Yes HP is serious, I bet it's $100+ to get them to do it. It's all about making more money from customers, never mind the environment!. HP the dot in the dot matrix, company should have died years ago. Got 2 Probook G5. Last HP gear I buy or recommend.

Did the trick, thanks. I do bios dumps all the time, but the "unlocker" was needed to adjust the bin file.

@@СалтанатКенжебаева-д5ы You won't find a dump based on the chip part number (w25q80ewnig). You may need the actual mainboard part number. Which could be on a sticker on the board, or more likely screen printed on the board. It may also include a revision number. Once you have that info, you'll be more likely to find a working dump.

Hello, I have an HP Elitebook 9470M (made in 2016) that has a locked BIOS and wondering what procedure you recommend to clear the BIOS password? I have been looking at using a test chip clip to modify the BIOS using RCUnlocker tool? Do you advise this one or another?
HP Tools Unlocker cant be opened with WinRar only with WinZip and than it´s not starting...
it's open with WinRAR, and the tools not develop to start, just drop the lock file on the tool, and will auto-create the unlocker

Couldn't the problem be solved by simply taking out a small battery? Then why is it needed in modern laptops?
NOPE. The password is actually stored on a chip. The RTC/CMOS chip is mainly for date/time and "remembering" configuration.

What programmer is this? Trying to unlock a BIOS locked 840 G5 (HP motherboard quote totals the notebook out)
This video is so exciting! Do you know if it also works in 450 G3 too? Is there a specific kind of bios programmer needed? I believe you have TL866 but purchasing it for one time use will be an overkill in my case. It seems CH341A is a cheap bios programmer and there are clip like tools that sits on the legs of the chip so you don't have to desolder it. Any ideas on this approach? Thanks a lot for sharing this.
I use the 431 here. Works fine.

yeah .. I'm sure everyone has an IC programming box laying around ... by the time spending umpteen $$$ to replace the BIOS chip, could just buy a different motherboard .
