Nice video!! I'm about to make it but my eyes are having trouble reading the writing on the pattern instructions so I'm really happy to find a sew-a-long for it. I know this is an old video, but in case any newbies are wondering, just a quick mention about the ribbons - you are supposed to baste them in first and then the reason for securing them with safety pins in addition to this is to prevent them getting caught up in other seams and to keep you safe. You are working with a reversible dress so if you had straight pins in there you would risk getting poked all the time by them when you're sewing and especially when turning large areas through small openings. You safety pin the ribbon well away from the seams so your needle can't hit it. I hope that makes sense? I hope my dress comes out as lovely as yours :)
Hi, Melissa. It looks like you hang your pattern directions on the wall. If so, I do the same thing. I'm notorious for not always reading the directions before I start to sew. I usually just jump right in. The finished dress is so pretty, and it looks like someone is really happy wearing it. Fantastic job. I love it.
Thanks for the video! The instructions confused me. I'm going to do a basting stitch on the ribbons instead of pinning. And pinking shears will be faster on trimming excess around Seams
@@SewlocaMelissa i had been sewing a year and finally bought some. I love them & use them often. I usually do pdf patterns but thought I'd give paper ones a try. Of course i pick a confusing one so i was glad to find your video!

denise h I agree I ordered a pair of pinking sheers because for some reason I thought I didn’t “need” them but I can’t stop using them now lol 😂
