Wow! That was very impressive! Cooking the pork chops on a rock. First time i see any cooking on a rock in my life. I laughed so hard when he said he has been wanting to do this for 40 years! The walls around that water falls are beautiful. I love you guys for these gorgeous videos and for giving your dog the best life a pooch could possibly want.👌🐕💚
Thank you! Roodles birthday is coming up soon so Carrie made a video just of Roodle having fun and enjoying life on the road 😀 He is going to be 6 years old on the 13th. 🐕🎾🎾🎉🎁🎈
Great video as always! House sold, van build starts today!!! Just went back and watched your window install video as that's the first thing I'm starting with along with the Maxair fan. Cutting holes today! Wish me luck.
Congratulations on starting your van! Don't forget to mask off the edges so you don't scratch them up like I did. 😀 We did two ceiling fans but now I wished we would have just went with one. It's such a small space and one fan would have done the job and saved the roof space. We also should have went with a heater that can handle high altitudes. We find ourselves above the 5000 feet limit most of the time. Of course let us know if you have questions along the way. Good luck! 😀👍
If you make it down to the Cottonwood/Clarkdale area you can hike up the southern part of Sycamore canyon and see that beautiful trail with lots of water in the creek, which flows year round as there are several springs. It is a lush riparian canyon/trail.
Thank you for the information! It just so happens that we are there right now! This canyon is amazing and there are some of the best free camping sites we have seen in some time. 😎
Hello! Thank-you for stopping by to check out our latest adVANture! Sorry this video is not full screen….. we have a love/hate relationship with our GoPro and had to do a factory reset to get the sound to work!!! I’m guessing we failed to reset the screen size🤷♀️ it appears to be fixed in the next video😃 Or maybe I did that while editing🤷♀️ not realizing it. The joys of technology!!
I’m with you, Dave. I’m nearing 80 and not as steady as I once was, so I stay well back from edges. Those falls are amazing and the sound is sublime! I’d be tying off to one of those trees! I get queazy watching Carrie’s shots of the falls. 😂 Thanks for taking me along.
❤ the grill! Beautiful AZ, my home. You 3 got out of Prescott just in time as there is a huge fire 🔥. Please send prayers for them & Flagstaff Tunnel fire. Happy travels😊
Yes we are still currently in the cottonwood area and we’ve been keeping an eye on those fires 🔥 before vanlife we lived in a high fire area in California….. so we know how devastating wildfires can be! Thankfully we never lost our house but we were evacuated several times. We always joked (not funny) that California has a fifth season “Fire season” 🥲 It is not a good indication though to be having wildfires in April!! I fear it’s going to be another bad year! This makes us sad!
That fire tool is the perfect fire tender! It looks like campfire season has already come to an end this year as fires are breaking out all over the place. I am sure glad we got that one in time. 😀
I bought the rake the 1st time I saw you use it in a video... its awesome. I bet those falls were awesome... but I would not be getting too close...lol.. just how close you got gave me the hibbee jibbees from my stomach to my feet... but it looks like an amazing place! I love those trees. Carrie... I love coloring with my gel pens too... it relaxes me. but wow was I leaning back in my chair when you got so close to the edge looking for the sunrise 🤢🥴😳 Thank you for the video, & safe travels from South Dakota
I don't know how we always end up camping on the edge of a cliff...and we are doing it again tonight! 😂😂 Tonight we are right at the edge of the Mogollon Rim in Arizona at 7400 elevation. 😎
Hi, Dave and Carrie. Thank you for sharing such a great place with us. Dave your cooking on the rock and Carrie your early morning photography of the water fall took the cake. Getting out early in the morning is not always easy but ya, one always ends up feeling all the more better for it. Take care and have fun🤣😝😜
Hi! Yes, forest fires are very disturbing in more ways than one. Your latest video had something new: a black border. I see you now post in 5K! Wowee! Is there an advantage to the black border? I'm just trying to learn about these things...and you guys have so much to teach! Meanwhile, as always, your videos are so lovely and so calming for we folks to watch. Be safe!!! (and lovely waterfalls)...and stone-fired pork chops! YUMMY!
Hi Robert! We are still trying to figure out what happened with that black border. We did have a problem with our GoPro and had to do a reset on it. Not sure why but we get our share of glitches with that camera. Next week's video seems to look normal so we may never find out what all happened. 😂
As always a great video. I enjoy your curiosity and explorations. Thanks to Dave I now want to cook on a rock. Thanks for taking all of us along with you.
I am also afraid of the edge of heights. My knees turn to jello and I have never been a graceful person so my balance is not that good on rough terrain.
I was once talked into jumping off the top of a waterfall. My legs were just like that! Jello! I hardly had the strength or courage to make the jump. 😂... I would not try it again.
Incredible place. I didn't know you could cook on a rock... I just learned something and it was really interesting and very cool. I am not a fan of heights either... I would have been on my hands and knees to look over the edge for sure... Incredible scenery. Wonderful video! Safe travels you guys. 👍😁
What a beautiful place!! I just wanted to transport myself there through my computer screen. I am so ready for some spring time camping and warmer temps. The waterfalls were beautiful!! So peaceful....I have never cooked on a rock before. Looks like Dave is your guy for cooking on rocks:)
I bet you guys are ready for some warmer weather! We are doing the opposite and looking for high elevation sites to get the cooler weather. Tonight we are camped at 7400 feet on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. 😎

You two (three!) are amazing! ~ Kir and Ron
Thank you! That was fun cooking on a rock. I know a few survival skills! I may have to add some more to upcoming videos. Thank you for the motivation, this kind of content is fun! 😎
Y’all find so many great places, hope to see for myself someday. In the meantime thanks for sharing your adVantures with us. Carrie you are one brave lady, I got the ‘Heebie Jeebies’ watching you get close to the edge of those canyons! Hope your Mom is doing well 🙏🏼

I hope you got your blizzard, lets keep Dave happy. I can't wait to see my next blizzard I haven't seen one since 1971, lol. Went camping and ran into Corndog Caravan, small world. Love the Williams area. Spent a lot of time camping there. Your video showed something we missed. You guys really find some beautiful spots to camp. HAPPY TRAILS
Nice, Dan! I wonder if you camped at White Horse campground. I usually don't like campgrounds but this is a good one. It was closed but we toured it for fun. 😎
I think you guys are just the cutest couple. Hey, Dave, that was clever for the fire man. 👍🏻The area around the water was so intriguing to me. Is the water accessible? Do you guys ever notice what appear to be petrified heads of varying sizes? Love you guys.
It looked like the water was only accessible for the rock climbers. I really wanted to get that drone perspective. 😂 We did not notice the petrified heads! I wish we did. 😀
Hi guys! That’s a GREAT spot! Love the falls-that was a LOOONG way down! Do you know what makes the water so green there? Nice work on those chops, Dave! Yum!
Thank you, guys! I don't know why I like cooking on rocks or with a stick but it makes it taste better. 😂 Not sure why the water looks green, maybe there is not enough water flow to clear it out. 😀
Another delightful story. All I could think of looking at the waterfalls, was the massive amount of water that had formed the canyon. Long time ago obviously😁 . I'd be keeping well away from the edge too Dave👍
Thank you for this share I envy the rock cookin! Question. Does the waterfall flow year round? I’m thinking bout going this weekend. Or would it be dry?
I'm curious about the geology there. Those vertical columnar formations remind me of the columnar basalt I have seen, but the stone doesn't appear to be basalt. Does Dave enjoy geology like he does wild edibles?
I know you’re going to get stuck 😂. Y’all always get stuck 🤣 What a great camp spot. Williams is a cool town anyhow I do want to take the train to the GC. Love the falls and yeah it’s definitely rugged around the rocks. Very cool to see. The climbers 🧗♀️ make great scale for how deep it is. And now I want to cook on a rock 😂. I’ve never though of that but that was awesome. 👍🏼
We do get stuck often 😂😂 Part of me wants to get stuck just for the challenge of getting out. I wonder how close the train gets to the Grand Canyon...I may have to research that one. Cooking on a rock is great fun! I hope you get a chance to try it out. 😎
@@oneadVANtureatatime it pulls in to the GC and it’s a short walk to the rim but as far as how close while pulling up the hills, I don’t know. Maybe a trestle running over a part would be neat. I’m curious now so I’ll have to search RUclips myself 😂

I didn’t notice it until I had the video completely edited. Sometimes the joys of technology are not so joyful 😂😂😂
I'm not scared of heights, but as a klutz, I am terrified of tripping and falling off a cliff. And I was almost blown off the top of Bryce Canyon by high winds once. I have to skip past the clips showing views down the edges of cliffs.
Carrie and Roodle have no fear! I prefer to fly the drone around those areas 😂 Yes! I always warn Carrie about a random gust of wind. Thank you for validating my warning. We of course glad to hear you safely survived Bryce. I didn't do so well there either.
@@oneadVANtureatatime OMG, it was so scary! I am overweight, too, so I'm not a slight person! I was on the rim trail at Sunset Point, a short distance past where the guard rails end. I stopped to take a photo, and this gust came out of nowhere and pushed me to within 3' of the edge! Thankfully, I was able to plant a foot between me and the edge or I would have gone over! And no one was around so no one would have known if I had fallen down the cliff! After that, I walked back to my car, staying 30' from the edge. (Carrie makes me nervous. I feel for ya!)
+Gabriel Lombera welcome!!! We share location coordinates in our video descriptions and any other info we think you might need to know. Here is what we shared about sycamore falls: Coordinates: (35.1404544, -112.0292348) NOTE: Camping is not permitted at the Sycamore Falls trailhead parking lot. You will find free camping or boondocking nearby within a few miles in both directions. During Peak season Whitehorse Campground is beautiful and only two miles from Sycamore Canyon Waterfall. Sycamore Falls is at the start of Sycamore Canyon and is RUGGEDLY beautiful!! Please use caution if you visit this area as there are a lot of tripping hazards and steep drop offs!! We enjoyed boondocking in the nearby national forest but please keep in mind that Arizona mud is not to be messed with in this area! Not only will you get massively stuck!!! But you will run the risk if scarring the landscape that could result in the closure of this area.
ARE YOU FINDING THE "OUT OF THE WAY" DISPERSED CAMPING LOCATIONS TO BE LESS BUSY IN RECENT MONTHS?. I SUSPECT THE COST OF MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL DOESN'T PENCIL OUT FOR MANY CAMPERS. MY WIFE AND I ARE SOON TO BE FULLTIMERS AND LOOKING FORWARD TO LOCATIONS LIKE THIS ONE.
Overall we are finding fewer campers than the last couple of year. The only exception was the Sedona area near the FR525 was just as busy as ever. But we were still able to find remote camping with nearly nobody nearby. Yes, I think gas prices are helping to keep the crowds away. Congratulations on soon to be full-timers! We hope to see you on the road. 😀😀😀
Please keep your dog on a leash when visiting the national forests… it’s the law. We have been horse back riding in the same area and have had dangerous interactions with loose dogs. Loose dogs are dead dogs!
I’m sorry you had to deal with dogs while riding your horse. While it is the law to have your dog on a leash in DEVELOPED areas and most trails…. It is NOT THE LAW to have you dog on leash in most other areas of the national forest ( not to be confused with national parks) this is straight from the USDA website: In many Wilderness Areas, devleoped campgrounds, picnic areas and day use areas, dogs are required to be on a leash. Most other areas within the National Forests do not require your dog to be on a leash, but they should be under your control at all times. We recommend that you keep your dog on a leash when you are around other forest users, other dogs, or are in bear country.
I’m sorry that you think it’s OK to risk other peoples lives by letting your dogs run loose in the forest. It’s there for all of us to use, not just you. Like I said…. A loose dog is a DEAD dog. To be clear to your viewers…. This is a high traffic area with free range cattle and horses…. If your loose dog chases wildlife, cattle or horses, it will be shot and killed…. PERIOD. The locals do not play around with idiots that think the forest is a free for all their loose dogs. We are also tired of looking for your lost dogs because you couldn’t keep them leashed.
Bucket list item: cooking on a rock ✅ That was a great dispersed camping spot and the road looked good too! So quiet! Thanks for taking us along!

Hi. How you doing? Can you send the location where yo guys stay in sycamore falls az. Or can i get-it in ioverlander?
+Gabriel Lombera welcome!!! We share location coordinates in our video descriptions and any other info we think you might need to know. Here is what we shared about sycamore falls:
Coordinates: (35.1404544, -112.0292348)
NOTE: Camping is not permitted at the Sycamore Falls trailhead parking lot.
That's going to be delicious cook on the stone ENJOY SALUD.
It really was! Thank you. 👍😎
How close can you camp by the fall?
1/2 mile
@@oneadVANtureatatime thank you
ARE YOU FINDING THE "OUT OF THE WAY" DISPERSED CAMPING LOCATIONS TO BE LESS BUSY IN RECENT MONTHS?.
hammock heaven
Yes! With those trees, we had endless hammock opportunities.😎
Easy peasy with a cane on that ridge?!
Not really! 😂 I wanted to crawl up to the edge on all fours. 😎
if cali would manage their forest ( tree huggers ) fires wouldn't be as bad!
It is NOT THE LAW to have you dog on leash in most other areas of the national forest ( not to be confused with national parks) this is straight from the USDA website:
In many Wilderness Areas, devleoped campgrounds, picnic areas and day use areas, dogs are required to be on a leash.
