I actually don't own any Embers! I'm planning to get some in the next few months. I didn't want to use them in my video if I haven't actually tested them with shrimp yet.
@@ellies_exotics Good call! I think that is also the best method. Thanks for all the info, I think you will enjoy ember tetras when you get them. They are tough little fish with a lot of personality in a good sized group.
@@troywinterbourn564 hi Troy. At the time of filming this I didn't have Embers with Shrimp so I didn't want to assume they'd be safe for shrimp without first proving it myself 🙂
Great video thank you. I recently discovered some fry in 2 of my tanks so I took them out and put them in their own tank. There are about 10 fries in a 40 liter tank. They are about 3 weeks old and I also have 3 bloody Mary shrimps in there. Now I found 2 of the shrimps are berried and I'm very anxious that the fries will eat all the baby shrimps
Do you have a lot of plants in this tank? If you do and the shrimplets are able to hide, the majority should be okay. Just feed them some powdered food that spreads throughout the tank so they don't have to wander far to look for food.
@@ellies_exotics thanks I do give the fries powdered food and sometimes brine shrimp. I did put some plants and a piece of driftwood which has the best crevices. But I noticed my fry patrolling underneath the driftwood looking for shrimpers perhaps. I feed them small amounts 5 times a day so they won't be too hungry to hunt the shrimpers.
@@No_lavishness I would recommend getting Subwassertang since fish cannot swim through it but the shrimplets will be able to move around in it and feel safer.
@@ellies_exotics that's a great idea and I have susswassertang. They fly all over the tank and don't stay in a clump. That's why I don't know what to do with them. I thought maybe a new shower sponge could work.
@@No_lavishness get a small stone and wrap the Subwassertang around it. Then tie it with fishing line. It will naturally attach to the rock over a few weeks and start growing more lush. You can also attach it like that to the driftwood.
When I told a couple of friends I had decided to start back in the aquarium hobby with shrimp, every single one of them asked me if you can eat them as their first question. It hasn't stopped surprising me yet, lol
Great list! I would add Ember tetras to that list as well. They would be right next to chilis 🙂

good video ;-)
Thank you, Chris! 😊 I really appreciate it!
@@ellies_exotics i should send you some shrimp posters ;-)
@@chrislukhaup that's so kind of you! I took a look at your Instagram page. Your photos are incredible!
Can you use an aquarium decoration that has glow in the dark paint on it in a shrimp tank?

It's so weird every time someone asks that 🤣 we're a bunch of savages...
I kept my shrimps with two black Molly's....they never touch shrimps...and also never interfere in his business...
Good to know!
You can eat them and they taste good.
The picture off black man and eating smal shrimp was not nice...👊
Tetras?😢

No problems with any of the life bearers and I have all the life bearer species in my tanks. Many baby shrimp survive and grow to adulthood.
That's great to know, thank you! 🙂
