I was lucky to order on day 1 and got it 16 months later on 16th of December 2021 right before Christmas. It gave me the same feeling like back in the days when I got my first DMG 🙂
Gameboy was the first console I owned (I know portable). 9 years old doing chores and odd jobs for my grandma and selling magazines for school. Saved up enough and got that in the big box with tetris. Uncle gave me mario land. I think my mom got me motorcross maniacs. I still got these games today. I bought the pocket on ebay last year and I love it. The screen is beautiful. I will always love portable gaming and as successful as the Switch is I still prefer Gameboy and the DS for travels due to the size and the faster loading to get right into a game. But hey I'm old now and it gives me nostalgia. Some classics or fun games were Batman, Solar Striker, Cosmotank.
If you wanna use original hardware, get an analogue pocket. If you don’t mind the dreaded e word, just get an RG35XX. Flash it with garlic os and you’ve got the ultimate Gameboy handheld
Had mine about a week and I’m very impressed with it. But I’m seeing a lot of pros and cons between the stock OS and Garlic OS. Still testing things, but overall, the device is amazing how far gaming has gone to have all my childhood favorites in the palm of my hand with a cool classic Game Boy design.
The analogue pocket has a square display, the rg35xx dosnt. The upcoming Powkiddy RGB30 has a square display perfect for game boy and all retro systems that were designed for old CRT TVs. It looks cool too like a NeoGeo pocket.
Every time I see a video over the last few years talking about how wonderful this device is , I go to look to get one and they are not for sale, or on endless pre order or they have them on eBay for 3 times the retail price. No thanks, instead I purchased the RG405M and am very happy with this device. Someone do a video once this device is on Amazon with two day shipping.
It seems like yesterday that I got my first Gameboy that I believe came with Tetris. I was a relatively late adopter. I bought it to play Pokemon Yellow which it may have also came with. Can't remember. Seems like yesterday. The good old days. Man, I'm getting old. 👴
I have the Pocket and Miyoo Mini plus. The Pocket is like a tube amplifier that you keep at home and the Miyoo like a solid state amp that you take on the road. Both are great machines.
Funny-a friend of mind actually showed me the Analogue Pocket a few days ago. I had never heard of it before then, and now I see Lady Decade has made a video about it three days later.
I ordered one of these back in June on Father’s Day, a gift to myself 😅. I just received an email today that they were preparing. Hopefully that means I’ll see it sooner than much later.
You barely can get a hold of a Analogue Pocket, worldwide. Used Devices are $450+. So yeah, get yourself the RG35xx (2600mAh) with Garlic 1.4.9. There are about 50 Ports, which you don't have on the AP. FPGAs have a flash limit of 10k-100k. So they have a limited lifecycle.
I bought an OG Game Boy recently. Is it the best? Absolutely not. I had a Game Gear as a child. BUT did my cousin have one that we played together when we were kids? YES. And it triggered that priceless nostalgia. ❤
Although the GB Pocket is more nostalgic (unless you're late Gen Y or Gen Z), I wish they would have gone with an OG GBA type shell. I think it's a little bit better design. Just add the backlight and a cover you can attach to protect the screen. By the way, the reason I didn't say a GBA SP type shell is because I just don't like the look of it as much. Also, I always thought the SP looked a bit cheaper quality then the OG GBA.
Excellent background info on Analogue. I was finally able to get an Analogue Pocket and a dock and I love it! My eyes are not what they used to be and being able to play my classic GB, GBC & GBA games on the big screen was worth the price of admission to me and on top of that I get an incredible portable gaming device with an outstanding screen. I also got the Game Gear adapter and I am now enjoying Game Gear games I missed out on the first time around. Thanks again for the video and keep up the great work.
I would love to get one. I don't like how they take your money up front and then deliver your product some random undertermined time a year+ from when you order.
Call me nuts, but I would love for Analogue to make a PSP and Vita clone that supports both the physical and digital copies of all the games on those systems.
Just got mine three days ago and I love it. I need to get the cartridge adapters because as cool as the OpenFPGA cores are I feel like the Analogue treats real cartridges better natively. Running a real GameBoy cartridge vs running the rom through a core is night and day different on this machine.
That is quite a fascinating device. Playing all those games. Now is the screen wide enough for the GBA game since you know the GBA games were on a wider screen than the other handhelds?
It's a great handheld, and it has a really nice heft when you hold it as well. Only thing I'm finding finickity atm is syncing controllers to the dock. The dock seemed to register both the ps4 and switch pro controller but didn't respond to any input and it's took an update and some tinkering I managed to get the 8bitdo sn30 pro to work great once, but after turning it back on again it doesn't seem to want to sync with it. Otherwise an amazing machine, I think it's a user problem with the dock rather than the dock itself.
Analogue Pocket: with an adapter can play -GB -GBC -GBA -GG -TG16(CARDS) Also has a memory card slot for whatever the hell you want. I want one of these so baddddd🐢
Correction. FPGA does not Emulate, it Simulates the target hardware. Emulation would requires some means of intepreting and translating to the host machine. in the case of FPGA it is the host machine as its gate arrays attempt to perform the exact logical structure of the hardware its simulating. In the case of Analogue for legal reasons it had to come up with its own implementation from getting input from A to come out as output from B. Essentially creating an Clone of the hardware. So no emulation is happening. it's running those games right off the FPGA because it was designed to do so. What sets the FPGA apart from a regular processor is that its gates can be re-aligned. It's intended to test new designs not substitute enitre consoles. These little units got powerful enough and reusable enough and cheap enough to be used in a consumer level product and act as drop in replacements for the target hardware. So no. Not Emulation.
Don’t like the adapters.. the cards stick out a lot! And this doesn’t have back support like the classic gameboy.. you could easily break the card slot. For cartridges only it’s perfect!

@@thepickles8833 garlic os is so much better. The only thing I can think of that is better about the original OS is the search feature.

I got mine last week (ordered on January 1st) and it was 100% worth the wait for both real games and the cores. I can't stop playing it!

There is so much amazing hardware out there preserving gaming history
Fwiw, it will run ANYTHING from the Atari 2600 up through the Neo Geo via the MicroSD slot...
Turbo Express was my first Handheld and still got it, modded screen and everdrive
Looking forward to getting my Analogue Pocket! I ordered it last year and recently got an email that it will be shipped very soon 😁
Waiting for a wide-screen horizontal version like the Game Gear/Nomad/Neo Geo Pocket/original Game Boy Advance.
I like the clips with you in front of your game collection

Awesome video. waiting for the next one. take care. 😊
Excellent video
How about the smartphone adapter that allows you to play your Gameboy games on your phone with original cartridges?

If they develop a wide GBA-style model and there isn't a MiSTer handheld by then, I'll absolutely snap one up.
I wish I could buy one of these analog pockets
How much do one of these analog Pockets cost
My gba has IPs screen and hdmi output also an everdrive I’m very satisfied with this

I'd love it more if I could get either my 3DS to be hacked for TV output or have the Analog Pocket?! 🤔🤔😁😁
Is there any handhelds that like the games come included on them?
Meanwhile the poor man got a Revo K101 for a third of the pricem and as a GBA hardware clone they had zero problems too,
Somebody got a like and view in at 20 seconds after posting. Damn they're good 👍
Anyone else made uncomfortable by the image of four guys with atari lynx "on end"?
Yes. Yes, it is. End of discussion.
And the Mega SG is SEXY AF.

I finally received mine ordered a couples of years ago. I’m holding out for the lynx core though since that’s what I have most carts for.

nintendo really upped their game with the gameboy analog pocket

thanks for this AD time. got $$$$ for this?
All these games can be played with a control pad on you're phone with emulators and roms. Its easy to do.
You could do this all and more on a Raspberry Pi. Opps, I wasn't suppose to say that and pretend it doesn't exist.
Sega GameGear and Neo Geo Pocket don’t count unfortunately
Super hot😯
Hola bonita
