Look you I speak english My family came from Ireland Therefore my people over there speak in an irish accent Yes they speak english but the accent is still there Atleast you used half of your brain but if you would have used all of it you would know that all though many people speak english The accent is still there 😊 Depending on where a person is from Depends on the Accent People in America have lost their true accent and have even developed other one's

You have such an enchantingly beautiful voice. The only comment I would make is in reference to public speaking; you have a lot of verbal pauses, such as um and like. I used the slowing down technique you mentioned in public speaking to relax and pause without verbalising.

you're the most passing voice I've heard so far on RUclips. it doesn't have random bass from head slips and the inflection is natural female. if only I needed and English accent, but I'm American, so I feel what you were saying about vice-versa :)

When I first saw your videos I never knew anything about you. I just thought you were a very determined young woman who believed in herself and her dreams. It was only as I started following you that I began to get to know your story. What an inspirational story to follow. You have always looked, acted and sounded like a woman, and now knowing more about you, even more of a woman now. I know from listening to other videos and the news that there are many who are going through some transition. Watching and listening to you, and other's like you will give so many the inspiration to be who they are born to be. Big hugs Charlie ☺

Such a helpful video--thank you. I know I've struggled with feeling silly or embarrased and you're right that at some point the only way through is just to embrace that and try to have fun with it. Also, finding a place where you can safely experiment while actually talking to other people, like talking on the phone at your job, is so helpful. I mostly do that at a local trans group, but I'm working on practicing with my partner as well by saying that I'm going to speak in a different voice and asking them to be patient and supportive. Still a ways to go until it's sufficiently automatic to multitask--that really is the litmus test.

      Hi Kimberly
Her voice is amazing isn't it.
I'm trans (mtf) as well & just curious as to how your transition is going? that is if you did or still transitioning. The reason as to why I'm writing to you is that I need like minded acquaintances/friends to connect with. I checked out your channel and was amazed by how many similarities we have in common mainly guitar playing, metallica and make up.
After making this comment I will subscribe to your channel and hope that you are notified and reply.
      Thanks ✌🙂👍🇦🇺

wow! you say you can’t sing, but you SOUND like a trained vocalist when you speak. i’m a classically-trained singer myself [lyric mezzo for now, but i’m FTM and on T so it will be changing soon], and the smoothness of your voice reminds me of the way that one of my former voice teachers spoke. you’re awesome, lady! :)

great video, thank you. Your voice sounds wonderful.
I had a few lessons via a NHS voice coach, but she really had no experience with TG. The part I find hardest is the state of mind, not being afraid to make mistakes and sound ridiculous.
A big problem I have is that when I relax with someone I think they won't be bothered about how I sound and I don't try as hard as I should.
I think what would help me is having someone I could practice with. Self taping doesn't work for me.

A great tip is to download a guitar tuner such as Pitchlab and speak into it. It shows the pitch you are speaking at as it jumps around ...B3...C3...F2...C3....Without even realizing it a girl for all seasons it speaking generally at the C3 level this is also where my voice is when I raise my pitch to my vocal cords. It gives an objective read telling you the exact pitch you are speaking at and then you can practice saying anything you have memorized like poems or famous speeches so you can look directly at the screen while you are speaking...It gets you there to your entry level voice fast but then takes a year and a lot of listening to get the inflections and to infuse emotion. Your advice is tremendous I have listened to it over and over because your voice is perfect, flawless and natural. Thank you so much for your videos....

Hiya, good to meet you the toher day, slowly working through your vids but was drawn to this one as voice is still something I'm very much aware of and feeling a bit lost with....I had some group sessions too via my gender clinic which were helpful but it's hard to keep up the breathing exercises etc, I think I need to go away and think more about what you said - I too am good at mimicking and had the same problem with finding stuff online that wasn't American!! Keep doing the good stuff Sarah xx

    • @GoCharlie
      @GoCharlie  9 лет назад +5

+Sarah Stephenson Hi Sarah, you too :) yes the group work is good when you're there but you have to be disciplined which is tricky when life gets in the way... I practiced in the car every day on the way to work so 2 x 30 mins - it was exhausting but it did get results... I also think it's good to record yourself and then vary and try different techniques to experiment as this way you can make breakthroughs and hear your progression over time :DBest wishesCharlie xx

so lovely and fascinating. Just like your experience were at the end it all popped, for me as wierd it may sound is your demonstration of lowering to your old male voice and back into your correct pitch and tone. Your description of the vibration from the chest and transitioning to the head finally made sense, and your right; it is very difficult to articulate that process. Thank you love and stay quick :)

Hih thanks Aimee, that's really cool :) I really struggled to find anyone from the UK to 'model' my voice on - I even looked into a few actresses for inspiration. I love Kristen Scott Thomas so she was someone I looked at - and she speaks fluent French so she totally rocks in my book!! :D

    • @Malmsteen734
      @Malmsteen734 9 лет назад

+Aimee Moran I've actually found that I do a (bad) british accent as well. Actually there's a show called Outnumbered that I love, and I do what I call my "Karen voice". It's actually an imitation of the mother on the show, but I pretend I'm talking to the daughter Karen in a kind of exasperated mother voice. I know it's odd, but I feel it's my most feminine voice. It sounds quite natural actually. The only thing is I have trouble dropping the accent and sounding American! The funny thing is, when I'm in europe, I wouldn't mind having a British accent because I hate being American. One you get asked constantly about George f'ing Bush and second because I think people look down on Americans in Europe (that may just be me though) anyway enough of this rant ...all the best :D

Wow, your voice is perfect ❤. Hope I get near that perfect level one day. I'm English but also sound a bit nasally. I was considering having my vocal chords shortened after future trachael shaving (few months of before I start transitioning and need funds in place for surgery), but you show that it's not necessary 😊

  • @alanamarie464

Oh my, what a lovely voice! Love the idea of transferring accent imitation skills to timbre imitation. I'm still very early in the voice transformation process, and now you've got me thinking about adopting one of the British accents! If I'm creating a new Me, who says my Me can't be, say, English? :)

With regards to low and breathy everyone should listen to Mariella Frostrup who completely bucks the trend of the typical female voice but at the same time is clearly feminine. Great analysis and I completely agree the feminine and masculine range do crossover so glad this has been mentioned. Very interesting and as a musician I fully understand the importance of muscle memory. I have not heard that before re: French lessons so that is interesting and must have been a bit of a horror story for you. Excellent vid and sounds like you were being very musical with your voice changing the tempo, using quiet and loud etc.

You have a very believable and natural sounding voice. I've not had a bit of of surgery. I went through Kathe Perez's programme and apparently now have been told over the last year or so that I fail and sounding like a man, even when I do a very deep voice people tell me that I sound like I'm trying to sound like a guy. It just took a few years of training.

Thx! This will be very helpful for many girls I am sure..and I agree with you that voice is one of the most important parts of transition! I would put my voice right up there with facial feminization in terms of my ability to pass naturally in life..It makes a huge difference in "passibility" imho....... and btw...your voice and whole presentation is very beautiful! I loved listening to you! Thx for sharing your secrets!

I have got to crack this. I have crippling vocal dysphoria and a lot of my future happiness is going to depend on it.

Ever since I had a tracheal shave, I have not been able to have a high pitch voice. Even pre surgery i could reach higher notes with my guy voice. I had voice feminization surgery, but it did not help any. My surgeon later told me that perhaps my trach could be paralyzed a little from the tubing used during the shave.

Hey Charlie, i think your voice passes quite well, i myself have been listening to women's voices carefully and i think it's true many women don't have ultra feminine voices. It seems i'm doing so fine in this department as i have a naturally fairly high voice and i've been able to slip into it naturally since the day i first walked into my church. As soon as i get dressed i'm Claire, 100 percent commitment, also (a tip) i open my eyes more, you know women on average have bigger eyes, i believe it dates back to prehistoric times when men squinty-eyed were totally focussed on hunting thee woolly mammoth whilst the womenfolk gathering berries had wide eyed eyes keeping an eye out in all directions for incoming rapists amongst other tribes. But your eyes are gorgeous. I'm just blessed i guess, the one thing that freaks me a bit - i put this in my last comment on a previous video but deleted it as i didn't want to worry you but i get a vibe of a slight 5 o'clock shadow, but if you're passing ok that's just fine - actually this is one of my main concerns - i shave very carefully but my skin has limits and is affected from over-shaving so my only recourse is to foundation - before frequent shaving my skin was very good but applying just the minimum of foundation needed is now the best i can do, but surely i believe i'm doing ok as i am quite certain everyone who hasn't know me before accepts me as female. As a bonus, hey, wow, your name is an anagram of mine, except for the h! In my case i'm thinking attitude and breezy confidence has a good deal to do with it - for me the key has always been not being ridiculously effeminately feminine but just being an ordinary woman. Like you. I'm revisionist double binary - my story is i've been female all my life. It's subjective truth/mythology, but lol, is my life an enigmatic parable for the post post modernist generation? Blessings to you Charlie.

After 15 years of my transitioning, I finally got my first speech lesson yesterday. Omg that was so cool 😁 and while I was thinking 'Why didn't I start earlier with this?' I also thought, okay, no more 'What if's, I just redo my 20's at my 40th. Fun fact is, I've a lot of space to practise my voice in empty busses driving back to the garage, but I already have been busted twice, I thought my bus was empty and still got a passenger I didn't noticed. Very embarrassing and just so funny 😅 Have shared this video with my speech coach and she said afterwards I've the range to get there around 200/215 Hz. You rock Charlie, founding out your story, the N24h and the start of the renewed me, it's just timed perfectly well 😁😎

Little update. Whyyyyy I'm so lazy haha. Just did a 3km run, the earplugs died on the battery and so I tried that simple thing you did at the end of the video, placing my hand under my chin and my voice changed immediately. #neverstoplearning

    Hello Christina
I was walking around today and was thinking about what you said about Nicole Gibson. When she went under the tag,Miss Glenny,I'd listen to her and think that her voice seemed as if it was mid toned between boy and girl.To me it sounded fine and thought that I'd like to be in that area voice wise.I used to laugh at her antics and look at her lift and pub shots and think that if I ended up half as nice then I'd be fine.I wish she'd re post them for the new girls coming thru to watch.
On a different note,In Sydney, near to where I live, there is an organisation called the Gender Centre. They put out a magazine called Polaire,It has an archive going back to the seventies,so if any of you would like to look at it you will some of the articles of help in your journey. The editor has travelled as a TG,extensively through out the states but I don't know about the UK.I hope you all find this resource of help.
    Emily

    To my fellow TG sister:
Girl, first I have to say your voice sounds great, no way anyone would say you weren't born with it if you know what i'm sayin.
And as for your physical appearance, I'm gonna put it this way - Emma Thompson was always quite a hottie to me, and you look like a cuter version of Emma, so...wow :) Cheers!

I have advice if any one here needs help on getting there pitch up comfortably when u speak. 1. Practice doing ur highest pitch by counting to 100 then drink plenty of water, if you can't go to 100 try to go as high as u can and then count to the highest number u can, take a drink and start over do this at least 5 times , if ur throat hurts take a break its ok , a few hours, if ur throat hurts still wait longer then when it doesn't you go practice more , record your self like she said in the video when u do , and when u like what u hear when u talk comfortably then u dont need to practice with ur highest pitch for practice just use the voice ur comfortable useing and always make sure u drink water lots of in when u do these practices ok !

With my voice I had bronchitis nearly a year before I started...and I just kept my voice pitch above the 'croakyness' and by the time I started my voice was sounding naturally feminine...I can't even get down to where my voice used to be anymore...
