They used to do a phone quiz with spectators, and this old lady shouted "La Borra" (cum) instead of "Il Burro" (butter) on national television during lunch. It was awesome, nearly as much as when mister Giancarlo choose glory over money during the italian version of the "Wheel of Fortune", saying that the Amazons won battles thanks to their "Figa" (vagina) instead of "Fuga" (fleeing)

Asmon's whole schtick is pretending he knows everything, we all know he doesn't but we play along with the joke. when things get serious he's actually quite a modest man. The reason I watch him is because he fascinates me as a character, he plays the fool but has really impressed me with his wisdom.

It wasn't long before his mum passed away that he actually made a video talking about Asmon vs Zackrawr (a more grounded persona), and noted that they were both him of course, but they were characters designed to create a theme and neither were truly who he was IRL. Between the dumbass thumbnails and the persona of Asmon though, if you accept him at face value you either love or hate him immediately.

Garlic seems completely underrated by the community. Is it the best weapon for a kill build? Obviously not. Is it the best weapon for a new player with zero powerups or characters? Absolutely. Garlic is by far the best early game farming/safety weapon in the game (you literally can't die for the first few mins lol), and using Poe will allow a new player to quickly gain powerups and character unlocks.
Fully agree. It's utility is also surprisingly overlooked by many of the detractors on Reddit / Discord. It fits into most builds as a good early aggression weapon that becomes more defensive later in the run.
I legit see anyone who shits on garlic as a complete moron. If someone says garlic is a bad item, you can automatically disregard anything else they say.

Yeah, Garlic is not only good for early game but it have knockback for late game too, although it'll start falling off, and there are better options. The problem is, it's taking up a valuable slot. Leaving you with 4 or 5 if you're playing with Poe for weapons. Leaving you with less potential DPS for late game. If there's a way to "banish" existing equipment, I'm sure that Garlic will become top tier or automatic pick for that matter.

@13:30 It's hidden mechanics like this that I didn't know even after I've done and unlocked everything and achieved all my meme dreams that don't require MissingNo's random stats. I read Vespers as the description describes it so I assumed Duration and Cooldown became useless for it when it evolved. It's good to see that it doesn't.

Very fun and informative. I'd like to see more like this too if it's to your interest.
For example, Shirakami Fubuki, a Hololive Vtuber had a run on Dairy Planet when it first came out where she sort of by accident survived for 36:04 minutes and saw 7 reapers, which was the world record for a short while after it came out, and would still place her on rank 25 on the leader board for longest survival on Dairy Planet today.
Something like that might be fun to look at and give an explanation about strategies for survival type runs.

At about 6:50, Runetracer is really good for staying alive during waves where you're getting swarmed, as it's one of the better weapons for thinning swarms down to a more managable level. Also effectively scales up your Garlic/Bible since anything that can get that close to you has already taken Runetracer damage and thus, will be easier for your close-range weapons to kill.
Like you said earlier, the best defense is a good offense.

If someone trolls a lot, that's a pretty good reason to stay away. All too often, that kind of act is less for content and more of an excuse to get away with being a jerk. If someone needs plausible deniability on a daily basis, there's something wrong with them.
Really enjoying you VS videos, need to try and catch a stream! Quite looking forward to seeing you play other things as well, some rimworld meta runs would be good because I suck at that game as well and can get tips 😂

You did a lot of effort for this game man. I really hope Asmon pulls you in his stream while playing this game for a guide. You deserve some more recognition.
Some good tips. For example, I Did Not Know that regular Garlic was so good at negating anti-knockback. I tested it in the dairy plant (maxed out Unholy vespers, 100% curse) and was able to survive minute 29... barely. Previously, I tried the same build WITHOUT garlic and was instantly swarmed at minute 29.

I found your channel after I bought the game from watching Asmongold, and then going to the wiki to figure out the evolutions and character unlocks because I got pretty far on my own and wanted to see how far the game goes.

Once I realized rune tracer gets trapped and bounces around inside the flower 'house' area in the first map it was easy to win.

id consider clover over tome but thats just bc of the hours i have, if i was new or on a fresh save id 100% take tome bc like you said, it makes everything so much better.
Its so weird that so many ppl lack the mental power to understand this is not a game about challenge, you just become the bullet hell and have fun.

Played this game for too long yesterday, couldnt sleep because all i could visualize was the game with all the flashing effects.
I watched videos of him playing and a couple of yours and didn't know you died by the reaper at the end

i hope new updates to the game contain new harder maps that are really hard still if you have all upgrades

I didn't know just getting to 30 min was beating the level I thought you had to defeat death as well at the end.
How exactly is evolved garlic worse than regular garlic? And while not the best, that 1/hp a sec has kept me alive in some clutch calls. Just started playing a few days ago, but evolved garlic is one of my favorite items.
It’s not worse. Evolved garlic requires the red heart, which is very weak. If it’s a choice between soul eater and standard garlic with Spinach or Empty Tome or Duplicator, I would always pick the regular garlic.
i played a run where i upgraded every weapon i got. i was able to just sit in one place the whole game. also, my first win was Gennaro and i had no clue what i was doing, just grabbed all projectiles, no garlic, no defense, no bible but still won. i was just spamming WASD shooting things in all directions. it wasnt until i unlocked Poe, that i saw the power of garlic and bible.

I've made it to 30 minutes many times, but I never knew there were other items on the map until two days ago.
I honestly didn't know I beat the stage the first time when I died at 30 mins until I looked it up. I was just like wtf I was doing so well

my favorite thing about garlic is that it eats projectiles from enemies that i would otherwise walk into like an idiot. not a problem on all maps but on dairy plant and bone zone it is really helpful
I'm pretty sure he did not know that the end of the level is getting killed by death, I think he went into the game pretty blind apart from all the conflicting info from chat. He has watched some guides by now, but he hadn't that early on.
and here i thought garlic and tome was a terrible idea because I never got them to do high damage and since they're both circles, I thought they had the same affect

Alright, as a new player, I want to share my first wins in this game. To 30 minutes. First off, I beat max forest last for whatever reason, and. My win strat as I learned the game had become the clocklancet time freeze stick plus the two birds evolved, forgive me on the names here. I go, wherever the time freeze stick is freezing and or wherever the super bird is killing, they dictate where I run in a crowded area or I die. Even if my DPS is too low, I live by running in to enemies frozen by the time freeze stick. I didn’t have many different items going through the game since I focused my gold on more upgrades and didn’t start buying more characters till later.
My first win was upgraded bible garlic thunder ring firewand and knife/chaser cause the character started with it lol.

His surprised look at the end is not staged though. I had the same feeling when I started a few days ago. The text said "game over" while I really thought I had won the game and only afterwards it says "stage completed"
I got to 100 in my 3rd run. Friend gifted the game to me last night. I had no clue about the 30 min thing and was kinda upset something killed me out of nowhere.

Im pretty new to he game, pretty casual player and I play it from time to time. I had plenty of fun with the bear (panda?) that makes fireworks. Game is pretty fun, though I am more of a casual player.
when you see the level up requirements for a weapon doesn´t that means he already played? so it´s not his first time.

man, this game is amazing, i love it! i mean... is "simple", but, really good to play, i want to make something like it, but, i not want copy and want make it different... my TCC from 2017 was similar, but even simpler game, i just make random generate maps instead of same level always, soo, start really different, but, i want make different style of itens... not sure all mecahnics yeat, i restarting making my own game after playing vampiry survivors and be amazed again with games, before it, i was only, work code shit stuff, as a full stack dev programmer that enter in college to make games, this game has soo much of my love, that ignites again my love to make games LOL...

I think an important fact to know is that he goes in blind and doesnt play out of stream.
Soo nobody can expect him to know much at all not even the basics cause he didnt play much at all.
Also his stream focuses entirely on entertaining so he never plays seriously or optimizing, cause he knows that his fails and trolls are also pure content, those are the reasons that make him the ultimate casual player when it comes to new games.
Also the way he trolls is creating his auto memes that make it funny watching the stream.
Like him always going garlic, and always saying that garlic is the best weapon in the game, BIG DICK GARLIC BOYSSS
Or listening to chat trolls.
Also he states many strong opinions for the sake of making himself seem stubborn while still going back on many of them.
Rune tracer legit solo won a map for me, when I evolved it and noticed it exploded on contact with walls and that I was about to be ran down (25min) I went to a corner in the library and just spammed explosions on top of myself
it was my second library attempt and first time past 12 minutes, I felt like a fucking genius
made it to 31:02 (first reaper was stuck running into a wall)
I guess evolved garlic, fire wand and lightning might've helped a tiny bit

I too had the reaction of "what happened" at 30 minutes. I has to RUclips how to beat 30 minute boss to find out that I'm supposed to die. I'm was very upset cause i spent so long just to die. So I wouldn't say his reaction was untrue.
Garlic is overall trash, but 2-3 levels early almost guanratee your early game, and enables you to farm really fast and prep for a easy farm for next waves. It's great mainly with weak characters.
Also for a starting build, it's really good. Once you start you won't have your powerups. Revives, Duplicators... So garlic is pretty solid. I just wish it's evolution was a bit better.

One thing to remember about a lot of his exaggerations and excitement is that he's focusing more on being an entertainer than the game itself. He's focusing so hard on garlic and talking about how op he is over simple things like a boss kill because it makes the viewers laugh. I'm pretty sure he picks the wrong items on purpose sometimes for extra hyuks as well. There's a reason Asmongold is one of the biggest streamers out there. The man knows how to make an entertaining stream.

actually i didnt know you died at min 30 either , so when i reached and died i was equally shocked ... like ??? so you die what did i do wrong , i didnt notice the maps had a lenght on the side so for a while i had no idea how to kill min 30 lol
Also winning level 1 with 0 upgrades is really hard haha. He definitely needed the fat stack of gold that he already had
If bible’s cooldown only starts when the duration ends, how come with enough cooldown and duration it starts overlapping?
It’s hardcoded to Bible’s base duration. Once bible levels up or you take any increase in duration, there is a window that opens up where the cooldown can be reduced below the extended duration.

Wow, this was super interesting. I started playing this game after watching Asmongold's stream. I have 3 unlocks left, + all the random cards. This game is super fun, really enjoying it! And because of Asmongold and this game, i found a new youtuber to subscribe to!
Hope the devs add more maps or allow player to create one that would make the replayability of the game more potent
I think there's a road map of a ton of content they plan on adding.
I think the roadmap has not too many new weapons, a handful of characters, 5th and final main "story" map, but like 2 or 3 more "challenge" maps like Green Acres (random wave types) and 1 more "bonus" map like Il Molise. And 2-3 more like fundamental systemic things like the Arcana. At least as of whenever it was last updated. Who knows, maybe the spike in popularity results in more. Or maybe this roadmap plays out and the guy making it considers another new similar retro game, he has a good feel for the style and gameplay I think.
