    I had a Fiat 500 behind me as I drove into the village close to where I live and although it's 30mph I was driving slower because of sharp bends and it's a single track road. The car behind, the Fiat 500, looked like it was actually in my boot it was that close and it started flashing it's lights at me. I stopped and asked if there was a problem, something hanging off my car maybe, and the old fella just said could I get a move on as I was driving too slow. I didn't say anything but got back in my car and drove at 15mph for the next 1.5 miles until he turned on to the main road.. What a cheek🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fiat 500 drivers eh!!

    They could soon stop pickup in a drop zone. Employ wardens that when they see a vehicle pull up and not drop anyone off, tell the driver to move and do not allow them to pick anyone up, even if waiting there. I say this even though I have done it myself at Stansted. The difference is that I know that my wife will be there with one bag and it is a case of stop and away within two minutes, the same as a drop-off. It is not so much the picking up it is the vehicles that get there before the passengers and end up blocking the bays.

    The problem with carers who work for home care providers is that they have so many people to visit and they only get a few minutes at each location before they have to move onto the next one. This means that they are always racing from place to place. It's no excuse for bad driving, but the fault lies more with the heavy workload allocated by the employer. More time should be allowed at each location with a fewer number of visits, but of course this would cost more money.

    Sorry mate, you got that last clip totally wrong. You say there are two lanes going in to that roundabout.
    Really? How do you figure that one? You were improperly overtaking the van just before the roundabout. Show us the white lines with your little yellow arrow that it's two lanes. I think some impatience and lack of observation on your behalf. If I saw you creeping up like that, I'd have taken a position in the centre of the lane, defensively, to block you. It's one wide lane, there is nothing for you to believe it is a two lane road/roundabout.

    • @donaldjames3912
      @donaldjames3912 Год назад

    • @thelondondashcam
      @thelondondashcam  Год назад

      Oh dear are you the van driver by any chance?
      Because he obviously didn’t use common sense either.
      You can see 2 lanes going to the beginning of the roundabout can’t you ? Please say yes because if you can’t see that then there’s no point carrying on, now do you think 1 lane just disappears!! No they both go around the roundabout, there is plenty of room if the van driver ( You ) takes the roundabout properly.

    • @donaldjames3912
      @donaldjames3912 Год назад

      @@thelondondashcam , there just aren't two lanes there. The traffic has moved over as a courtesy to cars like yourself turning right so, when the queue is stationary and safe to move by, you are enabled to. But rather than taking that as a cue to use the opportunity sensibly, you chose not to stagger your entry to the roundabout, as would be sensible, and all you had to do was back off by 0.1 seconds to facilitate that, you pushed what was obviously a bad pattern of traffic.
      The problem here is that you created the problem and you are unwilling to see it, even if it was two lanes you could have easily staggered the flow to allow faster traffic, but it wasn't 'even'. It was actually one lane. Take another look.
      Now, you may not agree, but let's consider why you might not agree .. because the road was wide enough for two columns of traffic. Oh, OK, so that has become your definition of two lanes,, 'if it is wide enough for two lanes, then it is two lanes', because if you actually look again there are zero road markings up to the roundabout and zero road markings on the roundabout.
      Maybe you didn't notice? Maybe you didn't look, you just assumed it was two lanes?
      Like I asked, if I am wrong, please add your yellow arrow showing the lane markings, if you please.

      I'm just saying on this occasion you're not right. You usually are. But sometimes you seem to get a grump at other road users when the problem might possibly be you overreacting, and you just have to chill.🙂 Seriously, just go easy on other people with the name calling, none of us is perfect. I think the van actually helped you out, you can see then put their foot down, they could see their exit was clear so rather than slowing you both down by trying to go wide, they just nailed the pedal (for you!) to clear the roundabout earlier. They didn't have to do that (for you) as the traffic was stationary for them ahead.

    Please don’t take this the wrong way, but you mention defensive driving at 10:05. I understand what you are saying but you aren’t defensive driving or making allowances for him, you are following the road signs and making space for them to move over.
    If you was defensive driving you wouldn’t have been driving alongside him or being close to the rear left side of the vehicle knowing that they were unable to keep in the lane and also eating an orange. You would’ve been keeping a suitable gap between your vehicle and his so if he did drift out of the lane again you wouldn’t need to take immediate action to avoid a collision as that avoiding action would’ve already been taken

    While that learner at 10:30 was indeed slow, as a learner driver I can see first hand how impatient people are with learners...they see the "L" sign on the car and they immediately think that you are slow even if you are not, and they feel the urge to come up your ass...I always go with the maximum speed limit where it's possible, and I'm always being tailgated in the 30 zones, sometimes they even beep at me because I'm not going over the limit...but interestingly on dual carriageways sometimes I have to slow down from 70 to not to undertake people in the right lane because they are going 60 there. I don't mind them already, even my instructor told me they are just wankers :)

    In the first clip it looks like you are also in the wrong lane? The blue car moves from lane two to lane one to take the first exit and you move form lane one to lane two to go past that exit? Am I missing something or are you doing exactly the same as the blue car you are criticising?

    • @PS-fl7et
      @PS-fl7et Год назад +1

      I would assume Lane 1 on the entry to the rouldabout will be for the first and second exit. The second lane will be second exit and beyond. The road markings look severely worn there so difficult to know fully

    • @gdwnet
      @gdwnet Год назад +2

      The left lane goes left or straight on so there is no lane swapping but following the lane round. the blue car moves from the right lane to the left then takes the first exit.

    • @CraigNiel
      @CraigNiel Год назад +1

      I get that the blue car definitely did the wrong thing, that's not in question. But I disagree on lane one going left and also straight on. If that was the case it would follow around like normal but it clearly doesn't. If you're in lane one and don't change lanes the only direction you can go is to take the exit? For me it's clear that lane one only goes to the first exit and if you want to go straight on you should be in lane two. If that's not the case then the design of this roundabout is clearly wrong.

    • @gdwnet
      @gdwnet Год назад

      @@CraigNielI see the confusion, it's two lanes going in to three. The left lane means you can take lane one or lane two on the roundabout, the second lane means lane three on the roundabout only.

    • @smilerbob
      @smilerbob Год назад +1

      Many roundabouts have less entry lanes than actual lanes on the roundabout, especially spiral roundabouts at larger junctions which this appears to be.
      If there are two lanes entering and three lanes on the roundabout, it goes without saying that one of those lanes will split into two. It is usually lane 1 that will split into two upon entry unless both lanes go left in which case lane 2 will split into lanes 2 and 3 on the roundabout

      The last time I was at Heathrow, back in July, you could pay using your phone or you can open an account with the airport parking people. I'm assuming if you don't pay within a certain time you get a fine in the post..
      From Gatwick airport website:
      "Terminal drop-off charge
      A minimum £5 charge now applies to use the designated drop-off zones in both North and South Terminals.
      You must pay the terminal drop-off charge by midnight the day after you use the drop-off zones. You can receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) if you're late or do not pay."
      Charges:
      £5 for 10 minutes
      £1 for each additional minute up to 20 minutes
      Maximum charge of £25 and the maximum length of stay 30 mins.
      😮😮😮😮Hope this helps👍👍
