I use to salvage the licensed bodies and light kits from the scx24 RTRs that I had. This doesn't even have that. I don't like the body but if I did I would just buy the body.
I own the Range Rover. The base camp is definitely more formidable because it has better ground clearance with bigger tires. The Base Camp is not as “tippy” because the RR has a lot of scale look, with looks come higher center of gravity. So performance wise, Base Camp will do well but I do think the oil filled shocks and drive train of RR make it very capable.
I think my favorite thing about the Basecamp is that its pretty much a scx24 deadbolt with a different body at the same price and that no one realize its the same truck with different body
RAD vid. We are upgrading ours now for a video shoot this weekend in little Moab just outside SLC Utah. Love the new body going to look good on the sand stone!
Now everyone wants oil shocks. This isn’t a $300 truck. It’s an entry level truck that crawls quite well. It looks good and can accept any scx upgrade. It does have the newer and much better electronics. So it’s some better than a deadbolt because they still run the v1 electronics and smaller motor. It will sell very well imo.
Great little truck and like the tenth-scale Base Camp - a good price and a platform with tons of potential. I'd really like to see an updated chassis though, maybe a carbon, comp-style chassis? And, Axial has got to get with the times and start including oil filled shocks with all their releases! 🤷🏻♂️ That being said, great price for guys wanting a project build where they are going to replace most of the parts, anyways!
To get the cost down for this "canvas" they used the unlicensed body, and the older cheaper shocks. Im not sure why they used the falken tires and black rhino wheels. Now, just offer a kit with no tires or wheels, no as1 servo, and they can keep the 88t motor. At a decent price i would love a kit.
Yeah, I think the goal was to appeal to a younger or less experienced market while giving hardcore guys a cheaper platform to build on, since you'll replace all those parts anyways.
Not trying to be a dick here , genuinely interested , what 1/10 scales would you suggest ? If someone is looking at 1/24 because around 100 bucks is what their budget allows then doubling or even tripling that budget to get into comparable quality 1/10 scale territory is a helluva stretch.
Good on axial for offering a cheaper option but the fact that any scx24 is still being sold in 2024 with a motor and servo that aren't fit for long term entry level crawling is beyond a joke. You shouldn't have to upgrade just to keep the truck running at a base level.
I really don't understand where they are trying to go with this , a more crappier crap than usual For 20 more bucks we can get the fcx24 that is far superior, the redcat ascent , the deadbolt is exactly the same price and c10 is also 20 more bucks i think
i dont get what axial is doing, they havent changed anything on the past 3 trucks they have made except the body and the fact they are still putting on friction dampening shocks is just whack
They are targeting a different buyer. New/younger drivers or people that want to build off of the platform. Pretty smart marketing…specially now that it’s close to the holidays 🤷🏻♂️.
The front and rear links are actually different lengths on most models as well as wheel size. When you're driving the stock c10 and deadbolt they feel very different. Plus the newer 3 models before this actually have oil shocks. This is meant to be a basic bare bones model to keep the price down.
@@brendanmilborne7049 but still compared to everything else on the market at this price range it doesnt come close. the ascent18 is 120 and has oil shock, portals, sealed bearings and metal gears. axial out the box is toy grade compared to everything else right now for around a hundred dollar rtr.
I like it cause I have its big brother basecamp. An i can easily find space for that little guy 🚙

i want to see the scx24 base camp vs camel fms range rover. both stock

I definitely have to agree, I acually like the BaseCamp look now in the mini, it has that Toyota Tacoma look that I like.
When you tried to drive into the terrain of the back of the box, I died. 😂🤣
Much love brother. 🤙
😂 started my day with a good laugh

Great place to start
Where were you headed? Thru the box?? I like cheap scx24 base truck to start. What do you say we get a kit version for cheaper?
Cool stuff 👍😁😎✌️
Nice newish release.
Looks like the receiver case is split apart.
3:35 holy crap joe is this the exoplex?! I didn’t even realize until you went outside…er!
So 1/24 scale crawlers or the Redcat Danchee?
2 totally different things whats the most common in your area?
The esc look broken??
Totally looks opened at the tabs. Hmm wish he would of addressed that.
So a crisp C note: this or the FMS?
FMS bud , it's not even close 👍👌
Killer!!

Yeah shame about them using the old crappy shocks

💯@@jerryvolpini7987
Wish it was 18th scale. Compete with trx4m or ascent18
Except the Traxxas and Redcat are closer to 1/24-scale anyways so, pretty much on a level playing field.
Agreed. Too small for the non gimp handed 😂
Is this in stock now
Im all for this
I'd rather buy the Ascent 18. It imo has a better chassis design geared towards performance.
👍👍😃
Neat!
👍
Furitek is leaps and bounds a head of axial in the 1/24 department …
Furitek is nice , but over priced
I have jeep and barely drive it, you are better off saving a little more money and buying a 1/10 rtr

These are pretty cool but.. why would they upgrade all the scx24 shocks then a year later release this with friction shocks? That makes zero sense.

Soooo it’s just the deadbolt with the base camp body. Man Axial has fallen off hard.
C10
First baby!
Race camp junior??
We love that idea!!!
Thats the first thing I thought of too💯🤸♀️🙌🏁

Damn i thought it was 1/10 basecamp. Not into the scx24 but into all the 1/18s crawlers.
Same thing different body and bumper's I say spend 20 bucks more and get the acsent 18 it's 1000 time's better
in the current market, this isn't worth 49$, let alone 99$
this is borderline toy-level in 2024, but they're charging hobby money. awful release
EXACTLY!! axial does not have the product value that matches their prices
Geez, the bidenomics RC corporate business model has officially hit its peak SMH. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
