I saw a running driving rebuilt title with issues 05 s55 amg for 3k on copart recently. I bought a single owner 1989 ford thunderbird for 175$ once >.>
Bought Toyota echo back in the days from auction for $1000 with 75k miles. Another 1000 in body work, 15 years later sold it with 195k miles for $600 rusted really bad. Dealer took bus 5 hours away and bought from me.
Alex to the rescue! With parts off your car to fix it. What a good person you are to do this! They got a pretty good deal on it too. Thank you for putting out this feel-good content 🙂
You’re like literally the ideal friend a person could have. Honda dies on the side of the freeway because of a timing belt issue. For the rest of us, it’s like the end of the most morbid day ever. For you, you’d stop by in your beamer with spare pistons, valves, camshafts and phasers, reamer, tap and die set, gaskets, coolant, oil, hydraulic lift, etc and an extra engine block you know just in case. You look at it as a fun and enjoyable adventure lol
When they replace the tandem pump, they have to keep fluid in both reservoirs and loop the return hose that went to the ABC back to the reservoir. Both sides of the pump, steering and suspension need lubrication from the pentofluid since they are on the same shaft but separate pump chambers. Also unplug the electrical connector on the pump itself to keep the suspension side from high pressure mode.
The battery isn’t used for the running of the car. The power provided by an alternator is what is used to run the main consumers in a car. Hence why you can jump a car and it will keep running with a good alternator, but if the alternator dies, it doesn’t matter how good the battery is. A typical alternator will charge at 14 volts + for this exact reason. To keep the battery charged and to run the consumers.
If the spark plugs were changed recently, there is a tiny hose coming off the corner of the passenger side intercooler that leads to a MAP sensor (I believe). Lost boost after I changed mine and came back after I stuck the hose back on!!
Any more V12 content between you and Shehryar and I'll start to believe that those power plants are not only silky smooth (which they are) but also easy to work on.👍😂
Hi, from my experience owning MB the BAS ASP fault ussualy is due to a low batery, but if you change the battery and still doing it, coud be the brake sensor located under the pedal. Its a very simple fix and check. I hope you can fix it.
Wow! I just thought how are these RUclipsrs with that V12 doing.. I saw them restore it and as I scrolled down in RUclips recommendations I see this video with them in it 😄👍
Not pointless. BTW this was 1980s, so pre cell phone, I once was stranded on a beach in Middle of nowhere in Mexico, because we jammed until the battery was dead in my truck. Made even dumber by the lack of jumper cables. We saw one other car all day and the guy allowed me to remove his battery hook up too and start my truck and then reinstall his battery and then reinstall my dead battery while my truck was running. Been carrying jumpers ever since, can’t believe I carried tools and no jumpers deep into Mexico. Love the channel, you inspire me to start working on my cars and motors again
Nice to see this rescue in the Mall of Wisconsin, specially because I have been there in 2013. Someday I will travel again from Brazil to visit you in Chicago. Cheers!
First time brake assist kicked in for me was in my first car 05 TL. Driving with my dad late at night and a Taxi pulled out. I remember thinking the car braked itself, somehow it could see and avoided the accident. Awesome tech! Now my 15 TLX literally can see and brake for me :D
Hey I am from India. I have been watching your videos for the last few months. With your videos it become easy to maintain luxury cars specially the Mercedes Benz.
Not only a broken belt, also broken belt tensioner ans pulley, also broken ABS causing low power issue. Also powersteering problem. And some body rust. I think that $3K is about the right kinda money for that car.
I couldn't bear to abandon my 1997 LS400 when the transmission went, I opted to limp that bad boy back to my cul-de-sac and it was in way worse shape than this S600. Got the transmission fixed the next week.
Anyone who has had to live with one of these for any length of time dreams of abandoning them. I would sell my S600 cheap too, but I don't want to do that to some poor soul.
I've lost count at how many, "feel good" videos of yours have left me in tears of gratitude, awe and respect for your wonderful attitude toward life! Blessings galore to you and yours, Alex!
Makes me miss mine soo much. It had absolutely No issues. Had All power 72,000 miles on the odo. I paid 5k. Perfect exterior and interior. Had it for 2 months. It was flooded out by a horrible ⛈ 😰😭 I miss that car soo much. It was perfect!
Adding a sway bar is easy. You change out the lower control arms for Airmatic arms and get a sway bar from an Airmatic car. The sway bar bolts to the V12 subframe after removing some no longer needed ABC lines and hoses.
It's the abs / esp module. It controls a solenoid on the power steering below 30km/h to increase power steering. Check and clean the connector that plugs into it.
Dude! I know I keep saying this, but your videos have gotten so good. I love how there's no boring time when making repairs. I wish you could help me with this shimmy in my steering wheel. Nobody can figure it out.
I had same issue with ABS\ESP lights on my W169. Car was constantly switching off power steering and speed was limited to 50km/h. Appeared that brake light switch was broken (mounted above brake pedal) that's why car goes to limp-home mode.
*I aooreciate that you went out of your way to help them out but i haven't been able to watch JR garage since i learned of them faking their videos by using rental cars. that whole fake it till you make it business model is a complete slap in the face to all you automotive you tubers that did things the right way, paid your dues and earned your audience the legitimate way still*
A couple years ago I bought a 2002 S430 with exactly the same problem for $500. I think it had 140kish on it. Needed tires and the ac didn't work. It also had rust and some kind exhaust leak. It had the shock swap and it drove beautifully. A car for a king. I had thoughts of keeping it but logic and reason told me other wise. Sold it and made a K. One thing to note: the hidden cassette player!!!
Sitting here in the Philippines missing our 500 SL. Could not afford the taxes to bring it into tge country. We would put the top down and enjoy the Texas weather. Thanks for this video and you being there for them.
Sounds like he doesn't know. I'm sure he could figure it out though! You add a sway bar and lower control arms from an Airmatic car, and do a low pressure recirculating fluid loop on the ABC side of the tandem pump to keep it happy.
All non-electric/hybrid vehicles run off the alternator when started - don't turn on all the accessories, but the alternator supplies more voltage than the battery does, otherwise it could not charge said battery. One common mistake people make is if their lights dim when their stereo bumps, they try to put in a capacitor in line with the stereo- which does fix the lights, but it starves the amp of power, potentially damaging the amp. If your lights dim when you use power in a running car, and you know your battery is good, either your alternator is dying and needs replacement, or isn't providing enough amperage and needs an upgrade :D
13:25 It is a practical use for removing the battery while the engine is running. One time I needed start two cars with one good battery (without jumper cables) and I removed good battery from running car to start second car.
The cheapest car you've bought?
Mercedes C180 from 1994 for 150€. I live in Germany.
Nothing at all to brag about but I bought an very old saab v4 for a beer :) and I sold it for 2 beers ;)

Thank you so much once again for the help! Another V12 Merc rescued. Can’t wait to finish getting it sorted and all cleaned up 🙌
I had a blast!
I've been wondering what ever happened to the s600
Hopefully the dimwit brothers don't crash into anyone else with this car.
Expose Jr garage
I believe that now that you have steel springs, an ML55 power steering pump will work perfectly.
Fixing a S class in a parking lot, now that is unreal. Great job Alex.
Most workshop wont fix it in theires workshops
There is no greater joy than being able to help people and show em how simple it really can be. rock and roll
Alex Legit rescued a street car. Good job bro.
Alex to the rescue!
With parts off your car to fix it.
What a good person you are to do this!
They got a pretty good deal on it too.
Thank you for putting out this feel-good content 🙂
Alex comes across as nice honest chap. He has a very likeable manner. Good luck to him. Drive safely. From Thailand
Wow! Even the optional Toyota floor mats! Luxury!!!

I swear I get happy when I get off work & see a new upload by you. By far my favorite automotive RUclips channel and has been since the beginning
Thanks Joe. Means a lot
@@LegitStreetCars anytime Alex. Wish you all the best my good sir.
This is why he has one of the best automotive channels on RUclips.
3 of the greatest automotive RUclipsrs on a parking lot in the middle of no where a bit of adventure and suspense... Great concept!
Not the V12 content I was expecting but this will do for now. Can’t wait to see the CL65!
“Oh wait so that was supposed to be on the...” yeah you can tell these guys don’t do any of their own work 😆😉
Now that’s Legit! Who else can do a parking lot repair and have instant results?! This is awesome!!
This warms my heart. AMG lives matter.
When they replace the tandem pump, they have to keep fluid in both reservoirs and loop the return hose that went to the ABC back to the reservoir. Both sides of the pump, steering and suspension need lubrication from the pentofluid since they are on the same shaft but separate pump chambers.

You're the man, Alex. I wish this video was longer. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Those Toyota floor mats are the only part on the car that will never fail.
No problem for Alex he knows what he do. Nice of you Alex.
Alex you have empathy for people. You are a star x 100 💥
Alex, that's very kind of you to help those kids, hope they gave you a nice tip!
You are giving me cool big bro vibes to this other channel. You're the best to help them!
Sweet it's a Legit Thursday!!!!
Running a car with no battery is proof that you have a good alternator!
Now, an engine running with no battery and no alternator, that’s something to see!
(That’s a mechanically injected Diesel engine party trick)
@@300DBenz ahaha, run away diesel! Ive seen a couple. We had a Peugeot 308 come in to our garage continue running on its own 😂
Alex is such a nice guy. That was great to see.
Made many repairs in parking lots on auction cars. Most always have driven on home. Good work guys! Long trip ahead for JR Garage afterwards!
If the spark plugs were changed recently, there is a tiny hose coming off the corner of the passenger side intercooler that leads to a MAP sensor (I believe). Lost boost after I changed mine and came back after I stuck the hose back on!!
I concur, a lot of stuff on my Benz can generally be traced to a vacuum problem of some kind or another most of the time
@@benzlover55 biodegradable rubbers and hoses it was a thing for late 90”a 00”s bmw and Mercedes
Yeap, 99% the vacuum hose its disconnected

The fact that it was running and you couldn't even tell shows me how smooth and quiet the engine is. If any of my cars are running, you know.
Only channel I can watch start to finish.
When you do a conversion from ABC to normal coilovers. You have to change the tandem pump to a normal power steering pump.
No, you don't. You can do a low pressure loop and allow the ABC side of the pump to just recirculate through the pump and reservoir tank.
There is no direct fit non ABC pump for a V12tt
really enjoy watching an expert at work!
Name change to Saint Alex patron saint of the car park Great moment of random kindness.
Random video or not, always good to see you Alex
