This is ironical. The white hunters killed thousands of tigers in India between 18th and 19th century and called it as 'game'. These white hunters killed even the small cubs. Steve...you need to refer books like 'Tiger hunters', 'Ways of man and beast', 'A book of tiger' etc. A colonel of East India Company killed 50 tigers on a single day in Delhi, India in 1856 and now these white NGO's ask India where all the tigers have gone. They need to introspect themselves before criticizing us for the extinction of tigers.

Human population growth is putting alot of animals on the endangered species. Nobody resolves the cause only the effect. The cause is, our current system is not working anymore, we are many and everybody needs to live as decent as possible and for that they poach rare animals so that they can live. If we change our current economic system and all can benefit I believe that poaching will stop.

I think these guys have to work out a realistic number of how many tigers they want in the wild for each subspecies... Because just saying that 100 years ago there were 100,000 tigers is not a full picture. 100 years ago there were less than 1.5 billion people on Earth. Today we are 7 billion. So what would be a good target number for tigers without relocating all of Asia

There is no room left for tigers in India. The state of tiger reserves across India, Nepal and Bangladesh is appalling. Even WWF cannot alone save these parks without paying bribes to the politicians in India. The fact is in India, not many are interested in wildlife, left alone saving just one species such as the tiger or snow leopard. Also, when the Indian researchers estimate the number of tigers at 1,720, that is not entirely true.

You could offer poachers money for pictures of tigers and for tracking them and recording information about the area that is relevant to the tiger population and finance that with a kikstarter campaign and use that info to make a documentary to send to the backers.
