I was 6 years old, and my mom would watch "COKE TIME" on TV with Eddie every day. It was a 15-minute show, and my mom was as happy as can be ! Thanks, Eddie, for giving my mom so much happiness !
Buddy Clark had a great recording of this song but sadly died in a plane crash in 1949. What a voice he had although Eddie certainly sings it very well.
@@1966sainters Pity he divorced Debbie if he hadn't met Liz Taylor they could have stayed married what will be will be you never know Debbie and him made a great couple
My absolute favorite singer. Had the privilege of meeting him twice. He autographed his book for me and sang my name song to me “Diane.” He was so very nice to me.
Thanks for posting this. It was on here before but as part of a whole program. Nice to see this by itself. Unfortunately Eddie never recorded this. So a live performance is the only chance to hear him sing this song which he sang many times in clubs and at hotels. Eddie is just a brilliant and incredibly talented performer.
Pre-teen these are the songs my older sisters listened to on pop radio and they imprinted on me. Even though it was Elvis and rock 'n roll for me when I hit my teens, this and other music from the big pop stars of the day still stand the test of time.
Louella Parsons, who was a gossip columnist, started the Eddie and Debbie push. Milton Blackstone, who was Eddie’s manager, said he thought Eddie should marry Debbie since it was in the gossip columns.
His recording of Anema ma Core is from the opera La Boheme; This is My Beloved is from Prince Igor. Yes. He could sing any lyric baritone song better than anyone else.
@@Ettoredipugnar Thank you for your input. I understand now exactly what you meant. I'm sorry that l "corrected" you. I do like his voice. It takes me back to my school days. Many many years ago, back when one could hear and understand the words of a song. Please accept my apology.
This explains why he was famous and attractive back then. I only barely knew about "Oh, My Papa." I am a late boomer in cohort age group with Todd Fisher. So, he was washed up and rock and roll was what we heard. We would have heard the older singers that were in movies, which left him out. Some other old style singers were on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, or maybe earlier on the Mike Douglas Show or Merv Griffin or maybe Ed Sullivan. Did Eddie Fisher ever show up on those?
@@bufb Oh man, good of you to answer. I will see what turns up. Since I wrote this, I heard audio book of "Shockaholic" by Carrie Fisher. She explained more about him.
I always liked Eddie Fisher,he had a lovely voice, but I have to say I prefer Vic Damon’s version Vic’s voice has more depth to Eddies, but both excellent.
The show is The Colgate Comedy Hour and the guy at the end is Eddie Cantor, a singer and actor who was the father-in-law of actor Robert Clary (LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes).
I never heard his voice before. It's not ever emphasized. I only know about him because of the Liz replacing Debbie scandal. Or Carrie badmouthing him. Good voice.
I haven’t heard a bad singer sing this lovely song, Eddie does a good job, I also like Vic Damon’s and Jerry Vale’s version, I would have loved to have heard the great Perrry Como singing it.
Eddie Fisher has a fine voice, he has power & vocal chords reaching higher than Mount Everest, but I was disappointed with his performance with the beautiful romantic ballad "You're Breaking My Heart"which was below par & wooden(perhaps he was thinking of Liz Taylor while singing) for his unique collosal vocal talent. His arm movements while singing seemed uncertain & very ameteurish &. he should study Mario Lanza''s arm & hand movements for that. Also, forget about the influence of Eddie Cantor. In respect of vocal talent you are in a higher league than Cantor.
Here he was 23. His voice was always great and incrementally got greater as he matured. I wish he had recorded this song when he was 40. The comparisons here to Vic Damone and Jerry Vale--to me there is no comparison b/c Eddie was not trained in any way. What you heard from all Eddie.

What a voice from the 50s pity he is no longer with us.
My mother and father liked Eddie Fisher.
Sweet.
A very young Eddie Fisher. The voice is unreal.
Unbelievable. What a great voice. So much better then anyone popular today. Someone should bring back his TV Shows for everyone to enjoy.

Beautiful oldies . Thank you for this Fantastic Song.
How come no one plays Eddie Fisher’s Classic songs anymore...fantastic voice.
I am playing it right now.

He was SO GOERGEOUS! And when he sings this Song he just does it for me - and I just go SO weak in the knees and want to fall at his feet...
Think how handsome he would look with a little help
Oh my god, what a beautiful rendition of this song.

Vic Damone was great too, I loved both, truly great singers.
I had the biggest crush on Eddie Fisher when I was a teenager. When he married Debbie Reynolds (that didn't last anyway), I dropped him. LOL
Tisha K. He is ugly.
Tisha K. I gather Debbie's mother ochestrated that marriage.

I did too. I had almost all of his records and albums and pictures. I belonged to one of his fan clubs.

SANG WITH REAL FEELING.

This is how singers presented themselves before Elvis. I think people can see how Elvis moving on stage might have caused quite a reaction.
successor to Al Jolson. But his personal life and the rapidly changing times eclipsed his career much too son. Best voice of his times.
This is why I'm looking for a man that could sing. Carrie's dad definitely had a strong voice.
i wonder if he could do opera. What a voice!

best voice of all the crooners.
