Also and confused about leather coasters. Isn't part of the purpose of a coaster to absorb moisture? So how do you allow a leather coaster to absorb some moisture without getting damaged

I'm a newbie so when you said rusted saddle skirt does that mean it's chrome tanned? Or is it a pretend veg tan leather?

Where do you get your clicker dies?

I went to a gasket die cutter. You can get metal dies made that last you a long time, but I find them on the more expensive side. Just search for a "gasket steel rule die" company and something should pop-up near you. Hope this helps!

    costers?.
It would be helpful to know what to use to seal the leather permanently to protect it and the table top.

Here I'm using some heavy weight leather, somewhere between 8-12oz thick. Leather is porous, so unfortunately over time this will start to take on some shape and pucker around the edges and not be as protective to the surface underneath. My hope is that using some thicker leather and some Dr. Marten's Wonder Balsam that it will help prevent that for as long as possible. You could potentially dip the coasters in wax to protect even further, however I haven't tried that yet. If you want to permanently protect the table top, maybe leather isn't the best option.
