I enjoy these videos Barrie. Even better seeing you visit Preston Docks as myself and my Dad enjoy many walks around there. Usually nice and peaceful on a Sunday morning.
Hi Barrie. Appreciate you have taken the time in highlighting a few flaws with the Ami. Your energy and enthusiasm in wanting to customise the vehicle makes compelling viewing. I’m sure you will be hugely disappointed if you have to return the vehicle. Keep up the excellent work😊
Clearly there are a lot of people having issues with this quadricycle in the UK and with cracks like that after a few weeks you are quite right to reject it. Maybe the plastic is fine in a warmer climate like the south of France but in freezing Preston maybe not so much, maybe it becomes brittle.
I think you're being very reasonable, Barrie. You know what? When I hear you talking about your affection for this little Ami, I have this big smile on MY face! You're having fun and you appreciate the effort Citroen has made. I don't see how it could go wrong if you just decided to keep the little guy. I think it would make for a great story if you just made a little repair to the door and continued to watch for further flex damage. Even if Citroen isn't smart enough to benefit from your experience, I'm sure RUclips fans would join in your exuberant commiseration for the little beastie. Go for it, Barrie! Best wishes for continued good health and happy life from Florida.
My brother has rejected a couple of company vans in the past for poor paint quality (1 Renault Trafic,1 Ford Fiesta) Fairly minor when compared to cracked panels but both dealers dealt with it very quickly and efficiently.
As I understand it for rejection your best bet is to stop driving it and return it imeadiately to your dealership with a letter of rejection placing the ball in their court.
My issue is not with the Dealer the Amis were only available on line, ive reported my issue, it took a week for them just to forward it to another department, so i am not confident that the issue will be resolved quickly, also a warranty claim along with photos of the marks were sent to Citroen weeks ago, i haven’t had an update, so had to make the decision to reject it as i was running out of time to do so, Citroen i believe were running down the clock, also someone else who has rejected theirs and is waiting for a replacement (which there is no sign of) is still running his, so a precedent has been set
Don't forget the Ami is made out of the same cheap plastic as Portaloos. For that reason if you can get a Tube of the Bathroom Sealant, would it be possible to colour it the same as the inside of the door and use that to fix the crack? Because it's a rubber sealant that should fix the crack. If you can't do that you could just put the sealant on and I'm sure you can get a spray paint the same colour as the door. By the way, the latest Video on the Anthonytube Channel you should watch. You should see the problems he has.
Those stress marks look like uneven adhesive between the laminated panel, that adhesive is very strong and powerful stuff, plus it is probably new and unproven tech. In one section it follows the contour of the inner pocket profile.
correct me if wrong barrie, but if rejecting a vehicle aren't you supposed to stop using the said vehicle ? i had to do exactly that with a vehicle i had bought, this is irrespective of whether citroen are still "using your money". im sorry to hear youve had such hassles, i toyed with idea of getting one of these but had quality concerns, plus i had a test drive organised and had to cancel as the dealer wouldnt allow me and my partner (Who has a degree of disability) to go out on the drive together. Dealer insisted it had to have him present. I said sorry but its for me and my partner joint purchase and if she cant go with me on the test drive then no sale.
Barrie another great video and wouldn’t worry about the negative people because they won’t be happy with anything they do in life…..your looking slimmer…..
Thanks for watching, I'm on my holiday diet, not so I look good in a bathing suit but so I can eat all the fantastic Italian food and still be able to get through the door of the plane on the way back
I would be more worried on how it would standup structurally in an accident if it’s already cracking and showing stress marks in normal everyday driving.
Hi Barrie, after seeing your review on the Nissan Juke 1.6 diesel, we went out and found a beauty. Wife loves it because it’s bright yellow and I love it because it’s all you said it was so many, many thanks Barrie.
From my own experience owning a Citroen is similar to an Alfa Romeo, you need to try living with one to understand why people buy them. When they are running well and you have cured 90% of the squeeks and rattles they can give you many miles of enjoyable motoring, but you are constantly on edge waiting for another problem to arise. Other brands that i have owned that were just as bad include Jaguar and Maserati, both high end brands that are highly desirable until they develop another expensive fault. There are a number of channels on here showing the various issues that the Ami suffers from, it's all down to how much you can accept until you say enough is enough.
Suspension and the chassis ain't man enough for the neglected and pot-holed 14th century English Roads (Complete with new Monarch) . . Its not restricted to Preston . . You want to come down South and take a gander at roads in sunny parts of Noth-West London and Buckinghamshire and see the state of major roads and junctions - only suitable as tank proving grounds. By the sound of your comments here today, also sounds if the plastic body shell is more thermo than plastic fit for the purpose. Interesting though, ''cause other broadcasters on YT, such as the "Me and Mon Ami" team, who operate an Ami in Nice, France ! ( With atmospheric and radiant heat to match), are not reporting any such problems. . . .yet ! Alfa's, lovely driving cars, but very inclined to turn into iron oxide . .My 1974 Sud unfortunately ended its days as a no-fault collision write-off.
I think the ami is a good idea but the cheap and cheerful approach has made the quality of use questionable, the body work, seats, heating cooling, mirrors, the glass roof are enough to put potential customers off.I think the weather in the UK is also not very conducive in enjoying this type of vehicle.
Another enjoyable video. I’ve had a car off you in the past and everything went swimmingly. Ignore the keyboard warriors and enjoy your car and do with it as you wish. I hope everything works out with it regarding the door issue. Keep the videos coming Barrie.
Dear Mr. Crampton, Dear Reader I do appreciate Mr. Crampton's video's. He seems to be a reasonable man. And he gives the impression to be quit skilled to look at a car with knowledge and experience. So if we try to be reasonable. Would Mr. Crampton be more pleased when Citroën would pay back the sum he has paid, or would he be more helped if Citroën would change this Ami for a better example? Would it be possible for him and his colleges to inspect this car on structural faults? And when they're not there, to change the parts cracked (paid by Citroën)? Those are my thoughts, when I look at the video's. And no, of course I don't have any criticism fot the fact that Mr. Crampton is pleased and saddened by the Ami. I find it honorable that he is so honest in his video's. So, chapeau for Mr. Crampton's wish 'not to abandon his Ami dream', but having to find a solution. I really hope Citroën picks this up, as a good opportunity to show themselves from their good side. With KInd Regerds, Michel F. van den Brun Dutch pedestrian
You get trolls all over the internet, don't let the numpties get to you. I watch two Ami channels. Yours and Me and Mon Ami. The only thing that puts me off the Citroen Ami is the nearest Citroen main dealer is 26 miles away along 60mph road. How do I get it back for recalls, yearly service, etc. However, The Fiat main dealer is less than 2 miles away along 30mph roads and it seems Fiat will be bringing our a Fiat version of the Ami, made in same Morrocan factory. I've already told my Fiat dealer that I want one. It's a fantastic little town runabout. Hope you get your Ami sorted.
Hopefully this will be resolved with the dealer. I would be interested in hearing @blackbeltbarrister view on exactly what the legal position is because there are a lot of different opinions.
when they agree to take it back perhaps, but when it takes them a week to answer your email, well to pass your email on to another department i think that is an unreasonable expectation
Thats great advice Mark, when i want the suicide door to not catch, fly open and rip off, i will take it, until then lets just take it as red that i know better than you about shutting the door on an Ami
I enjoy these videos Barrie. Even better seeing you visit Preston Docks as myself and my Dad enjoy many walks around there. Usually nice and peaceful on a Sunday morning.
I like it too, about as fresh air as you can get

Hi John, life is never easy in the car job
I think you’re totally fair and hopefully Citroen wont mess you about
My brother has rejected a couple of company vans in the past for poor paint quality (1 Renault Trafic,1 Ford Fiesta) Fairly minor when compared to cracked panels but both dealers dealt with it very quickly and efficiently.
Great video Barrie, you always go through the vehicles with the pros and cons. I enjoy watching.
thanks for watching, I 'm glad you liked the video

Id agree. If rejecting a car, just stop driving it.

I have a plastic welding kit, i would actual prefer that method than having a new door if im honest, thanks 👍
Those stress marks look like uneven adhesive between the laminated panel, that adhesive is very strong and powerful stuff, plus it is probably new and unproven tech. In one section it follows the contour of the inner pocket profile.
yes its almost tracing out the pattern of the inner door, but then theres marks around the door frame too, so thats not good

yes but bear in mind that most people will be upgrading from a bicycle or a moped, and it will be safer than one of those in an accident
Clean air zones might be coming to Preston I think you have done the right thing buying it stuff what other people think 😊
i honestly really think its perfect for going to and from work

plastic becoming less flexible in cold weather?
could be

yes its a dilemma, i want to keep the car but I dont want problems in the future, especially if i fit thousands of pounds of extras
If you reject a car, you have to stop using it immediately.
when they agree to take it back perhaps, but when it takes them a week to answer your email, well to pass your email on to another department i think that is an unreasonable expectation
With you bringing the problem to Citroen maybe they will up their build quality barrie
Go back to a Range Rover mate a lot safer that’s for sure
well we do have a nice range rover in stock, and another very nice F type too
