Polo 6R - Removing the boot lid/tailgate trim
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2021
- A quick video showing how to remove the plastic trim installed inside the boot lid/tailgate. If you intend to replace a defective boot lid lock or install a flip-camera unit or stick noise insulation sheets to dampen the noise, you will have to remove this trim. It’s easy and you can do it in a jiffy!

Big help , thankyou 👍
Thanks a lot Keith. Appreciate it. 🙂
Thank you.
Nice..
I removed the doors but the trim removal was a tough task for me....hope you will do a video for door removal
Will do it some time Roby. The door trims have a special clip which can break if not careful. Get a set of plastic trim removal tools. Helps immensely.
Easy with the hatch open, but mine will not unlock and I need to get in to fix it!
Hey, did you try manually unlocking the boot door? There’s a slot wherein you can insert the key or a flat blade screwdriver and push it so the door unlocks. Tried that yet?
In my case the metal v clips didnt come out with the cover- How can i remove them from my trunk and put it back in my Cover?
Hi, these V clips might get stuck in the body shell. I have a tool like this to remove them:

Do you by chance have any reference to any video which helps with routing of dash cam wire in a polo? Not hardwiring, but just want to route the cable so that it can reach the lighter power supply
Hi Arjun, don’t have a specific video for dashcam wiring. But I’ve another one which can help you. Check this out -

Hi, Thank you. 🙏
Since we are at the tailgate here;
Do you perhaps know where the tailgate cable harness is connected inside the car body in the other direction?
I need to replace the cable harness which connects to tailgate opening, rear wiper and rear brake light.
Behind the cover you showed how to remove I expect it to be obvious, but I don’t know where the cable harness is connected in the other direction, at that end.
To a connector in the roof or lower in the C-pillar?
Any info you can help me with regarding this is appreciated please.
I’m considering buying the cable harness and fix it myself.
Hi, TS. I don’t have the Polo with me now so won’t be able to do a physical check.
But check this link which shows how the harness is routed - oriparts.com/39/721/75331/3964081
It is going through both the C pillars.
@@GaneshBalan Hi GaneshBalan, Thank you for reply. 🙏
I read that there should be a connection to electrical earth in C pillar too, so the issue causing the problems could be related to that.
Have you removed C pillar panel inside before?
@@TS-gg9dk Hi TS, I had removed the C pillar to route the +12V cable to the boot light. Use a trim removal tool to undo the clips and pull the trim out using your bare hands.
@@GaneshBalanHi GaneshBalan,
Thank you for answering.
Did you have to remove other panels before removing the left C pillar panel?
There is an earth connection there, behind the C pillar panel?
I have removed the tailgate panel and upper brake light this weekend.
I saw no obvious faults, but I disconnected some connectors and connected them again and heard the click when they came into place again.
Could upper brake light, rear wiper, rear window defroster not working all depend on the earth connection in C pillar being faulty?
Or is the upper brake light a separate circuit?
I’m not used to reading circuit diagrams.
I checked if you perhaps had a video about this, but I couldn’t find one.
My Polo is a 6C model, so perhaps a little different.
All information is appreciated. 🙏
@TS-gg9dk There is a ground connection behind the lower C-pillar trunk lining not behind the plastic C-pillar trim if I recall.
A bad ground connection as you rightly guessed can cause the lights to be faulty. We had a similar experience with a different car while wiring up the 90/100W wiring harness. One headlight was significantly dimmer than the other side and realised it wasn’t getting proper ground connection. Replaced the ground with another bolt and it worked perfect.
Having done so much, I assume you have checked the relevant fuse in the fuse box below the driver’s dash?
My trim clips got broken the one that sung fits into holes where can i find it
You mean those metal V type clips?
Yes sir. And now my rear windshield got broken and couldn't find a way out to remove it properly neither vaccum gets inside of it.
