So sorry about what happened to Dylan. Luckily he is only a puppy so he will get over it, although you will take a little longer. Love your vlogs. And think you are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work. Love hugs and Blessings to you all xxx
I love the wood idea, really rustic 💕🌼 I hope Dillon is on the mend, it’s so stressful when that happens, my gorgeous beagle was bitten badly it happened really quickly, the owner paid the bill and my girl recovered well, I do think that more dogs should probably be muzzled at certain times, this then allows the dog to walk safely along with appropriate training, I also think that sadly there is a stigma about walking your dog in a muzzle that really should change and anyone doing so should really be applauded and not judged for doing so 🐶🐶🐶
Hi Lorna, Thanks for your comments and apologies for the late response. We have been flat out getting on with jobs on the boat and getting the next few vlogs ready to go out - which you will hopefully have seen and enjoyed watching. We fully understand that there are two sides to this particular situation and moving forward we will endeavour to ensure that this or a similar situation does not happen again. Thankfully Dylan is on the mend and has been signed off from the vet now - which he is most happy about. I am glad your beagle also recovered. We are glad you liked the wooden panels in the bedroom, we like the way it makes the area feel warm and cosy - will be good for the cold winter days and nights. The kitchen is due to start tomorrow and we hope you will like how that looks too - when it's finally done! Take care & best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
Hi Dan, Whoops... but I've just come across a whole pile of messages that I hadn't responded to! Whilst we thought that we had, somehow we missed yours and quite a few others as well. Thank you for watching us and taking the time to comment, we really do appreciate every comment, so I am now responding to all that I missed originally. So sorry for the slow reply, next time you will get a reply in quick time. Regards, Martin By the way - we're glad your onboard and yes Dylan is naughtier than ever!
To add I love what you are doing wish i do something like that however I in the middle of Oklahoma in the USA so i will have to settle for watching you on RUclips and dreaming of one day be blessed
That is a devastating course of events for you, your dog and all involved, but if I was in that situation with my dog running free and the other dog on a lead, I would had to have taken some level of responsibility and I could not have reported the other owner to the police after the vet bill was paid
Hi GRW, Sorry for the slow response but I have been working up until today. I thank you for your comments and value your opinion and you have stimulated a very important discussion. May I add some detail as I feel I may not have given you the full picture in our vlog. Dylan isn't aggresive and is actually a gentle dog, very empathic around other dogs of a nervous disposition, puppies and children so he always gives them a wide berth unless called to come. We absolutely agree with dogs being on lead when in areas where there are other dogs on leads and children. We always put Dylan back on his lead when we see other dogs approaching on leads too. Now although I wasn't there at the time Donna was walking Dylan, I can assure you that Donna has full control of Dylan all the time and he responds to recall straight away when off lead. However she was momentarily distracted picking up his mess when the man came around the corner with his dog on a lead ( I don't wish to mention the breed of dog because sadly it already has a bad reputation ). Dylan approached the other dog and without warning or provocation was clamped around his mouth by the dog and what ensued lasted several minutes. Possibly because of the previous incidents, possibly because he realised that he didn't have control of his dog or possibly because of the harm and damage his dog had inflicted on Dylan, the owner insisted that he paid the bill and gave us his phone number to sort things out. The man paid the bill over the phone and I thanked him at that time when we were at the vets. The vet then told us, "it wasn't her place to report this incident but she advised us to report the incident to the police". Neither the vet or us were aware of the previous incidents at this time! The next day, whilst trying to walk Dylan, he didn't want to go to the park although he needed to go to the toilet. We were informed by other dog owners in our community when they saw Dylan with his injuries about the dog and his owner and they also told us that we had to report this. We were ourselves traumatised and unsure what to do and ummmed and ahhhed for a couple of days as it isn't in our nature to do this but everybody was concerned about the attack and urged us to report it. When we spoke to the police we emphasised that the man paid the bill, that Dylan wasn't on a lead and the dog in question was. So we believe we gave a full account in the man and his dogs' defence. We feel sad for anyone who has to walk their dog/s at inconvenient times or at a distance to avoid other animals and unfortunately we now fall into this category! Even though Donna and myself are still distressed and Dylan is very anxious by the whole matter. Having read and learnt from your views and opinions, we will try and move forward with a better understanding.
@@narrowboatnomads thank you for your reply. Having read your detailed response to my observations, I now have a better understanding of the distressing situation which evolved in an instance and your course of actions which I can now appreciate. Have you thought about getting a small bottle of compressed air for dog walking, it can provide a dog friendly split second distraction when dispatched and more importantly some reassurance in your back pocket.
Hi Jayne, Thanks very much for your message and best wishes. Dylan's cone came off yesterday and he is healing nicely. He is, understandably, anxious about going out but we hope that without his cone he will begin to settle down. We are looking forward to getting back on track and have been keeping busy decorating in the bedroom area and we are expecting the first part of our kitchen to arrive later this week which we are looking forward to getting started on, Thanks again and take care, Best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
Hi Martin, Sorry, I've just come across a whole pile of messages that I hadn't responded to! Thanks for his get well wishes, he seems to be over the worst now.
Hi guys. So sorry to hear about Dylan. My little Jack Russell was attacked by my friends dog. A greyhound/staffy cross. The dog picked my dog up and was shaking him. We finally managed to get the dog to release his jaws and our dog dog had some very deep puncture wounds on his shoulder and chest. It happened so suddenly. These were both dogs that knew each other and had previously played together. I think on the day that the other dog saw my little boy as prey. Anyway he made a full recovery physically but remained wary of other dogs-especially dark coloured dogs. We lost him suddenly last year due to an undiscovered tumour but, while we had him, he was our little lad. Wishing Dylan a speedy recovery.
Hi Andy, Firstly, we are so sorry to hear of the sudden and sad loss of your little boy last year, they become such a huge part of our family. The incident of your boy's attack must have been so traumatic and so unexpected too. Dylan is anxious about going out and has constantly been pulling us back home. We hope that now his cone has come off and he his healing nicely that he will become less anxious in time. Thanks for sending your best wishes and we are sorry if our vlog bought up difficult memories for you. It sounds like he gave you so much joy and pleasure and we hope you have many happier and fond memories of him. Take care and best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
Hi Martin, Thanks for your message. You are right about it happening so quickly and we are pleased to be able to let you know that Dylan's cone came off yesterday and he is healing well. We are now looking forward to having a boat that isn't being wrecked by his walking into everything. Having said that we are now going to start ripping out the kitchen in the next few days so it's going to get very messy before it gets better! Take care & best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
Hi Yvonne, Thanks for your message and apologies for the delay in responding. Dylan is still very anxious about going out for walks and we hope that he will get better with a bit of time. On a positive note, his cone came off yesterday and thankfully he is healing well. We are also relieved it's come off as it was proving to be quite difficult to avoid having our legs grazed by the edges of the cone as he walked past us and we renamed it the "cone of pain" :). Take care and best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
Hy Lynda, Thanks for your message. We are thankful that his eyes and nose area didn't receive any damage. He is mending well and his cone came off yesterday which hopefully means he will be happier when being taken out for a walk as understandably he is very anxious and we thought the cone may of made him feel more vulnerable as it was restricting his ability to see like normal. We will keep you up to date on how he is doing. Take care and best wishes Donna, Dylan & Martin
