My acquaintance with Lovebites began in late 2017 (maybe early 2018, they had two music videos at that time) with the Shadowmaker music video. And first of all, I noticed not to the technical skill of the musicians (I watch and listen to progressive and jazz-rock, and there are very good musicians there - a common thing). I was impressed by the vocalist, and not only her outstanding vocal abilities, but also her manner, absolute self-confidence in what she does and how she does it. It becomes even more amazing when you get to know her story. Asami went from being an unknown singer in small clubs and a backup vocalist to maybe the most charismatic front lady, maybe the best in the history of the heavy metal genre band. And it happened almost instantly. The story of Lovebites is probably one of the most amazing stories and it's all happening right now.
Thanks for the insight! She flat out amazes me. With the power in her voice I sometimes think she could sing without a mic and everyone would hear her over the band. lol

I love Asamis performance and her many skills she is a top tier front person for a top tier band. These ladies are a gift from heaven. Each one of them are mind blowing brilliant.
first song i heard from LOVEBITES in 2017 was their first mv - 'don't bite the dust'. and i thought to myself - good song , good singer. then towards the end she let out this glorious scream high note and i knew i was in love. some reactors still don't appreciate her voice but only a few. you on the other hand ....... nuff said
Doc, thanks. There is so much that could be said about Asami's voice that I wish I were smarter about vocals to give it proper respect. Maybe we could talk that one reactor wo is a voice coach into listening to her if she hasn't already!
Even with all their other songs & their new ones, this video is still my favorite from these women. The power of asami's voice and those rolling bass & drums under all those solos. Just brilliant. So glad you like this one too.

Great reaction, and always do what you think is best for your channel. Quality always trumps quantity every time. Glad you got to do this LIVE version and the crowd interaction here was unreal, with Asami roaming all over the stage with one of Haruna's drumsticks while M&M battled it out. Asami's powerful and broad mezzo-soprano range is one of the first things that attracted me to this band. She provides the perfect, soaring melodic contrast to Lovebites' extremely fast and heavy riffs/licks.
It's interesting that her voice is what attracted you to them as that took me a hot minute to figure out. lol Now, I can't imagine anybody else fitting this band as well as she does. Thanks for the encouragement!
So glad to hear that Lovebites will remain a mainstay as they are one of my absolute favorites as well, and honestly I haven't listened to much else for the last year and a half!! Agree with oldguymetal that spreading out the bands you listen to a bit will allow your mainstays' catalogs to last a little longer, but in the end....you do you!!

I also loved many bands but one day in August 2021 I accidentally listened to LOVEBITES for the first time , and all the bands I loved went into the background , no one is like LOVEBIES , for me the best band in the world !

Once in a lifetime is right. There has never been a band that has all the attributes this one does. They are the pinnacle of rock music, and they are as close to absolute perfection as is humanly possible. No band you introduce will match up. None.

Somebody say: "I don't like Asami's voice". I know that everyone has each own taste. But regardless of taste, I don’t understand how anyone could not like her voice. Her voice is amazing, beautiful, deep.

But I want to suggest you another Japanese heavy metal band called Unlucky Morpheus. They are similar to Lovebites in some aspects. If you want you can start with their LIVE video "Black Pentagram" from their official RUclips channel.
Each one was having so much fun it was borderline illegal. The audience feeds on that and doubles it right back.

I agree with your approach as you've described it. One of my favorite reactors/reviewers spent a year doing regular reviews of Nightwish until he had done probably 50 of them. It was both fun for old fans and hugely educational for new fans.

Another great reaction. The solos in the Live Studio are a _Little_ cleaner, and the feeling in the Studio is fun. But the Stage Presence and Energy they exude Live in front of a crowd is palpable.

Nobody hates Bloodstock, we are just spoiled childs, because the live albums are of such exquisite quality!
@@rainerzufall42 lol i agree but i have seen some real mean comments when reactors actually dare to do the Bloodstock shows just noticed i said Bloodfest above damn spellcheck lol personally i like that show stuff goes wrong at shows all the time it is how the band deals with the issues that counts
@@ericdarlington2332 I wasn't "into" LOVEBITES at that time (close call!), but as I understand it, they had to move stages in order to replace the main stage act, who couldn't come on time. That means, when they traveled, they didn't know, where they play, and the soundcheck may have been improvised or non-existent. Under this circumstances, the sound quality is okay! (And they rocked for sure, they got a lot of fans there!)
@@rainerzufall42 yes they were moved happens often in fests like that the sound crew still could have done a better job after all that was the only job they had the other fail was Miyako had misplaced her white shoes and had to be the only one who had black boots on lol not that any one but her cared about that

Honesty time: when I first heard Shadowmaker in '17, I couldn't get past Asami's voice. I was into Band-Maid at the time. But I simply had to get out of my own way to see how wrong I was. I like Saiki, but she doesn't move me like Asami and her girls. Now I rarely listen to Band-Maid, although I recognise their talent.
I get it. But I try to look at Bandmaid as a different Rock animal. Bandmaid is a very talented band with unique and interesting songwriting and arranging capabilities. And - they are a total package. Thanks for the comment!

Agree with the "take your time" point though. But I think, he's not rushing, he's enjoying the journey. He has even revisited some songs in a different version right now!
