Just to clear any confusion: Most of these tips are for going to the non-tourist areas of Haiti. The tourist areas are similar to other islands in the Caribean and require less preparation. I have visited prior without any prep, but went to a high tourist area. If you are going to a non-tourist area, you'll enjoy it more if you know what to expect. I have really enjoyed all of my trips there.

Excellent video. I am headed to Haiti in 2 weeks these tips really help. I am a creator as well, and it can be a challenge. Keep up the good work and safe travels. :)
Skooty McGooty Thanks so much for asking. I went on Friday, and had to come back today. I just landed back in Saint Louis. Due to the political unrest I couldn’t stay. Starting Monday, it would be impossible to get out. Whew I barely made it.
Hi! I did go. I enjoyed my stay very much. I am possibly going again later this summer. My boyfriend is there so that was very helpful for safe transportation and knowledge of the country. 😊
nice. how long did you stay there? im scheduled to leave on the 24th this month and will be there for 1 month. any advice for me? (and just like you im going for church missions) (: thanks for the vid and God bless, Jesus loves ya~
I was just there for around a week. As far as other tips: Make sure the money you bring doesn't have rips or tears in it. The rest is rather dependent on what you end up doing there. Hope you have a great time and get a lot accomplished! (Take time to get to know the people. That was one of my favorite parts. We have two of our friends from Haiti visiting us here this month)
John Nam I’m not sure what next year will bring. Right now we have some of our friends from Haiti visiting us in the States. It was fun to catch up with them.
John Nam if you Haven’t make it to Haiti... my advice for you will be to go help those homeless plp in the state before you can start worrying about other countries. Great video Paul!! ..very good very informative. Great tips of what to bring to avoid problems ..wanting to go to Haiti ....what about credit cards?? .. thank you
The larger hotels, grocery stores, etc... may accept credit cards, but many places will most likely require cash. It can depend on where you are staying and what you will be doing. You can contact the place where you are staying ahead of time to make sure. Check the cash you bring with you to make sure it doesn't have tears/rips in it as they sometimes won't accept it. (make sure the cash is in good condition) Hope this helps!
Yeah, I felt safe. We were with some of our friends from Haiti so that helped a lot. If you don't know the language and what you are doing you definitely could get yourself in some unsafe scenarios just like anywhere else. Just make sure you do your research, know where you're going, how you're getting there, and where you are staying ahead of time. Thank you for the informational video. However, please stop saying « they ». You are the person who Americans and other nations listen to about the country. Yes I get it there are poor places! But stop advertising the country as a whole as a poor place. Just like any other country there are some places that are not developed so stop ✋ saying it like Haiti is the only one. Also, since you want to visit the country and you care so much about the Haitian people, how about put some of your money towards a nicer hotel? Visit our tourist attraction. Tell other Americans that those places exist instead of assuming that the only reason Americans want to go to Haiti is for missionaries. My economy would really appreciate it! Thank you.
Hopefully, you saw my pinned comment in regards to the difference between tourist areas and non-tourist areas which I also mention in the video. I was attempting to talk about both sides, but perhaps I failed since I filmed this trip which was not a tourist area. (Since you brought it up, we did spend a fair amount of money while there on construction equipment, lumber, ... )
@@TheFriendlyReviewer Your video is fine, you did not fail at anything.
