I have one of those, also. I didn’t like the design either. I doubled the frame rails, replaced the angle iron crossmembers with 2” square tube, and put a real fifth wheel hitch on it. I found a handful of cracks all over it. Nice job on the repair.
Great of Papa Dar to ask you all if you could do it. Whatever else you were planning that day, was held up only a short time. Great job, and one happy customer!
It was a good job getting this guy back on his vacation. It sucks to be that far from home and have problems like that and I am sure he was stressed out. Good job guys.
I worked in my daddy's shop since I was 5 holding the light and fetching tools. One thing that I really appreciate is a tidy, uncluttered shop. When I got my own shop, I decided that the last step in every project was clean and put away the tools. Sean's dad's shop is my kind of shop.
I've watched all you folks, your family, everyone.papadar is my kind of guy.....I'm 66 and I was raised in a rock plant. If he called I would be there in a heart beat also. Good stuff for me. Thanks.✌
I'm not going to lie, I would have used the ole. "I'm sorry, but you can't be in the shop for insurance purposes. Nice guy, but that would have driven me nuts.
@89Built I kinda appreciate the customer bring there. That way they see the crap i had to deal with and what I've done to impove or fix it. I like showing off. If they don't like the work I'm doing, they can always take it some place else!
You guys nailed it!! You know that engine is screaming pulling that thing up and down those Utah mountains. Having a customer stand there is no fun, but he built it so I understand.
Good to see Papa Dar and he knows who to bring welding jobs to when their needed. Shane and Sean working their magic fabricating, welding supports in the rv trailer so the gent can get home safely towing his trailer. Good video and content!
There's nothing better than a small community where everyone knows everyone else and who to contact when you need some help. Good job helping get StePHen back on the road.😂
hehe, Papa Dar is like omnipresent 🙂 Cool project, and a good job it seems, and certainly good that it got fixed before an accident happened. It ain't easy fixing stuff with the customers around, that are sometimes second guessing everything you do... but this gentleman seemed to actually know a thing or two as well.
Been a long time since we've see Pappy Dar! LOL! He is looking pretty good.... Nice fix and engineering on that hitch. Better than "store bought"! Thanks for sharing.
Good job guys by that man standing right by you watching you and your Dad fix his baby that he fixed up he knows where to go for quality work if he comes through town again 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🤘🤘
Awesome job!!! That fix will never fail. Aways glad to see your little ones. You and your Dad rocks! HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING DAY 🙏 to you and your family 😊
He has the added weight on the front of that hitch. The hitch wasn't designed for that. Plus, he's got those toolboxs hanging off the back bumper. It puts more undue stress on the frame that wasn't designed for that setup. You did a good job fixing it.
I didn't know that Papa Dar had a campground. Learn something new everyday...or maybe I outta start listening closer and more often. Sure glad he contacted with you and your Dad. We like the way you both work...and so does Papa Dar...and so does the happy camper. With that job...I'm sure he won't have a problem on the way home...except maybe a little paint can't handle.
Nice job, Gents! The customer seemed knowledgeable and was wise to kinda stay out of the way. I’m sure he was a happy camper when he left! (No pun intended)
Having worked in a small shop for a few years, I remember that our favorite customers were the ones who dropped the rig off, said fix it, call me when you’re done, then left. 😂 I try to be that guy. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Working with the customer there is sometimes tricky, but from what i could see he did not seem too bad. When I am paying someone to work for me, I typically just ID the issue, what I was thinking for a fix and any boundaries I don't want to crossed, and then I leave so I am not in the way. He was in way a bit but not too bad. Great job guys.
You two guys have great personalities. If I was in dire need with something that needed fixin, as soon as I started talkin with ya I would feel at ease. Your honesty and quality of work speaks for itself. Thanks for the videos. You two are naturals and a joy to watch. Much blessings. John here, photographing the beauty of the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee, y'all.
Nice helping out a visitor, through Papa Dar. That new piece looks pretty stout, especially with the angled brace. That should hold up pretty well, forever!
I love to weld and fabricate, but on a house trailer not so much. The stories of things burning up afterward told to me by more experienced folks makes me steer clear. I witnessed a guy set the control room of a chip mill to smoldering from sparks ... we had to put it out with a water hose ... on all of those electronics. Scary for sure. Wood combined with welding is pretty risky. ✌
I wish more manufacturers would stress to RV owners that just because you upgrade the axle and tires doesn't make the carrying capacity of the trailer any greater. The reason he's there is 10lbs in a 5lb bag.. originally the Scamp, was a Marvel, it was purely built as a lightweight, light duty trailer. Please people for everybody's safety, if you need bigger and heavier, buy something that is engineered to do bigger and heavier..
I owned an AT4 Canyon. Loved that truck. I often thought about towing a camp trailer with it. I was in doubt of the 3.6 V6 towing ability. The Missouri man proved me wrong. Thanks for another great video.
Love the fact you pointed out that you can over strengthen something and make the original frame a weak spot. Such a crucial thing to understand when repairing frames
Nice job on that guys. I remember when I lifted my 1973 Boler four inches to put 15 inch wheels on it. That steel frame is pretty light. It sure raised the trailer though for getting into rougher spots. Thanks for the video.
Glad you got him fixed up! But I have to say, there's nothing more annoying than to have the customer under your feet when you're trying to work. You showed great patience. Good work Gentlemen 👍
Nothing worse than having the customer watching while you’re thinking.. added stress, plus when you talk about and working out the problem and solutions the customer is giving their two cents. This guy was okay
He seemed to know what was needed. O agree about customers over the shoulder but this guy seemed to stay back after they went over what was needed to be done. I think they all knew right away that this guy just needed their help because he wasnt in his own shop. I bet if they woulda turned him loose, he woulda jumped in and done it himself.
Good morning from Maui ,another great video , you and your dad are terrific especially working in front of the customer , me on the other hand get very nervous when a customer is watching me work , you guys are awesome keep up the good work and have a nice day
I wish you could've gone for a look inside. I would've liked to see his remodel! I live in a 85 Casita 16' camper. Sweet 19'! Looked much better on the way out even if you messed up the paint. His paint had lots of cracks in it!
You and your Dad are what we here in Oklahoma call, Good Ole Boys. Just ready, willing and able to help in any way you can. I REALLY like your show.
I appreciate that
Thanks
He could have not broke down in a better spot. Two great guys helped him out !!!
I have one of those, also. I didn’t like the design either. I doubled the frame rails, replaced the angle iron crossmembers with 2” square tube, and put a real fifth wheel hitch on it. I found a handful of cracks all over it.
Nice job on the repair.
Thanks for sharing
Need to get Papa Dar a napping chair for the shop 😀
Lol. Agree. Haven't seen that in sometime.
@@macattack1392Usually his nap time was in the winter.
@@HazzyME He was too busy working the rest of the year to take naps, made up for those lost naps in the winter!
That air bag is why the welds cracked. That stress has to go somewhere, same thing is happening with the bumper hitch airbags.
loved how you all talked things out!. no egos, just solutions.
Shane and Sean have another happy customer ..that fix will take him across the USA...Good seeing Papa Dar
Great of Papa Dar to ask you all if you could do it. Whatever else you were planning that day, was held up only a short time. Great job, and one happy customer!
Yes
It was a good job getting this guy back on his vacation. It sucks to be that far from home and have problems like that and I am sure he was stressed out. Good job guys.
I worked in my daddy's shop since I was 5 holding the light and fetching tools. One thing that I really appreciate is a tidy, uncluttered shop. When I got my own shop, I decided that the last step in every project was clean and put away the tools. Sean's dad's shop is my kind of shop.
Great point!
I've watched all you folks, your family, everyone.papadar is my kind of guy.....I'm 66 and I was raised in a rock plant. If he called I would be there in a heart beat also. Good stuff for me. Thanks.✌
Wow, thank you
I like watching you make people happy....and believe me....that's not easy!
Great fix but it is always hard working on something when the customer is standing right over you telling you what he thinks is right
Very true!
I was going to say the same thing
I was going to give you & your dad credit for your patience with your customer! Very professional
Having your own channel was a good choice for you Sean, it is exactly what I needed.
Thanks
Like your channel ALOT better than fabrats.
Great video that man was lucky the hitch didn't break completely off
Yeah thanks
The fabrication talent out of Long Valley is absolutely fantastic. Keep up the good work and content!
Thank you! Will do!
Lucky to break down in this town , that structure looked pretty light duty for sure.
You guys nailed it!! You know that engine is screaming pulling that thing up and down those Utah mountains. Having a customer stand there is no fun, but he built it so I understand.
Sure helped him out of a bad spot, that was pretty cool!!✌️🇺🇲
Always got time to help a man out, I know he appreciated your work and time. See ya next trip !
No doubt!
Consultant Dar has contractors all over Utah 👍😎✊
Great fix. Glad you could help him out. Good to see Papa Dar!
Fixing it right in spite of the customer, lol. A lot of old timers say “good enough”. You dad over does everything, love it
loved how you all talked things out!. no egos, just solutions.😍
You guys are perfect for this job!
Honest & great work!
You did a great job fixing that old trailer. Stephen will never forget his time in your shop. It's good to see Papa Dar, too.
It’s always fun when Dar comes around
You should stop by
Good job and good to see Papa Dar
Definitely 200% stronger. Well done on that repair!
Thank you, guys, for fixing the trailer. He didn't have very many more miles before that completely broke apart. Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
He would have never made it across the reservation. Thanks have a great thanksgiving day
Good to see Papa Dar and he knows who to bring welding jobs to when their needed. Shane and Sean working their magic fabricating, welding supports in the rv trailer so the gent can get home safely towing his trailer. Good video and content!
When dad says it is good I would be totally relaxed, he is a iron work master 🤗👏
if you have to break down you found the right guys to fix it for ya another day with a awesome family
Guys , you made a friend with Stephen for life. Just the piece of mind he has now that it's fortified . Thanks for sharing, and stay safe.
There's nothing better than a small community where everyone knows everyone else and who to contact when you need some help.
Good job helping get StePHen back on the road.😂
˝Great Video! The 5th wheel looked a lot better after your repair.
Thanks 👍
Love papa dar!
Glad to see you guys are great friends with him as well!
Dar and I have been friends since we were kids
@frostys64 ya I heard u say you've known him 100 years. very cool
hehe, Papa Dar is like omnipresent 🙂 Cool project, and a good job it seems, and certainly good that it got fixed before an accident happened.

Good job guys by that man standing right by you watching you and your Dad fix his baby that he fixed up he knows where to go for quality work if he comes through town again 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍🤘🤘
Thanks 👍
When I break down (and I will) I hope I am close to you guys and Papa Dar.
Awesome job!!! That fix will never fail. Aways glad to see your little ones. You and your Dad rocks! HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING DAY 🙏 to you and your family 😊
Thanks! You too!
You guys are great! Really cool stuff what you did both for the guy and with your work.
Great job fellas! It was never a question if you could fix it but rather how. Papa Dar knows who he can call on.
He has the added weight on the front of that hitch. The hitch wasn't designed for that. Plus, he's got those toolboxs hanging off the back bumper. It puts more undue stress on the frame that wasn't designed for that setup. You did a good job fixing it.

Looks good it came out nice. It will never break again. Have a good sunday with the family.
Same to you
Wow, I hope he feels lucky! People like you are few and far between. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Nice job, Gents! The customer seemed knowledgeable and was wise to kinda stay out of the way. I’m sure he was a happy camper when he left! (No pun intended)
We agree!
Great seeing papa Dars.
That will be good for another 33 years, great job all the way around.
Thanks 👍
Good job guys! I hope you charged him extra for him to supervise! 😎
Sean you abd your Dad are Great. The best part is spending time with family. Keep them comimg
GREAT VIDEO SHANE AND SHAWN TY
Y'all did a good job, he'll make it home now, no problem
That ol timer will have a Utah story forever! All he gonna do when he gets home is paint it! Thxs
You folks are what are called "Good people". the world is better thanks to people like you.
Thank you I’m betting just like you as well!!
Having worked in a small shop for a few years, I remember that our favorite customers were the ones who dropped the rig off, said fix it, call me when you’re done, then left. 😂 I try to be that guy. Great video, thanks for sharing.
We didn't even have to be there for the whole interaction to know that he's not one of those favorite customers.
You guys have a great attitude so calm and nice
We try but not always the case
@ I hear that.
Working with the customer there is sometimes tricky, but from what i could see he did not seem too bad. Great work
That was about ready to let go. After your repairs it will now last forever.
You two guys have great personalities. If I was in dire need with something that needed fixin, as soon as I started talkin with ya I would feel at ease. We LOVE Papa Dar!❤
Shane and Son/s to the rescue..... interesting to see ya'll !
Another great video guys 👍
Thanks 👍
Life saver!!!❤❤
Great job again.
We appreciate that
Nice helping out a visitor, through Papa Dar. That new piece looks pretty stout, especially with the angled brace. That should hold up pretty well, forever!
Very good repair. Stronger than factory!
HWY 89 road ambassadors. Bet that guy is thankful Pappa Darr sent him your way.
I love to weld and fabricate, but on a house trailer not so much. The stories of things burning up afterward told to me by more experienced folks makes me steer clear. Yes it is
Awesome job Shane and Sean, another great video! Y'all are true craftsmen! I look forward to seeing the next video
Thanks 👍
Your know how on so many diverse projects fascinates me. Can do attitude is fabulous.

I just bought the duramax model and so far we love it
I gave considerable consideration the Duramax but the dealer talked me out of it. Plus it was a lot more money. Best of luck with your purchase.
Another good job thank you again guys
Love the fact you pointed out that you can over strengthen something and make the original frame a weak spot. Such a crucial thing to understand when repairing frames

Right on
What a great thing for you and your dad to do!
Good on the owner to pick up on the problem too. That could have gotten real ugly crossing the rockies
good job like seeing you and your dad working together
Thanks 👍
Good job 👍🏽
Great Job & I Really Liked That Extra Center Brace 👍👍👍😜
Thanks! 👍
Helping outsiders is great!
Glad you got him fixed up! But I have to say, there's nothing more annoying than to have the customer under your feet when you're trying to work. You showed great patience. Good work Gentlemen 👍
That had to be a bit nerve wrecking welding up against chip board. Good job!
Yes it was!
Really enjoyable thanks for posting 👍👍

Scamp 5th wheel...LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
You are right about those roads near Shiprock. That will be the strongest test known to man!!!
For reals!!
Good morning from Maui ,another great video , you and your dad are terrific especially working in front of the customer , me on the other hand get very nervous when a customer is watching me work , you guys are awesome keep up the good work and have a nice day
Great job!!
Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Good fix!
This was very interesting to watch! I pull a bumper pull for 20 years.
great as always great content very entertaining good job
Much appreciated
