    I believe the change to Transponder 4 meant on the ASTRA satellite at 19.2 degrees east. Eurosport started broadcasting 18 hours a day.

    I seem to remember Eurosport on the ASTRA satellite at 19.2 degress east broadcasting for 18 hours a day from 1st June 1989. Can anyone confirm this?

    Gonzie gonzberg,the announcer vis Bruce Hammill,who still does promos for SKY SPORTS UK and co-scripts the sports programme TRANS WORLD SPORT with former ITN UK news caster Sue Carpenter! GOD BLESS!

    what is the name of the announcer? he had such a ''thrilling voice''. much of the old eurosport I remember thanks to him

    Eurosport Started In 1988 On Sky Europe Until They Goot There Own Channel They Was The Number 1 Sports Channel In 1989

      I'm afraid not, Eurosport started oficially on 5th February 1989

      @@solojinglesradio1 Yes, but apparently for some time afterwards they broadcast some of Sky Channel's pan-Euro targeted programming under the branding of "Sky Europe" before Eurosport started. This was due to Sky Channel/Sky One reorienting itself towards the UK only, and Eurosport subsequently replacing it on European cable systems.

      @@TimothyMischka thanks for this important correction, so it was a kind of program before it was officially a channel, guess I said the date of paneuropean instead of english version because it was 2 versions and later they merged with screen sport in 1993 right?

      @@solojinglesradio1 They did merge with Screensport by 93, British Eurosport I think launched later in the 90s

    I believe a testcard (of some kind), because the Quantum Channel didn't exist in 1989. Too bad I don't have a provement of it, because this recording started a minute to five (six here in Holland).

      noedolekcin2, Eurosport broadcasting hours were restricted at first and there were no shopping channels throughout the night.
