Absolutely love this! ❤ just discovered it via the freak zone. My best friend in the whole wide world lived in Runcorn as a kid and had one of those amazing houses with big round windows ⭕⏺️⭕

This kind of thing isn't normally my mug of Lapsang Souchong so it's probably all too familiar to many chin stroking hepcats out there, but I chanced upon WRNTDP by chance. I spent the first 20 years of my life in the NW, born in Liverpool. I remember Runcorn New Town being built, I remember the Transporter Bridge that preceded the arched bridge of 1964 that features in the start of this clip, and there's something very keenly felt that's evocative, elegiac and really quite appropriately sad about this music. Post war new towns were faulted utopian dreams that became dystopian purgatories before the first inhabitants realised it had happened. The power of music to conjure memory, feelings & a sense of time & place.

As a BoC fan of 20+ years, I absolutely love your work. I'm buying everything that you put out on vinyl. I love that you have a style all your own while keeping the synth aesthetic of the 1970s. Instant heavy rotation for my ears. Stellar work!

Not gonna lie, this only caught my attention because my hometown is Warrington. But this track has convinced me to order the LP. Also, I went to Runcorn shopping city for the first time last year. Oh my god that place is bleak.

Downloaded the album from Bandcamp. Excellent it is too. Great footage of Runcorn which pre-dates March 1979, as there's a 'Widnes Corporation' bus which became Halton Transport after April 1974. The Austin/Morris 1100 and the thigh length miniskirts in the clips look more like 1967. Can't believe how clean and litter free the north west is. I often went to Runcorn Shopping City in the 70s with parents & grand parents and remember sitting in the square in the footage, so the images resonate with me as much as the resonance on your synth does. Super stuff. Many thanks.

This video has totally weirded me out - it brings back so many memories of what Runcorn was like was a very small child. It was all a bit weird looking back! Cannot wait to get my hands on the vinyl.

I remember this place so vividly,,,,I was probably around the age of 3. Earls way I think it was. South Gate. I still think about even to this day hence why I’m looking. I moved back to Runcorn a few years ago to a place called the Decks, didn’t stay there long. Thank god. I feel so bad for those stuck in them. Anyway Great vid and cool music. Thanks.

The opening statement sounds remarkably like the 15-minute city idea which is so hated by the conspiracists and the far right these days. Sensible, moderate, vaguely socialist, for the people not the corporations. Sadly, once Thatcher got in, all that was ditched in favour of roads, roads and (surprise coming) more roads, along with the ending of social housing for all and the privatisation of public transport.
