Another great review! Tapo seemed to be more friendly with most routers to Eufy alternative. Only minor gripe is no color choices for an outdoor cameras.
Thanks for all of your very helpful and informative reviews on the various types of security cameras. Please do the same on Amcrest and Night Owl cameras. Thanks Ronald
What I have learned in relation to floodlight cameras or just sensor floodlights is this. Thieves are as bold as brass, often drug affected and the idea a floodlight is going to repel or scare off a thief is incorrect. What I have witnessed by thieves at my home is a floodlight help thieves see what to steal or gain access to. I wonder how you replace the light bulbs in this or is it a throw away once blown?
True. They usually have their faces covered anyways and the lights will just help them see better. This is why it is important to have prompt notifications to let the homeowners know.
“The light source of this luminaire is NOT REPLACEABLE; when the light source reaches its end of life the WHOLE LUMINAIRE SHALL BE REPLACED.” ☹ Wondered the same thing and luckily found that info in the user guide viewable in the Tapo C720’s Support page (TP-Link website).
I had this for a couple of months now and noticed that strange mounting issue mentioned in the video. I had to buy a rubber gasket then probably put half a tube of outdoor caulk so it is very sloppy. So far it has been running solid and love it! I wonder maybe someone can suggest a good workaround for this mounting issue as Im not confdent of the Workaround I did.
I'm subscribed to this RUclips channel and I greatly enjoy all an each of the camera reviews here, but there's something I would like to share with everyone. I installed in my house 8 Ring Cameras, 3 Eufy, 1 Kuna and 1 Reolink Argus 4 Pro. I can tell you without a doubt that the Ring cameras are superior in clarity, color and reliability compared to all the other ones. Yes, I know, Ring did not catch up with the advance in technology as all the other brands, and they also charge you an annual fee to make them work properly, which is a bummer. But specially the Ring Floodlight pro has a definition, color, reliability and angle of vision unmatched by all the other brands. I got really disappointed with the Argus 4 Pro. It is supposed to be 4 K and wide angle but the image resolution, color, and vertical angle of view is not as good as the old 1080p Ring. This is just my opinion. Thank you!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Im slowly moving away from ring to this tapo ecosystem but that flood light video quality kinda makes me want to keep my ring flood light. What y'all think?
did you know if they added the possibility to have low dimming in the night with the possibilities to go 100% in case of detection?....this is crucial to avoid to double the light point! tnk! no find the info on tapo webside 😞
Replaced my porch light with this camera a few days ago and found the dusk-dawn floodlight schedule doesn’t work properly. It can turn on at dusk but doesn’t turn off at dawn. Hope you can test this feature to see if it’s a firmware or hardware issue. Maybe the light sensor on my camera is faulty.
I replaced all my wyze cams with tapo c120 cams a much better camera plus no subscription and notifies me quick but there is one problem everytime an animal walks by it notifies me as a person detected and I only have person detection no pet other then that I like tapo cams so far thanks for showing this
Someone is doing the Kool Aid Man tic tok challenge on my back fence repeatedly. They are waiting until nightfall. I’ve contacted the police, but they cannot help. Do you have a recommendation on a good night vision camera? The fence line is probably 25 feet from the back of my house and there is a paved trail. My house is a little older and two stories and currently no Ethernet wiring. I have a back patio light that is somewhat bright. Thanks in advance!!
My only fear with tapo cameras is the sensitivity to Wi-Fi. I own the C120 installed next to the Eufy pro 2. Both connected to a mesh Wi-Fi made by Tp-link . Many times the Tapo keeps buffering like it's not connecting to Wi-Fi but I know it has so I'm not sure if it's a firmware update will help or the Wi-Fi hardware is not sensitive which in this case you cannot fix.
The Wi-fi is mainly for streaming or sending a notification. So the recording should still be safe? However, you could potentially miss or have a delayed notification.
I have eero mesh and I haven't had any issues with the Tapo cams especially their wired ones, they load up pretty quick. Now, you can check to rule out if it is really the camera to your WIFI is by putting your phone in cellular data with good signal and test again. If it is, then it is the camera to WIFI connectivity. There are instances that your phone is connected to the same wifi as the cameras, it will have some connection issues.
@@LifeHacksterI have the eero mesh too, it helps the buffering. Also I used to have a splitter for Tapo and an old Wyze V3. The Tapo doesn’t like that, make sure to use the Tapo power brick and not share or split it with another cam. Just an FYI, hope it helps.
Can you tell us if TAPO has a setting in the app for a custom notification ring tone? Is this a subscription ONLY rich notification feature? The TAPO app I use for the C520WS camera, the latest version I can update from Google Play, NO subscription, does NOT have the option for a custom ring tone for any notification whether it be people, pets, autos, or "crossing a line" alerts. It ONLY uses the phone's DEFAULT ring tone on my Android Pixel 7 14 OS This LACK of a custom tone is NOT a good feature for a security app. When you get 10+ alerts an hour in the busy part of your day, you want the notification that a camera has DETECTED a trespasser outside your home, to be DISTINCT from your default ring tone. Fortunately I also use EUFY cams around the home and they allow for a custom ring tone. Is TAPO proactive in adding missing features.
Respect the work that you put in these videos🫡, but when you have stranded wire you have to use a ferule for your safety and your family safety, so please take this in consideration
Definitely had been looking forward to this review! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I was waiting for this. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I think there is much to be desired with the video quality. However this is solid for Tapos first floodlight cam. Great review Hackster!
Another great video, thanks 😊 👍
Thanks again!

Thanks for watching. I did review some Amcrest before but their app and software are somewhat outdated and needs improvement.

I'm curious as well.. what to do to replace the lights once lights no longer work

Bro, you have thieves at home?

I set mine dusk to dawn and I'll let you know...or make a comment again tomorrow so I'll remember ;)
It is a firmware issue. Mine didn’t turn off too this morning. Hopefully, they will fix this soon.
Great review, thank you so much! Can Alexa turn the lights on and off via command on this floodlight camera while always?recording?
The design is awkward indeed, also a strange mounting procedure! Love the review like always!
Do you have your powerline frequency set to 50Hz? there other cameras have 15, 20 and 30 frames.
It is in Auto which is the default but I did try changing it to 60Hz and I can now bump up my FPS to 30. Thanks for letting me know.
Can you set the Flood Lights Auto On Duration to turn off after 10 secs?
What do you recommend
Riolink cx410
Or tapo color pro?
I made a comparison video -> ruclips.net/video/vPbQHa65iNc/видео.html You decide which one you like.

If these mounted to normal junction boxes then I would replace my WYZE FL V2s as I hate the subscription model.
As long as your junction boxed are flushed to the wall or ceiling, this will work fine.
@@LifeHackster I have surface mounted junction boxes.
tapo should add activate the alarm manually to all cameras
I know. Hopefully, they update their other cams.
💐🌹🌷💐. What is the voltage of this camera?
110-240 volts
Tapos Floolight Cam or Eufy Floodlight Cam E340?
It is going to be the E340.

Tapo makes good products. I've been using the c120 outdoor cam for almost 2 years now.
C120 is pretty good.
Why 2 of the same model, but different name?
You should test the notification at night too
Suggest something better
No wonder he doesn't review imou camera's there absolute 💩

Thank you for your concern. Just a note that the extension wiring that Tapo gave are also stranded.
