I swear I must be living under a rock - or maybe it's just that music has been completely barren until I saw these guys last night opening for the Cure in Denver. It Never Was the Same was just... just transcendent. This is real music. Finally.
Saw them and the Cure last night in Minneapolis. OUTSTANDING!
+John White yes same here. saw them last night as well. I was blown away by these guys. very nice surprise.
I was in Denver that night as well "Fiddlers Green" .....
GREAT GREAT SHOW 😎
felt the same way in Montreal last night, pure gold.
totally agree--the answer to my poetic heart's prayers. Just discovered them last night at The Cure in Miami. Great great band
As a Scottish person maybe I’m being biased to say they’re one of the best bands going.
As an unbiased British person I totally agree. There have been so fucking many amazing Scottish bands in the last decade. Doesn't get any better than twilight sad ❤
As an American, I agree
As a mexican, i agree
Wow, cool! I'm so lucky to run across them. Can you please tell me what he might mean by "measurable music" at 4:30?
@@AnnaIsHere He said miserable Scottish music
Listened to this 4 times in a row now ... Absolutely stunning ....
Thank God for Robert Smith ❤️ I discovered a lot of my favourite artists through him, and The Twilight Sad were the best opening act i’ve ever seen, i hope TS will tour next year, I want to see them
Moody, contemplative instrumentation and arguably one of the most beautiful baritone vocals to showcase in the last decade. Twilight Sad nails economic lyrical writing, too. Every aching second is a heart-tugger.
I'm literally obsessed with this beautiful band right now. Heard for the first time last night opening for The Cure! We should know more about them here in the States!
As an American who has been a fan since 2016... cheers to the UK. I've never been but your country fucking rules in terms of music. I'm saving money and PTO at my company to come visit Cardiff, London, and Edinburgh in that order. Keep fucking rocking boys, you do it better than anyone. Love from America
Oh goodness, this entire performance is absolutely amazing, but this performance of Leave The House is seriously on a whole other level. So good. This is why I love KEXP. Keep bringing us this awesome music guys!
They proved that the real music still exists
FINALLY !!! we are safe !!! from 2016 sounds :)
Follow them since the beginning. So moving, vulnerable, deep
This is one of the most amazing performances, by any band, ever.
One of my very favorite bands at the moment and for some time to come, for sure. Sadly, the enormous wall of sound that is usually conveyed in their music is missing here b/c of the poor recording. Well, I'm glad that James' voice is just perfect and wonderful and recorded cleanly. Love these guys!
Yeah need more guitar sound
What a perfect band!
You guys rocked in Charlotte!! So many people came for the show! Keep going up!!
Have seen them in october 2022 in munich ... Just brilliant.
Discovered these guys from a video game of all places back in 2006. Been top 5 favorite bands of all time ever since. I was sad to see Mark go felt like losing a family member.
What game was that?
I'm so glad to see KEXP video of this one of my favorite band !!! so sad i never will see them alive...
I thought the same way, living in a really poor city but they performed a show 8 hours away and through a lot of saving up and wishful thinking, I got to see them with my sister :). You never know what could happen in the future ;)
Anna Curejasing Saw them twice. Loudest shows I've ever been to.
i don't ever want to meet the people who don't like this. saw the TS in brussels years ago and can still feel their energy today.
top ten favorite bands of all time!! they just sound magical constant goose bumps every time i listen to them.
You're not coming back
You're not coming back from this
She's not coming back
She's not coming back from this
There's a girl in the corner and she's crying for you
Gonna die for you
She's not coming back
She's not coming back from this
We're not coming back
We're not coming back again
You said you'd leave me and I won't forget
I'm holding on and I'll see how far
You thought you loved but you'll just forget
You're holding on but not too far
You're not coming back
We're not coming back from this
To all the boys you know
They don't belong outside, outside, outside
She's not coming back
She's not coming back again
You said you failed
You dare not
You said you failed
You dare not
You sold me
You saved me
You saved
You sold me
You saved me
You saved
She's not coming back
She's not coming back from this
She's not coming back
She's not coming back from this
finally i´m seeing this guys live with good sound one of my favourite bands thanks from oporto
I just saw them with The Cure at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland. They were fantabulous. I checked their stuff out before the show and quickly fell in love. James has this passionate spastic way on stage. He is so committed and unabashedly honest he can't hold back. It's so endearing. The best opening band for The Cure ever.
I saw these guys in Boston in like 2008 when they had like one album and I loved it. Glad to see they're still making music and they've evolved on top of it. Very cool.
I've seen these guys twice in Seattle last year, i love them!
One of the absolute best bands ever.
how can u not love this seriously
I loved these guys at the Cure in Montreal. They really rocked it! Perfect choice to open for the Cure
I saw them open for the Cure in Vancouver and was blown away. Didn't know anything about them before that show. Shades of Ian Curtis in some of his movements.
My thoughts exactly. I saw them open for for The Cure in Boston on June 16, and really liked them. I said right away, Joy Division. Own their two most recent albums now.
I just the saw them with the Cure at MSG, the Monday night show. It was a great time. IT was a shame that half the crowd showd up late and didnt this bad. They have so much talent.
same here in Miami, they were awesome :)
+Nicole Washburn same.
who else went to the Cure and saw this opening band in person?
me...
Dragon King oh my god, yes. i was so impressed when they opened for them, i was like "damn, these guys have talent." They were a very pleasant surprise.
me too :)
Tithe cure always with surprises. I first saw Interpol w/ Them! amazing band, this is like the Scottish Interpol.
this voice and this music, just addictive!!!
I have seen them perform last month March in the Paradiso, Amsterdam. (de Kleine zaal max. 500 persons). That same evening I bought a ticket for their performance in the EKKO Utrecht, Netherlands (max 500 persons). They deserve much bigger venues in my opinion. I think next year we will see them in the bigger venues in the Netherlands. Together with Frightened Rabbits they are one of those underrated Scottish bands,
I really have no words, kind of 80´s with very nice atmosphere.
Really cool guys ! Very well done! Melancholic and sincerity at stage..
Never ever gets old ❤❤❤❤ still shiver
So glad you will be supporting the Cure again. I think Robert Smith approves ;-)
7 Years of these guys in my life!
i love so much the guitar sound
The drummer is incredible on ‘Last January’.
This band is amazing
Saw these guys last night in Maryland and they opened for the cure.. they were a pretty solid opening act and the music was perfect for setting up the atmosphere for the cure.. yeah it was a really good show :)
same liked twilight more than the cure
loving them
just saw these Guys at the Cure concert! I'm a new fan
Fantastic songs!
nothing more than the feeling i'm in to right now!
...... Simply amazing band.... I cannot believe I am just discovering them....
they were excellent, beautifull voice! He reminds me of Ian Curtis(Joydivision) with his crazy moves!
and he is even better
Wow! what a great band! i just saw and heard of them for the first time as the opening band for the cure!
now after they get done touring with the cure they will have a super fan base in the states so they can tour the usa as the head liner band! make sure you guys stop in philly to play!
this is just...incredible
great performance!
Love song!
Just discovered them, mind-blown.
This is brilliant
amazing band .. great opening for the cure in Miami ❤ very humble guy and you can tell he gets lost in the melody, his dance and the way he kept looking up the sky.
Słucham..słucham..słucham..może kiedyś na żywo..MARZENIE.
Amazing! ❤
They need to come back to the US soon. So amazing live this video does them no justice.
the main reason, that the guitar and the bass is kinda muted is probably that the KEXP (or someone else) recorded/uploaded just the mix going into PA system, which lacks the instruments played loudly on the stage (guitar and bass of course versus keys, you can hear keys clearly). I visited gig in Vienna and I can tell you, guitar and the bass were pushing from amps so loudly, you dont need it mixed in PA so much. just to mix them together to whole stage sound. with keys louder it sounds sometimes kinda ,,Cure-ish", I like that.
Saw them last night at the Troubadour and the guitar was mixed very similar. Mostly background static sound on many songs. I can hear the bass just fine in this video.
Saw 'em supporting Editors back in 2015 I think. Hooked since then. Fantastic (live-)band!
Awesome 💕💕💕💕
Wow
Just
Wow
Merci The Cure de m'avoir fait découvrir ce groupe !
My FeveRit Singer 3>. I'll go and watch them at 18. nov. 2108 in The Botanique in Brussels, together with my love and my son who turns 18 that day.
This band is great :-)
Buenísimos!!!
i'm in love
great guitar sound great accent and lyrics
It's only the best for The Cure Twilight Sad was phonomenal in Atlanta love this track so much☆
J suis fan de cette bande magnifique ❤
Can't wait to see them in Glasgow next year (hopefully) after the pandemic is under control.
ohhhh divine
Profundo!!!
Just starting listening since they will be opening for the Cure in Philly ..wow his voice like a Irish Depeche Mode love it
You do realise he's Scottish and not Irish right?
I can't wait to see them w The Cure in May :)
+Jennifer Tack right! I've wanted to see the Cure for ever and when I saw that they were coming to Canada I was hyped, then i saw the Sad were opening and thanks the music gods. Saw the Sad at Neumos, awesome show
*excited*
+Jennifer Tack YEAH! I can't wait to see them live either - they have a wonderful vibe !
+Alejandro Michael truth
Jennifer Tack #truth
Los acabo de ver hoy abriendo el concierto de The Cure en Hollywood. Son muy buenos. Me gustó mucho la voz de James Graham, es desgarradora.
This fucking band is so perfect.
still rockin'
Simplemente es perfecto
Andy's guitar is suffering so much on this performance
Makes the whole thing sadly not worth watching. A shame, really. :-/
JosephGallagher not really the best vocal performance either :/
session as a whole not the best
+JosephGallagher he is really a great guitar player.
refreshingly devoid of pretension. How a band such as Iceage gets better press than The Twilight Sad is beyond me.
Excited to see them open up for The Cure, but would love to have them solo too! Come to the east coast Twilight Sad, would love to see a full set!
Specifically, come to NYC!
OMG!!! Another reason to be eternally grateful to Robert Smith and The Cure......if not for his cover of Twilight Sad's TAGITC......I might not have listened to their music. Wow! What a pleasure this is. Thanks for the upload. XD
Also meant to add that I absolutely love 'Dead City'......check it out if you haven't heard it. Brilliant!
Super!
I really loved their performance ♡ btw What shoes are those ??
beautiful i love it
seems to me like the sound was recorded via a H4 or similar via line input however the recording device was placed on a mixer output that gave the raw input of the mixer out. Not the mixed sound.
a light Joy Division Ghost on stage......
Clint Westwood
Saw them in Miami last night. Fantastic. Lots of great Indy bands as always from UK. Scotland is doing work. Frightened Rabbit is great as well.
Poezja dla ucha :)
I'm happy that I could see them live in Utrecht(NL), they were intense and euphoric and would love to see them live again. Sadly this performance does not have that vibe.
un gros gros kiff
wow.....
Saw them with the cure, very good band
They need to turn that guitar up! Especially at 3:06 & 7:46
Our own Ian Curtis
no.... when I saw them, i said to myself, how funny, it's a mix between, Ian Curtis, The Cure and Morrissey .... I stay astonished for 35 minutes ! he seams so shy, Love them !
No
Great music, can't wait to see them with The Cure @ the MSG this Summer 2016 !!!!
Very frustrating that the sound is horribly off. Great performance that is marred by the engineering...
Exactly. The mixing is terrible. Guitar and bass lost and the synth too dominating
It was mixed for the room, Andy's amp would be really loud (they're a bit notorious for that) so none of him, and of course tons of keys and vocals cause otherwise they couldn't be heard at all. Still a complete oversight to not record the tracks individually and re-mix in post. Really is frustrating, there isn't anything better so we're stuck with this
sounds really good. Cant wait till tomorrow to see them with the The Cure!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait till June 11th Chicago. Cheers!!!
