Mikey, I started watching your vids about a year ago because I became obsessed with soup dumplings. Fortunately I work in Flushing and go to the city pretty often. I've tried many places based on your recommendations.........and I have to say that you're spot on. Thanks for the work you put into all your channels, you are very enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
Mikey, Oscar’s is so expensive! Next time you’re in SD and want Mexican here are my suggestions: Tex Mex - Maritza’s! (My mom’s absolute favorite. She just has to say hello and they know what to bring out) Popular spots - La Cuatra Milpas - Lolita’s - Lucha Libre - Tacos el Gordo (is a bit too popular if you ask me but definitely good) Fish tacos - Kiko’s (there are two and they’re differently owned) - Mariscos Pescador - TJ Oyster Bar - basically any fish taco truck is solid and also affordable for even college students Meat - La Fachada (overall really good) - Las Michoacanas (carnitas is best) - tacos el Poblano (carne asada, but a bit of a drive for you) - Aqui es Texcoco (lamb, but long drive. Andrew Zimmern ate here!) - Tortas Ahogadas - Tacos el Panson (cabeza) - Tacos Revolucion (overall solid, chicken is surprisingly good) -Don Vicente (menudo and pozole!!! My favorite :) I have other places in mind, but this is already probably too much
maybe you can go back to writting comics! How about "the adventures of mike the everything eater." Plot: follow mike chen as he travels the world taking on sentient food monsters and fights them by pouring hot oil on them and taking them apart with chopsticks and other utensils and eating them!
It's gotta be Bluewater Seafood Market & Grille, which is just a skip away from SD Intl Airport! It's a tiny place but there's a line out the door even before the door opens each morning. There are all different types of fish tacos there and they are fantastic, but the softshell crab tacos are to die for! Next time!
I've been livingin San Diego for over 15 years on and off. My first fish taco experience was Southbeach Bar and grill in Ocean Beach on Newport Avenue. I was obsessed with those tacos for a long time. I havent been there in a long time now and I wonder if they are as good as they used to be. It's encouraging to see how fish tacos were part of the beginning of your now impressive culinary journey. I still need my fish taco fix once in a while and It's been a long time since I went to Oscars!
Ah, well. We don't have a lot of fast food restaurants here in The Netherlands. It's always Mc Donalds or Burger King and when you want a pizza you go to Domino's. So i'm happy to see something different...
Oh, thanks man! I just hate that people are downloading my video's from RUclips. I bought them and coverted them to the right video format... Now people are getting them for free...
Yeah, I guess the problem is that in North America, we never got a DVD release of the show and the channel that aired the show doesn't exist anymore, so you're holding on to a piece of television history :). But once again, thanks for uploading them.
FINS in Rancho Bernardo/Carmel Mountain Ranch (San Diego) was the first ever fish taco experience for me way back in 1988. I wonder if they're still around. Love your channels. Safe travels.
I lived in San Diego in late 70's and I still remember and dream of a fish sandwich we would go eat. It was out on Point Loma in the harbor. A seafood shack. They had everything fresh out of ocean there and they even would cook up some stuff. Long lines. But they would fry up a fish fillet and put it on the best sourdough bread you ever had. And their tartar sauce was so different. Oh man what I would give to have another. Best Tacos in San Diego were always down in Chula Vista or National City. Rolled tac's with guacamole. Oh Man
Mikey, could you do a video talking about your career in the comic book industry if you haven't already? If there is already one can you point me to it please, I'm really interested in hearing some of your stories- I've been watching Beyond Science for over a year and only realised you had other channels recently so I apologise if I am behind the times! Love the content, keep it up dude. (Even if you do make me starving hungry and paranoid about being abducted by aliens all the time)
Fish tacos are one of my all time favorite foods. I remember my first one back in the 80's. I was in Baja California with friends. We went to a street cart that was selling them for like 50 cents US. I ate four of them and never looked back. I know what you mean Mikey. The memory of them will haunt you. Good luck in your endeavors. I really like your style. Cheers.
Omg yes! You saved the best for last, I was hoping you went to my favorite taco place! Btw love all your videos.. I didn't know you had a second channel other than your dumpling channel. Gotta subscribe now!
Yes, San Diego! I recommend going to a little place called Mexico Viejo next time you come to San Diego. It's in the Carlsbad area, but it's worth it as it has really good burritos.. like, really good.
FISH TACOS!!! Looks like you are walking through the Gaslamp Quarter... Late 80s to the early 90s, I lived in Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and went to La Jolla for years. In fact, I almost drowned in that cove, @8:28 right on that rock in the middle of your cove shot. Snorkeling, high tide coming in, lifeguard station right there, long story. Ahh, memories. I will NEVER live in Cali again, but I would visit.
I recommend the carne asada taco at La Mesita in La Mesa and the fish tacos from El Pollo Grill in Lemon Grove. There, the fish tacos are grilled and so good.
Mikey - not sure if someone already commented on this, but the fish taco place you were looking for is most definitely Oscar's at 703 Turquoise. Keep up the awesome vids!
Jeremy Davalos never been there, always go to Tacos Mexico on Charleston and Maryland.(though not in a few months).I know there are two Tacos El Gordo, I heard the lines are huge.
I flew up to Vegas for dinner last month and the lines next to the Wynn weren't bad.... the painting was a €!+(# though. You know it's good food when you fly in just for the tacos for dinner! ;)
You can do a comic series of all your adventures and experience when you're very very old. It'd be sensational. Till then Keep up the awesome work you do.
Hey Mikey! :) Just discovered your channels and am loving them already XD Been watching vids from across your channels for the past hour hahaha thanks for making such interesting videos! Not sure if you've done it already but have you considered doing a Draw My Life video? Or like an introduction video to tell people more about yourself? :) Cos I'm sure your viewers must be curious (I know I am!!) ^^ Or maybe a QnA video or sth... thanks again Mikey! :)
Come to Toronto! You can try foods from China Town, Little Italy, Kensington Market, etc. And you are welcome to stay with me and my hubby and 2 little ones for free! We have a guest room and are not crazy. We love your videos! Thanks for the great content.
those were some good solid places for tacos, I was actually really impressed with TACO STAND!! Everything there was pretty much a 10!! Karinas also has some amazing tacos, Tacos El Paisa in logan also and a few other spots
Next time at tacos el Gordo you need to try the Cabeza (fatty, tender, juicy) or the lengua tacos or mulas version (it has the grilled cheese). You can also ask them to throw in grilled peppers and green onions on the side for free. They also have a shop in Vegas past the Wynn Hotel.
Awww man! You were in San Diego?! Wished I knew! How did I miss this video? I love taco stand and tacos el gordo. Try south beach bar and grill in ocean beach, next time you're here! They have delicious beer battered fish tacos! (And my kitchen of course lol jk!)
JUST CAME ACROSS THIS VIDEO ON THE RUclips NEWSFEED RIGHT NOW MR.CHEN!GOOD VIDEO REGARDLESS TAKE CARE!WITH RESPECT OG MR.MOLINA SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA 619!👍👊💪🍺
If you want some good fish, come to Newfoundland, Canada! That's where I live. We're famous for our Fish & Chips. Newfoundland was built around the fishing industry.
I used to go to a place in Chino , CA that had outrageous fish tacos. OMG. There is. a place in Redondo Beach , something like Baja California fish tacos or something.
YOU SHOULD VISIT NEW ORLEANS!! foods great!! lots of crawfish and shrimp and spicy food. I live about an hour and a half away in Mississippi. so, i go quite often just mainly to eat.
Yeah man. As a guy that travels a lot it's enjoyable. Loads of indie games that are easy to pick up and play whenever and the new Zelda is potentially the best game of all time. It might be a bit early to buy as it needs time to build it's list of games but you should consider it.
I know you live in the east coast now , but the best fish taco in San Diego is called Mitches close to the airport by Point Loma... I hope one day you’ll come back and check on it

Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley that would be cool
He is a picky eater. Which makes sense. Gotta be careful what you eat nowadays anyway.
I'd love to hear more about your time in the comic industry! I think that's fascinating!
hi Mickey, 😍love the video as always, keep them coming .

Wouter Veraart Taco Bell is great when you're drunk. But there is always regret. At least at my age.
Ah, well. We don't have a lot of fast food restaurants here in The Netherlands. It's always Mc Donalds or Burger King and when you want a pizza you go to Domino's. So i'm happy to see something different...

Yummy, so hungry now.
You've done some much in your life and look so young!
Those aren't seals... those are stellar sea lions. Seals are much smaller, have round heads and big round eyes, and are silent. And you cannot go diving with sea lions - that's a violation of the Marine Mammal Act. You can go diving and let them approach you (which they definitely will). I had one come up on my back 80ft down on a rock wall off Carmel and scared the bejeezus out of me. I didn't know whether it wanted to fight or fuck. After about a minute of being eye to eye with it, I took my spare regulator and gave the dog a short shot of bubbles. It sneezed back at me and took off up topside for a breath. My dive partner was laughing so hard she almost spit out her primary. This was around 1997. Good times.
Now i want tacos!!! lol my favorite part of the video was the seals! stinky and cute.
Dude... next time you are heading to San Diego, let me know and we'll cruise around for tacos or burritos. Did you try the beef tongue or tripe at El gordo?
