    2:56 with the arrow…I believe that could be one of those new fangled “shared junctions” (I could also be completely wrong) that are appearing in a lot of urban environments. They supposedly make things safer by making everyone slow down to work out what everyone else is doing by having no give ways (as odd as it sounds it sort of does work).
    However, this is the first time I have seen one with something in the middle and personally I would treat as an unmarked / unprioritised roundabout
    Odd indeed

    • @smilerbob
      @smilerbob 11 месяцев назад +1

      And checking online once I finished watching the video it is does look like a shared space junction
      Google the phrase “shared junction uk” and the first article shows a demarked roundabout or two where there is no real priority and everyone is to slow down 👍

    • @Ciorram1
      @Ciorram1 11 месяцев назад +2

      Looking at it, it does seem triangular rather then A circle you'd expect from most roundabouts. So I think you're right @smilerbob it's either a shared junction like you said or possibly a 3 way junction.

    8:30 How should the lorry get in to that gap behind you, which is shrinking, while you are the one that is slowing down and thus creating a larger gap in front of you? I would speed up to create more room for the white van to merge behind me and for myself to move over to the left lane in front of the white lorry. When lorries overtake on both sides it should ring a bell that you are driving slowly for the conditions.

    • @benbarley917

    3:28 Well, it's definitely NOT a roundabout. There are no give way lines anywhere. I think it's either a poor excuse for some sort of traffic calming or (more likely) an attempt of a shared priority junction (like you would see on Jersey or similar).

    Hi. First time viewer. Great content. Hopefully you will highlight the terrible disregard or ignorance of lane laws. Travelling from Twickenham to Leavesden studios daily I use M4 from j3 to the M25 and then M25 to j19. I think folks believe that lane 1 is haunted. Truck drivers commonly sit in lane 2. Most accidents on motorways occur when a driver is changing lane. If you have to make two or 3 lane changes out and 3 back to lane one you are statistically much more likely to be involved in a collision. I think that taxi drivers should have to take an advanced driving test as they are carrying people around. They seem to be the worst culprits and the obligatory sticker in their car identifies them. Would you allow your loved ones to be driven around by one of these people?

    My big hate is the way people join and leave the motorway and I'm sure alot don't know when joining its not up to the vehicle already on the carriageway to move over for them and let them on. It's up to the joining vehicle to match the speed and join safely.

      If it were a roundabout it should be, err, round (at least at that scale)? So given it’s roughly triangular shape I’d say there are some missing give way markings.
      Would be interesting to know if all three “roads” have the same name. Assuming one doesn’t, then that should be treated as a t-junction. But how you’re supposed to know that without road markings I don’t know. Proceed with caution!

    It's not whether some of these guys have got licenses. I'll tell you what one of the biggest problems is: foreign drivers. They bring their bad driving manors and habits with them. I had a foreign professional driver blocking my garage, which has a drop kerb in front of it. When we started taking pictures of the vehicle number plate (because we have registered our drop kerb with the council and so can report when vehicles are parked blocking our access to our garage and a warden will drive out and give the vehicle a ticket) he suddenly got out of his vehicle (he was in the back with very blacked out windows) complaining about his privacy. He had no clue that he is not allowed to park in front of a dropped kerb, even if there is no yellow or white lines. Then, he threw all of his rubbish, which included a KFC box and an empty bottle of orange juice, onto the road. I'm sorry to say it but standards are slipping in this country because of foreign drivers.

    It could be a regular thing me commenting here...
    Out this afternoon taking my son for food and I decide to drive back from the nicer parts of Swansea, through an industrial estate next to the train station. It is a fairly direct route to my parents house where I was heading.
    There's a point turning into the industrial estate where there are lights which are a pain and you should (as there's room) move forward after the lights go green if you are turning right to go into the industrial estate. A driver in front of me didn't move despite plenty of room and I waited a while before a brief beep and they edged forward very slightly. Before I could give a much longer beep I saw the end of the traffic coming towards us and there was no point. After all, if you are in position ready to turn you can take advantage potentially of a smaller gap. No box junction (and the exit was clear anyway) so absolutely no reason the driver couldn't move forward.
    It wasn't an Audi but they drove like an Audi exceeding the speed limit and not handling lights right until the next ones when I caught them. I swear I seem to be an idiot magnet with this car or invisible having had roundabout issues also this morning with a young driver who looked at me as I was turning right on a mini roundabout and decided it was ok to go and not give way to me.

    12:16 Why would you pinch a bit of the wrong side of the road on a blind bend. If you examine driver's steering they tend to turn the steering wheel slightly earlier than the bit of road which is under the car. This has an effect of drawing the vehicle towards the inside of bends. A lot of drivers do not know where the front of the car is and at junctions stop too far back to effectively see along the main road and turn out at they see no vehicles. Unfortunately they can only see a few yards down the road.

They won't let you ride safe, they came up with dual carriageway mentality but there's nowhere safe for bikes or trikes (I ride a trike, they don't wobble but they're wider than those silly token gesture strips that are supposed to pass as cycle lanes for Chrissiks
