  • Arctic Rescue at SeaWorld San Diego is the tallest, fastest, and longest straddle coaster on the west coast. This ride replaced the old Wild Arctic simulator. The ride features three launches and a convoluted layout jam-packed with twists and turns. But how does it compare to the other straddle coasters out there? Find out in this review.

I’m a ride op for Arctic Rescue! Glad you enjoyed it! We do run 2 trains on most days now, at the time of your visit the other train was out for maintenance.

Ah ok! It wasn't an issue during my visit since it was so quiet, but a local friend must have been unlucky seeing one train in their summer visits. The crew working the ride was great.

My foot got caught when I got off the ride and I flopped right onto the concrete. Hilarious memory and a fun ride.

I love Sea World SD, but man, I really wish they added something airtime focused. The park could really use that if they can get around height restrictions. Great review! I just binge watched all 500 something coaster review ids you made 😂

I'd love an airtime centric ride too.

I am guessing this is your least favorite of the three Intamin Strattle Coasters built by SeaWorld. Where would you rank this among the other rides in the park?

Correct, I prefer the other two straddle coasters in the chain. It's behind Manta, Emperor, and Electric Eel for coasters.

one thing i definetely noticed is that seaworld has slowly added more theming and landscaping to this ride. i rode it a few weeks after opening last june and none of the bigger rocks, cargo and signs, or the helicopter were there. also, there were less trees and it overall just looked less nice. but it seemed that almost every time i rode it i saw some new theming pieces and landscaping

It's definitely a solid family coaster & a really good addition to SeaWorld SD, but man the theming is just so unbelievably disappointing, sans after the exit & the helicopter. It could have been SOOO much better for fairly cheap. Such a bummer. Atleast its landscaped well, like you said. Great review!!

Thanks! The landscaping was enough for me.

I actually really like this ride, the first launch has a little bit of power, and the ride has some fun elements. Unfortunately, because SWSD has so little roller coasters, this ride had a very long wait, not helped by the fact that it broke down when I was in line. It is my 3rd favorite in the park (Granted I did not ride Electric eel on my visit) and Emperor is my favorite. I am looking forward to a review of that ride 🤞🤞

I made reviews of Electric Eel and Emperor in past years.

This is my second favorite ride in the park behind Manta. A controversial opinion, I know, but this ride feels complete to me and succeeds at what it is trying to achieve. The launches are punchy, and while the forces are mild, you have some good speed and a themed setting. Emperor has a great first drop, but the rest of the ride is so short and doesn’t particularly blow me away. It’s also basically a parking lot coaster with an atrocious setting and virtually no theming.

I prefer Emperor and Electric Eel (as well as Manta).

i go to swsd about once every two weeks, and i’ve only seen this ride run one train once. the capacity isn’t the best and the dispatches aren’t great, but they usually run 2 trains, and i mostly go on dead days. i’ve seen the ride usually gain long waits because of breakdowns and slow dispatches.

I visited on a very quiet day, so the one train ops were not a problem for me.

I have it behind Manta, Emperor, and Electric Eel.

I haven't been there since Emperor opened. I feel that if a park wants to go for a mostly forceless ride to please the families, they need to go with one that can have a shorter height limit. I'm sure I would still enjoy it though, as I do like Wave Breaker & DarKoaster for what they are. But a couple rides would be enough, then I'd be back over at Manta.

The higher height limit is my issue with the motorbike coasters in California.

Really a missed opportunity not having this coaster more out in the open for guests to see. It would be so much more kinetic going over and under pathways but it is most definitely a budget move to not do that.

Interestingly, it seems like the people on Google Maps really hate this ride. Just like how they don't seem to like Wildcat's Revenge as much as the other rides at Hershey.
