Nice Video Again (as always!) Marty! I don’t know how you have the patience to carry that big selfie stick on that long ride, especially on that difficult terrain, (not to mention production and editing time) Great, great stuff - well worth the wait! Really appreciate the info on how these wheels operate in actual usage. Thanks Again!
Lovely blue skies and great weather, i'm so envious right now lol! Just hoping we get a proper summer in Britain this year so I can take my V10 on a few trails. Until then looking forward to seeing more of beautiful California in your next video 😊
I have to hand it to you Martyr, your enthusiasm is infectious. One point though, you were extolling the big Z10 tyre but I did not see the other wheels struggling anymore than you.
I could have done a better job explaining at the time. What I meant, regarding the Z10 tire, is that it feels easier to navigate these kinds of trails vs doing it with other wheels. I've ridden this same trail with my MSuper, Tesla, and ACM. They all make it just fine but the experience wasn't nearly as pleasant. You can do pretty much anything with any wheel, but some wheels are better/easier than others at particular tasks. In my opinion, the Z10 excels in rough trails like this. Where it does suffer is the low pedals relative to MSX.
It's a great wheel but comes with a very high risk of no after sales support. I only recommend it to people that wouldn't be too bothered at losing ~$2k. But as a wheel, I also enjoy riding mine.
The helmet mirror is super cool. Nice ride, these kind of adventures are where you really learn about your machine and improve. They ain't easy either.
Fella's we'll be going on a nice ride today! On a trail they said. LOL 4:08 - 5:00 Ugh, those aren't rocks! They looked more like filthy mini-boulders. The title is misleading Marty, it should be listed as "Rock Climbing Challenge!" 😂😂😂 I am just being humorous Marty, I'm not critiquing 👌😉
Do you know how to factory reset the z10 or re calibrate the motors. Because my z10 will not balance and only free wheels when powered on?? Please help with any suggestions.. I have stripped it down to look for issues but nothing is wrong??
Hey Marty... Looking at getting the KS 18XL next month. On another video you tested this wheel. Does it also do the battery regenerating when traveling down hill?
I'm sorry, I don't know what can be wrong. If the battery gets below ~20% the wheel won't turn on until you've recharged the wheel. This has happened to me a couple of times.
I did, descending 4500-feet down a mountain. It's not really a question. By the very nature of how EUC's work, the all must regenerate power or they couldn't work. The excess energy must go somewhere - either into batteries or a big resistive load, which wouldn't make sense.
Tough ride, steady persistence prevailed. The electric unicycle industry ought to be giving you accolades for arranging and sharing these events, which only boost interest levels in EUCs. I find the width of the Z10 to be useful on the one hand, but a setback on the other. Over certain terrain, its thickness can help get over loose ground, but maneuvering around and through lots of obstacles is harder, not because it's necessarily more difficult to turn, but because the wheel is nearly twice as wide and is more likely to contact obstacles. Even if the Z10 is considered equally maneuverable, it undeniably has still got that extra width to bump into things.
Thanks. There is no perfect wheel, and that includes trail wheels. What you say is correct, but what I can say in reality is that this particular trail was most pleasant to navigate on the Z10 versus my MSuper, Tesla, and ACM. I chalk that up to the tire.
How would the KS 18XL do on this same mountain vs this Z 10, not inuding its additional range? Seems like the Z 10 is better for off-roading, but 18XL is better in every other way. Seems like these are all better than Ebikes when it comes to range, capability and price too. Keep up the good videos!
I haven't yet ridding the XL up this mountain. I'm sure it'll do fine, but the Z10 tire is very nice for trails like this. Yes, I think EUC's are better than any other form of personal transport. Their single biggest disadvantage is the potential for a bad accident because they are a self-balancing device with no redundancy (two wheels).
I was the only person riding a Z10 and I had no overheating issues. The Z10 will only overheat if climbing extremely steep hills - the kind of hills where you have to really lean to barely move.
Also what models does everyone have? And where is this I like to visit and join the group - you Mention other wheels what else do you have ? Why z10 or others you have are better?
If you watch the video, everyone's wheel is listed at the very beginning. I have hundreds of videos on my channel - feel free to look around to see what else I ride. I'm very active here: forum.electricunicycle.org/
@@ElectricUnicycles I see. I heard from someone that the difference will be balanced automatically while riding, but personally I haven't noticed any balancing unless charging.
@@89parspilot It absolutely will not be balanced while riding. Fortunately this situation only arises with there is a lot of regen occurring during the ride, like on a long downhill ride.
Greetings, was that the same trail you did with the Tesla and the Inmotion V10F, when the v10 was overheating, due to the firmware? Just wondered because you made it up on the Tesla that time, but your friend didnt on his Tesla on this ride.
Had a feeling.. My grandfathers sister ended up in California in the 1920-30s. Quite a few swedes emmigrated to america seeking a better life back then. ok Peace man, ride on!!
The microphone picks up the motor sounds much better than the human ear. The Z10 may have the quietest motor of any EUC being made right now. But even the loudest EUCs (like all of the KingSong models) are barely noticeable when you are riding, because of the wind noise.
It's is a very high pitch noise and I hear it on all of my Segway minis and my ZTen. I don't think Marty can hear it. The motor is very quiet but there is a high pitch sound that is very loud.
@@ElectricUnicycles I'm thinking your hearing may not pick up this noise that the Z10 makes. It's a very high pitch noise. Sounds like something electrical that is spinning. Like a gyro or something.
You can't hear it when you are riding. Have you ever used a portable drill, etc? Motors make noise, some more than others. Plus, the microphone amplifies the sound compared to the human ear.
I guess nobody is noticing the date at the beginning of this video. This was filmed September 1st and is the "first downhill ride" that you refer to :-)
That frequency converter beeping noise from the Ninebot just kills my ears, cant watch the clip any more 7 minutes in. Really strange that its so loud and constant even at standstill, i can seldom hear any from my Tesla
What's funny is that the Z10 is one of the quieter wheels made. Unfortunately the camera microphones tend to amplify some of the sounds, making them seem worse than they really are. The Z10 is much quieter than my Tesla, in person.
This ride was filmed September 1st. Also, I probably won't wear full armor when slow-speed riding in the mountains. My body armor is primarily for high-speed riding on pavement.

Nice group ride and loving the beat. Intense. Props to the acm carrying the acm lol. Awesome
Great ride, beautiful scenery! :)
ElectricUnicycles Marty hi !! is it worth buying a z10 in 2020? or is it out of date?
It's a great wheel but comes with a very high risk of no after sales support. I only recommend it to people that wouldn't be too bothered at losing ~$2k. But as a wheel, I also enjoy riding mine.
I bought mine a week ago for 1400.00 on eBay plus a 2 year squaretrade warranty for 69.00. I've simply always wanted one.
Great adventure!

could one use the air pumps at gas stations to fill wheel?
Yes, they use a standard valve found on car tires.

Hey Marty... Looking at getting the KS 18XL next month. On another video you tested this wheel. Does it also do the battery regenerating when traveling down hill?
All EUCs recharge the battery during braking (going downhill). It's in the very nature of how they work.

Can you jump low curbs with it, nice ride thank you. Keep up the good work.
I don't jump my wheels because of the stress that it puts on the axles, but I've seen people jump lots of curbs with the Z10.
one of my friend using z10 have the same problem, down hill only recharge one size of the battery.
Turns out that it's not a "problem", just the way that Ninebot designed their battery system. Generally considered a poor design choice on their part.
z10 may be not a good choice for climbing hill
