiver, involved in the game at all. There was no rhyme and reason to what EB was calling. He was literally just callin shit off a play sheet and hoping it works. His route concepts were trash, WRs runnin in the same area a lot. Come one bruh let’s be real. Sam deserves some blame don’t get me wrong but EB deserves about 65-75% of it. AGAIN, HE DID NOT CATER THE OFFENSE TO SAM AT ALL

      This take is as oversimplified (and thus wrong) as DQ being Ron 2.0. Also, what @devantejones2615 said…EB did a bad job. Why do some of y’all cape for him? It’s getting weird.

    • @aubrey44
      @aubrey44 8 месяцев назад

      @@devantejones2615 Bro EB and Sam both said that EB only runs the plays that Sam was comfortable with, so he did cater to him in that sense. Also, in regards to EBs play design… Do you think EB recreated the wheel or did he do what every other coordinator in the league does and bring the plays he's ran at his last team? If you are talking about play design you are talking about Andy Reids play design, WHICH IS PROVEN. Sam JUST COULDNT EXECUTE IT, it's that simple.. Get over it

    • @aubrey44
      @aubrey44 8 месяцев назад

      @@craighoffman No, my statement is very simple and its factual. If you want to crown Kliff K feel free to crown him, but he has a history of losing at the college and pro level in the pass happy Air-Raid Offense.

    Craig I think your mention of this being an incredibly deep wide receiver draft might match with them hiring Kingsbury as his air raid system may be easier for rookie wide receiver draft picks to learn easily and get them up and running. Thoughts?

    • @craighoffman
      @craighoffman  8 месяцев назад

      I don’t think that’s why you hire an OC, but that doesn’t mean the class can’t be impactful here if they dip into it. Just have the cart and the horse in the wrong order haha
