- People across Northeast Florida are getting ready to shoot off fireworks in celebration of the Fourth of July. Several communities, including Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, will hold fireworks displays. But for military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, they can be triggering.

As a veteran with PTSD I expect fireworks during the whole week of 4th of July. I will sit in the backyard and judge your show.

This is 100% very true. I tried for years to enjoy the celebration on the 4th. Every year it would be a great day until the bangs booms and whistles start and I would loose it every single year. It's depressing. The only solution we found that worked was finding a quiet camping spot for the night deep in the mountains. We ended up moving out to cattle country to get away from it all together and most of the time I'm good, until a neighbor starts target shooting and wigs me out. It's not nearly as sever as the fireworks and I usually end up in the crows nest scouting the area until I find my way back... I thank God every day that I have a reasonably understanding family.

A lot of people LOOOOOVE VETS and totally appreciate their sacrifice!!!!
I always thought Americans believed vets deserve the WORRRRRLD!!!
But it allmooost seems as if, they don't really care about vets, OR their welfare, if it involves them having to do ANYTHING that SLIGHTLY inconvenients them for the sake of these vets. 🤔🤔🤔
