This was the best week of my life. Saw two Band-Maid shows on my birthday (They played a midnight show the night before), retired 4 days later, and went on a great trip 2 days after that.
The start of the song was a drum segue from the last song, DICE. This was an hour long, 12 song set (the whole gig is on YT) and it was pretty much non-stop. The audio is not perfect but it sure beats the visual editing by the TV channel of MISA's bass shredding at the start of the breakdown! Glad you got here eventually and I hope your situation gets settled and frees you up for more superb reactions and analyses.
Thanks for the reaction. Crazy to think that these ladies performed a full set less than 12 hrs before playing for another hour here under hot/humid 90+ degrees condition.
Jack, I am really looking forward to your analysis of the song as a whole - I’ll bet THAT will be interesting. Jack thanks for your reaction and hopefully life will allow you to have more time for reactions even if it is not as often.
Jack, thanks for the shout. I'm guessing that you started your "Hate?" journey by reacting to the Lolapalooza version, and then while you sat on your reaction footage, the official live version got requested. So, you then watched the official live and provided your deep dive tutorial around that one, having already heard the song, and as you mentioned at the start of that tutorial, you had already heard the studio version. If so, that explains why you went straight into a deep-dive analysis without a first time reaction, which puzzled me at the time, as that seemed so unconventional and out of sequence for you. I remember being like "what does he mean he already heard the studio version?". If so, now it all makes sense. And, I'll also guess that after YT yeeted your hour-long analysis of the official live version, you went back, and uploaded this original reaction vid? Am I right? So, we're seeing your sequence of events out of chronological order. Kind of cool. It's almost a deep dive into the methodology of the deep diver. 😆
Aye, more or less! The only caveat is that I really wasn't happy with the audio here (my own fault), so uploaded this as more of a bonus video. But yes, out of chronological/filmed order! I think this has happened a few times in the past with dual videos, but those were either I'd edited them in the wrong order or was experimenting to see what the algo would do. Just to add to the deep diver's deep dive- it's very rare that things come out in the exact order they are filmed in!
Hey Jack, they have another live version from their 10 year concert. I think the Lollapaloza performance is marginally better but they really set up for the 10 year show and the sound and mix are much better. And they keep the cameras on Misa and Kanami which should help you with the analysis. By the way, probably not a reaction target but here is a collaboration I think you'll enjoy (if you haven't already run across it). The guitar solo is fast, technical, and lyrical all at the same time. And the collab speaks to the nature of music now and in the future. Squared Marbles ruclips.net/video/x-k9XMcCE30/видео.html. (And the bass player is a current fave.)
The brand new single "protect you" is just out. Feverishly fast and complex anime theme with a stunning kanami solo that gets so weird and proggy that it needs a reaction of its own. Chromatic arthrithmic weirdness
Yeah, the audio quality is quite bad. More than I can stand really. Good that you said it yourself so I do not come out whining 😀 Another thing - there is a more recent version of live "Hate?" that is around 3421 times better. I would recommend that one instead if you want to redo this properly.
Thanks Jack! The official live version from their Yokohama concert does have better sound quality and camera work.
Aye, the sound issue was totally my fault- filmed this first with this new setup, always going to run in to teething problems!
@@JbfMusicGuitar I read Rabbi's comment, and now I think(?) I understand. 🤔
@@JbfMusicGuitar”teething problems” 😂😂😂. Jack you have a way with phases!!
Agree

Sounds like an absolute belter of a week! Hope you can keep up the streak 🤘
I like the subtitles. It allowed us to pick up what you were saying while music was playing
Aye, it was inaudible otherwise!

Situation settled for a few months, so should be back on it for a wee while at least!
That was an epic performance and the girls had a great time. That's probably their secret, enjoying giving it all. Thanks Jack!
A good secret to have up their sleeve! Cheers bud

Offft! Proper pros 💪
Thanks #JbfMusicandGuitar !

In a strange twist of events I uploaded the analysis first, but sadly it's been blocked
I watched the analysis but was surprised a bit later that it had been blocked.
Saiki never looked more beautiful, having a front seat at her own band, and having a ball about it!
This was from the original HULU feed but has been taken down and reuploaded so many times the audio has suffered greatly.
To be fair, the audio is way better than here, I messed up when recording

Cheers mate nice find, very prog fusion! Lovely tone in that guitar solo. Haven't heard that bassist before, really cool playing!
🤘🤘🤘
Ahhh Balzac, that meddlesome Frenchman!
WE all know how the French like to mess with the English, or in this case Scots.
🤣🤣🤣
why requested this video when there is a better quality official live version available?
It's from quite a while ago- I'm not sure if the official one was up. It's just taken a long while for me to be able to have time to do these again
"HATE" Official Live Video from Yokohama Arena is a response to this videos poor quality js 😊

Yeah, noticed that! Can hopefully crave out some time for a wee bonus video on it!
@@JbfMusicGuitar even more interesting might be a study of the evolution of her solos.
Not this ! please official live version.
Too late, lol!

It's largely my fault- the audio on the original isn't nearly this rough
