Amazing video. I am turning 51 this week and have not touched any gaming systems in over 30 years. Wife bought me an oculus for Xmas and I was getting slaughtered in this game. Amazing how easy you make this look.
I noticed a lot of older people have commented but I wanted to also tell you thank you for all your help with these tips. I'm an older guy as well and I got a Quest 2 as a present and started playing Population ONE about two weeks ago. What a fun game!!!!!! I have met so many nice people and being with someone who talks and works coms well makes it so much better. I got really discouraged today because I think there were a TON of players at your ability and they were killing me right after I landed......I did not even have time to look for my caches and it was so discouraging.....which is why I watched this video. I feel good about myself playing against little kids which is also very hard when they are singing and giggling through my mic and just climbing the tower for fun while I get killed trying to kill teams on my own. Because I am new to "gaming" in general, I cannot imagine ever getting anywhere near your level but at least you gave me some helpful tips to try and keep myself from getting killed FIRST!!! Lol So thanks for taking the time to make this. This is a FABULOUS FUN game when "ability" is closely matched. Hopefully I can get better and I subscribed to get more help from your videos. Thank you again.
I just mute all the clowns and disable the mic. I know I'm sacrificing my communications to a degree and that many people get annoyed by my inability to talk to them verbally. But it's a good trade off. Trust me. Makes playing SO much more enjoyable not having to hear all these clowns. I love this game but I've never liked the social aspect of it. I don't understand why there isn't an every man for himself option in it. Or maybe there is and I just don't know.
Can you please make a video on team skills? For example, what should I be doing in a fight with a team? Should we all shoot at the same target or at different players of the same enemy squad? Should we be far apart, one building width apart or next to each other? Should one, two or three players charge at the same time or someone (preferably with an awp) stay back in case teammates die and need resing? Should one player be the "leader" and decide where to go/who to attack or should it just be the usual chaotic everybody-does-something and hope not to get killed? When should we "rotate"? What are the different maneuvers that can be done as a team and what are the situations suitable for each maneuver? Are there some typical roles a team should have (like a sniper, a charger, idk) that need to be filled for the team to be good, and you'd change role if more than one player can fill that role (if a teammate has an awp and I also have an awp, should I instead switch to something else or are two awp players better than an awp and a midrange player?)... Great tutorial. Though I am not so sure how important building and peaking is for beginners. The problem with peaking is that aiming with one hand is much more difficult, and a skilled player anyway aims for the head. And building... well, while you build you cannot shoot. If you are good in aiming, its often faster to just kill the opponent. I mostly build when I am already weak and need to recover or revive team mates. But I guess with some experience most players will find the tactics that match best for them...
New player here (less than a week as of this message) and I was wondering how you play with bots to practice? I've just been going into pub games and getting smashed working on these kinds of techniques. Love your vids and appreciate what you bring to the community! Much love from a fellow older gamer.
Just watched your video another handful of times to grasp all your tips and tricks and have one more question. You mentioned that we shouldn't play squads right off the bat to keep our level low, is matchmaking based on what level you are or is it based on skill (stats)? People don't develop skills at the same pace. I get PWND as it is in sandbox squads so i've been trying to get better playing classic squads, do i have to stop doing that if i wanna keep the difficulty down?
It's goin to be hard to keep your level low. I've noticed that after level 10ish, you can be placed against level 60s. Level 10 happens quick. This is one of the bad things about this game. I would simply keep playing sandbox and classic squads, until you feel confident, however long that takes. Caveat is that the main map has more going on for it. Just have fun, whatever fun means for you. Don't be too scared of the main squad mode, but just be realistic about results.
Great info and ideas. Just one thing..in the beginning try not to move your head all over. Hard to see your setting and just hard to watch. Otherwise great video
Not sure which time piece of the video. But I reload extremely fast, treat it like a toy, you can flick your wrists to reload and click the grab button quickly, you don't have to do the motions like a real gun.
Complete newbie here, just tried a practice, solo mode and there was a wall of red and announcement to go to a safe zone. I was just running from this moving red wall & picking up items, feeling like I didn’t even understand the goal. Are you supposed to look at the map and try to go after enemies & ignore the safe zone warnings? & I take it everyone is an enemy, unless you are on a team?
It’s typical battle royal- red zone gets smaller to push people together until there’s a final winner/team. Keep checking the map for the safe zone it will tell you
I highly recommend Sumatchi's keybind. It's one of the most popular ones. I just adjust the grip sensitivity based off my personal preferences, and how busted my controllers are.
No, turning off comfort vignette shouldn't be a generalized recommendation! What people should do should experience based and not on what works for you. Without that i could play it at all. Motion sickness and the question what exactly is triggering it is a very individual thing and people react completely different.
Absolutely! Grab wall with left hand, hold it, throw up (to give yourself time in air for the reload), pull in left hand and do the reload motion for the gun while you are hovering in air from the throw, then grab wall again.
Yikes, that's no good. VR affects everyone differently, took me a week maybe. I would recommend turning Off Comfort Vignette in the Game settings. Go to the shooting range, and just take it easy there, day by day
Yes it does, I don't think these guys know what they are talking about and rather make aim assist so strong you will look better and feel better but actually not realistic and if you click the responsive settings, it's the opposite of what this video tells you. Also it's better if it's not on head movement and better with your body because you can run one way and turn around and look behind you while you run forward. You can't if it's face tracked because you'll just run where you are looking.
@thejesse the recoil is easy to control for most guns (I have videos that show you how to master it one hand). 99% of the veterans play this way. This is an acrobatic game, and you need your off hand to do the acrobat stuff. Head or hand relative is not that big a deal, but all pros play head, because there are moves you cannot do with hand.

Been playing for 3 years, so feels second nature. But you can learn everything I did in 1 to 3 months if you learn correctly

Took me 4 years to learn all I know. If you train seriously and watch the videos, you can do it in 4 months.

How did you reload? Because I’m watching your video and I never see you reload is it because of the game mode you where in?

Start out with some single player fps like re4 or walking dead for 5-15 minutes. Chewing gum and mimicking walking are also a few other tips to try.
