- A quick video on how to remove the headlight switch and the beam level adjustment unit (also referred to as the range controller).
Very simple, requires no tools and takes about a couple of minutes tops! If you are planning to change the headlight switch to a unit with chrome/satin accents or even the Mk8 unit from Golf, check it out! :)

This is really cool when you know about it!
Really fucking annoying when you've spent half an hour trying to figure it out....
Haha 🤣 Germans I tell you!
For upgrading to headlamp leveler with cluster brightness adjustment switch, we need to buy only that switch or anything else required.. Like can we use existing connector for that switch
Hi Jorly, you’ll need a new adjustment unit, a pin which connects to the headlight adjustment switch and a cable which connects to the fuse box’s existing cable. Will make a clip on this modification shortly.
I have a question since you’re the best mechanic in youtube for VW Polos. You taught me every single thing I can do on my polo but now something popped up and I want to ask you:
My daylight and low beams stopped working (both) but I have fog lights and high beams. None of the fuses are blown and I’m not to sure if I need to replace the switch or the relay. For the relay where is it located and how easy it is to replace it on my own?
Hi, thanks for the feedback JK. 🙂 I’m really humbled by your support.
Your issue seems related to either the fuse or relay. BCM is highly unlikely. Please check the wiring too for any rat chew issues. The relays are located behind the steering unit hidden under the dash.
If you remove the side panel trim of the dash near the steering, you can see a bunch of relays.
Here have a look:
polo.blue/fuses-and-relays-in-polo-6r/
how does your aircon relay look there is no on the relay,,,2010 polo
If your interior relay layout looks like this:
manuals.plus/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Volkswagen-Polo-2009-2017-Fuses-and-Fuse-box-diagram-and-Location-fig-6.jpg
then R9 is the AC relay.
is it possible to replace the plastic housing that surrounds these units? if so what is it called? i have ruined mine
Hi, no it’s integrated with the dashboard. It’s not available as a separate part.
@@GaneshBalan are you sure? I have a polo vivo which is a bit different. this panel seems separate. i can get my fingernail behind it so there is a gap.
@Nite85 Yes. Please take a look at the parts diagram of the dashboard below:

@@GaneshBalan link doesnt work but thanks i take your word for it
Please check this link if it works -

you are good my friend, thanx !! 🤞🤞
Thanks. 😊
Any chance of video for side view mirror change from old to one with inbuilt indicator lamp
Will do that shortly. I've a bunch of other videos lined up. Once I do the door card removal video, I'll do the mirror removal clip as well. Adding the indicator wire is easy as you have to tap into the respective wire in the harness going to the tail light indicators below the driver side door sill trim.
Hi Ganesh, I have been following your RUclips videos for quite some time now and have also read your blogs on TeamBHP. Your DIY videos are amazing! I need some help or suggestions regarding an issue I am facing. Recently, my Polo went to the garage for repairs and I discovered that the mechanic had used superglue to stick my headlight switch, which now cannot be removed. I was hoping if you could suggest any ways to remove the superglue adhesive so that I can upgrade to an auto headlight switch.
Hi Dexon, thanks for the feedback man.
As regards your headlight switch, I’m afraid, there’s no other go other than using brute force to remove the switch from the slot.
Why was it stuck using superglue if I can ask? Was it broken or something?
@GaneshBalan Thanks for the quick. The funny part is, If you recollect there is a silver trim on our headlight switch, and it came off. I asked that guy to glue that silver trim, but he ended up gluing the whole switch. Now, it bothers me to see the switch without the silver trim, so I bought a new one to replace it. Unfortunately, the old switch is stuck. Is there a way I can remove the silver trim from the new one and put it on the old switch? I'm afraid I'll break the new one too, haha.
Mine doesn’t work like that I push it in and twist it doesn’t slide out
Perhaps the connector with the wiring harness is holding the switch tightly?
My headlight control is not working any website from where it can get at lowest price
What is the exact problem? The range control motor or the controller unit?
I buy the parts from www.boodmo.com. They charge a nominal fee for shipping. Do check out. 👍🏻
They are giving it for around 2500 something
Hi, where can source range controller unit
I had sourced mine from Aliexpress back then. Your best bet now is from eBay.com where Chinese vendors have listed this or get it shipped to a friend based in Singapore or UAE and have it shipped to India.
@@GaneshBalan 👍🏻
How to remove that mount from dash
Which mount are you referring to?
U removed the headlight leveler from a place right the one which hold the headlight switch and headlight leveler
@karran5675 That is not a removable trim. It is fixed to the dash.
Ok sir tq for sport reply
