- The Michigan Wolverines entered Game 2 of the 2019 College World Series Final just 1 win away from winning the College World Series. It would not be an easy game for them to win, however, as they had to face Kumar Rocker of the Vanderbilt Commodores. A Vanderbilt win would force a winner take all Game 3 on 6/26 at 7PM ET. This is a condensed form of the game.

Man Michigan did not look as sharp as they have recently...errors hurt and cannot be made against a team like Vandy unfortunately they are that good especially with that Rocker guy on the mound...praying for a game 3 miracle
they made a ton of errors against ucla. I sat there and couldn't figure out how the heck they ended up winning because the whole time i was thinking "well those errors will catch up to them at some point". also the catcher for michigan is a liability, defensively. i assume he's there as a serviceable catcher but mainly to hit because the kid has horrible technique when he has to block a ball.

@Ryker Jet I mean sure vanderbilt, talent-wise, is a much better team. The original guy posting is right in what he was saying though. Game 1 they played a lot more consistently and got a good pitching performance from their starter. Sure, Michigan's strength of schedule wasn't as difficult as tough as vanderbilts. But they had a pretty damn tough road to get to the college world series. Game 1 wasn't a fluke and does an injustice to their performance. You want to say that playing in the toughest conference supposedly hardens you and makes it easy when playing big games against teams like michigan, well what happened to vanderbilts starter in game 1 besides walking a ton of guys and giving up a good amount of hard hit balls.

Recliine ...the first game he gave a couple pass balls too and missed a pop up. But he did homer later in the game.
Catcher definitely struggled in both games.

havent watched much michigan baseball this year. is their catcher normally this... bad? looks like he refuses to turn the glove over and get on his knees to block pitches in the dirt. Cost them a few baserunners last game and a few this game too. good sac bunt though.
503C he also stays on his one knee. I am a catcher and we all have those games but he could really prevent that by just staying off that one knee it would make him much more mobile as a catcher and would result in less passed balls
this Michigan squad was glory for kumar to dominate they way he did Mets need to work with him for sure.

In no way did Michigan deserve to win this game. Bakich essentially took a knee on this game and wanted to give Kauffman an extra day rest. However, the strike zone for Michigan hitters was like Richie Sexton was batting and the strike zone for vandy hitters was like altuve was batting. Just some consistency.

All I wanna know is how a college level catcher can't stop a ball in the dirt? A walk becomes the same as a triple. I'm hoping he gets his act together for this game 3. Go Blue! (yes I know some of the pitches have been awful tonight but regardless of the pitch, the last several games he tries catching the ball in the dirt like a shortstop instead of like a goalie, which has caused the ball to skirt past him)

Two of the wild pitches you can’t blame on the catcher. Both balls were 2 feet wide of the plate and bounced 6 feet in front of home plate. Also he’s a college catcher.
