I actually agree with the California law. How many times in an ugly divorce has someone demanded the pet, not because they love it or sincerely want it, but because they want to hurt their spouse who does love the animal dearly? How many times does that self same pet end up abused or abandoned because it was treated as property instead of a living, feeling creature? I'm a medically retired Captain in the Air Force, and my support dog has been the best thing in the world for my mental and emotional health. Having him fly with me to the Mayo Clinic, or back home while stationed far away, is an amazing benefit. Soon, I'll get him upgraded to a service animal, but it's a process.
you may have a genuine need, it's the people that abuse the system by pretending to need a support animal just so they can take their purse-dog with them in the grocery store. I saw it all the time, we could not do anything about it, we had to accept that the Pomeranian in that Prada purse is really an emotional support animal.
As a service dog handler, I do dislike when people misrepresent ESAs as trained service dogs. It makes legitimate working dogs look more questionable, and since my partner is a pit bull, we get enough questions as it is. However, ESAs are also quite important to many people. They just aren't trained to perform specific tasks, and aren't necessarily socialized enough to be in a public place.
Hmm good on you New Hampshire! Make the further step to ending child marriage and make the age 19! At least then the teen will have (likely) completed highschool
In some ways I like the pet law here in California. It's a more than a little silly, but it's a good step away from treating pets like property. It's so hard to stop animal abuse when they're looked at as property. Being in animal rescue for a few decades now, I would like to see some harsher punishments. This law doesn't really address that, but it may begin the process of viewing these critters differently.
2:15 maybe southerners should still learn cursive? They can read letters from the Civil War, and realize why it was Actually fought, since they didn't write "States' Rights"
Being a southern. They know what the civil war was about but if you go around saying it's civil rights then you don't sound like an asshole. It's a backfire effect bullshit and it's bad for ya. I heard that crap my whole life yet no one could present or tell me what state right was being endangered other than slavery. I'm almost 30 and no ones been able to do it. Well no one who wasn't some banjo playing deliverance looking bigot. So we're not all ignorant to it, some of us can see through the bullshit.
@J. H. : The reason is the risk to endangered prey species if they escape. This is widely considered by ferret enthusiasts to be ridiculous, on the grounds that domesticated ferrets (at least) cannot survive in the wild, (certainly not like cats can, and cats are legal). Although the ban is most famous in the case of ferrets, it applies to all species in the genus _Mustela_ (the weasel genus) and a lot more besides. (See the California Code of Regulations §671 for the full list of banned animals; it is long and thorough.)
Cursive allows you to write quicker, but it also makes things harder to read a lot of the time as well. Since the vast majority of the things you write are going to be for other people, it's only appropriate you write in a script that's easy to read. I'm not a 17th century noble writing a letter to King Rudolph the Red Nosed, so fuck cursive. Print all day, every day.
@@TheKrossRoads "the vast majority of the things you write are going to be for other people" Are they? If I write for other people, I write it on a computer of some sort; I tend to use hand writing mostly for notes I write for myself. Who do you tend to write for by hand?
i'm not a fan of cursive myself, but arguing that it's redundant because it's hard to read may be the reason it's still ought to be taught in schools? i wish schools would start teaching whatever written language doctors use in their prescriptions.
@Paul B i mean everything's hard when you don't know it, you study it and practice it for a while until it isn't. like with any subject. not saying it should be a class of its own and it shouldn't cause you to fail the entire year, but you get the idea.
Only thing i disagreed with is I think children should learn cursive just in case they happen to go to a museum or have a history project of some sort they can read some of the old writings from the past themselves instead of just believing what they hear or what is told to them in books. Never forget the past
Then one should learn the Cyrillic, Hebrew, etc alphabets, and pictographs, hieroglyphs etc. Yes, one could do well to learn the many styles of typefaces
Pfeh. I learned to write in cursive in third grade. Our book reports had to be either in cursive or typed - and only a few people then had typewriters at home. And a 'home computer' was still about a decade away - it cost something like four grand and did NOT include a printer.
I was told through all of my elementary and intermediate school that in high school, all my teachers would REQUIRE me to write cursive. My first English class in high school: "Please, do NOT WRITE cursive! I want to actually be able to read your papers." Same every year.
For those actually concerned, changing service dog law will not do anything about other animals on a plane. ESA have access to Planes Trains buses and rental properties and have nothing to do with service animals. Only dog and horse can be a service animal.

Nowadays I won't touch handwritten source and tell clients to get some native speakers to transcribe them first before I will agree to translate.
@@jwoolman5 Doctors everywhere have shitty hand writing. Its practically a pre-req for all med students and Im pretty sure pharmacist have specific classes dedicated to deciphering hand writing for perscriptions.
Writing is only a part of literacy. Reading cursive is more important.
They still use Roman numerals as well take it.
I know they don't, but they are still used.
Why is it mandatory?
Oh no, WHISKERS! 😂😂😂
Listening to him is like halfway between Bernie Sanders and Gilbert Gottfried and I love it
Why Not? Gaming -- Lewis Black reminds me so much of my uncle, except Lewis is funnier. Uncle was a spontaneous ranter.
Gilbert Godfried is much more annoying and much less funny than Mr. Black.
"Won't somebody think of R Kelly" is a stunning, literally flawless joke.
That crowd obviously didn't know enough about R Kelly to know about Aaliyah, hence their reaction. But the joke was as you said stunning and literally flawless--perfection!
If you can't drink at 16 because the child is not responsible enough. WHY let them get married??????
Everybody Should how to write in cursive.
Washington pet law needs to be everywhere. Liike, why do people bring pets in grocery stores when you can clearly tell their not service animals?????
What perceived value does writing in cursive add?
Some places allow pets and do not care if they are service animals or not.
@@kdash3215 so a person can sign their name
@@Mictla155 True
Some places only service animals in grocery stores, not a regular pets, that the owner didn't want to leave alone.
Jalisa Fairley going to end up being a scribble regardless if you know cursive or not lmao
Sorry, Lewis, but a cat that feels guilt?
Never gonna happen!
If anything then the cat makes YOU feel guilty... ^^
But MY kitty loves me... I had a fever, and he used me for warmth...i mean snuggled to cheer me up 😅
@@TragoudistrosMPH 😂😭
mori1bund - yeah, a cat would just steal your food or go out to catch her own. Or just find another home. An amazing number of cats have two without either family realizing it. More food, more love. Scritch, scritch, scritch. Purr, purr, purr. Feed me!
But at least cats can help heal you faster...the frequency of their purrs actually promotes healing in humans..so they are worth something besides being so cute.
Love that he’s still a part of the show after all these years👍
Won't someone think of R Kelly
As little as possible, mon ami; as little as possible.
I can never get enough of Lewis Black.
Meanwhile cursive writing is standard practice in most other countries
Especially in Asian countries heh☻sarcasm
This is one of the best segments in any talk show 😁
Wait... American kids didn’t learn cursive? They seem to have trouble with math (somehow the person with less votes won an election) and as for geography erm, the less said the better.
What do American children learn in school??
They learn how to sit down and shut up... And to walk in a single file line.
They learn how to dodge bullets.
Kyle Richter sadly I think you might be right, it’s possibly the only thing they spend time on every year. Which raises the question, why aren’t they taught about the benefit of gun control?
This is one state making this law, not the country. Cursive was taught in my state when I was a kid in the '90s.
I learned that teachers can be assholes.
I was treated so shittily, my parents pulled me out of that asylum. I was homeschooled, and guess what? I'm still smarter than most of the kids they let limbo under the bar!
I love hearing trevor noah just low key laugh while the correspondents do their piece haha
I went to elementary school in Pennsylvania in the 90s and we were all required to learn to read and write cursive.
Same here. Waste of time and effort, as the only thing I write in cursive nowadays is my signature, and legally I can put any mark there I want anyway.
tennisdude52278 same in my state Virginia and then we never touch it again so we’ve all pretty much forgot it
Exactly and now people are acting like it's impossible to learn, wtf? I learned when I was 10 haha, not to mention I can still write cursive despite not doing so in years haha its like riding a bike
@@TheKrossRoads- Learning cursive has shown that it allows students to form stronger note taking skills. Further, studies have shown that notes taken in cursive allow for greater retention of information than typed notes. As much as we love our more advanced technology, we are still hardwired to make connections when we do something directly (such as writing).
Won't someone think of the poor hedgehogs?! 😭🦔
I’m a simple man. I see lewis black. I click.
Drinking is the only way to get through a marriage 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@RIXRADvidz I personally think more places should be animal friendly regardless of whether it's an emotional support animal or not.
I'm actually ok with the hedgehog, it's cute, tiny, and not dangerous like a ducking kangaroo!!!!!

At 3:29 you can here Trevor's muffle laugh
Lewis black made me laugh so hard. Please bring more of him trevor. Love you all
2:15 maybe southerners should still learn cursive?
5:39 Strangle that screaming baby LOL (I should feel some shame, laughing at that!
Emmy!
This needs to happen more
You're not allowed to have a weasel as a pet in California. So that takes care of that issue.

"I'VE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER !!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Americans are so weird about cursive... "Why would I want to write in hand writing when I could be writing print letters with my hand?!"
It's a dead script, which served the purpose of writing faster , it was made obsolete by the word processor.
I'm screaming with you Lew!!!!!!

Woah I haven’t seen him before

The era of cursive is over, teach the kids typing since they can use it for work.
I could watch an entire show with Lewis Black 😂😂😂
Awesome thank you
Always loved Lewis Black 😂😂😂
Only thing i disagreed with is I think children should learn cursive just in case they happen to go to a museum or have a history project of some sort they can read some of the old writings from the past themselves instead of just believing what they hear or what is told to them in books. Never forget the past
Then one should learn the Cyrillic, Hebrew, etc alphabets, and pictographs, hieroglyphs etc. Yes, one could do well to learn the many styles of typefaces
If Lewis Black can get by without an emotional support animal, the rest of us can too.
my emotional support animal is the anthropoid hominid that sells me my medical marijuana every week.
Gotta love Lewis Black!
Lewis is love. Lewis is life.
He is hilarious.. love this show!!
For those actually concerned, changing service dog law will not do anything about other animals on a plane. ESA have access to Planes Trains buses and rental properties and have nothing to do with service animals. Only dog and horse can be a service animal.
I'm so glad Noah hired Black. Just another example of his comedic genius 😂😂
So glad as well.
